I live next door to this fabulous cafe! I am so lucky! The people are so friendly, professional and accommodating here, and the place is very clean. It's really wonderful! The prices are reasonable, especially considering the serving sizes. The milkshakes seem expensive until you taste them. WOW! The taste is that of an old ice cream shop. You would think that everything they make is their specialty. The quality is that good. One of my favorite sandwiches is the Koo Koo Roo. I also enjoy the meatball sub (although I go for it without the arugula and have them add mushrooms before toasting it). Sometimes I get a sandwich with my own picks of avocado, cucumber, tomato and alfalfa sprouts. YUM! The soups are beyond wonderful. My two favorite are the broccoli & cauliflower soup and the chicken tortilla. The salads are fresh and crisp. I have been on the prowl for a good sandwich shop, and I have found it. I could eat there every day and not get tired of it. Because you can craft your own salads, sandwiches and smoothies, and because of the vast array of ingredient choices, there really is a huge selection! If you are someone who feels pressured by a long line behind you while making a decision, the menu on their website is very helpful. I usually (but not always) decide what I'm going to have before I even get there. The thing is though, that decision has been derailed several times when I walk through the door and all of those fresh smells hit me. I can't say enough about the staff!!! They are all so very amiable while being 100% professional. They know what they are doing and seem to be very happy. You are greeted with smiles and that makes an eating place even better! I want to linger sometimes, because the staff is all so pleasant, energetic and knowledgeable. The seats in the booths don't appear to be comfortable, but they are. I have purposely sat in each booth and in each type of chair and sofa so that I could mention them in this review. I have found their Achille's heel! The seats are such that you don't want to leave! (especially the couch around the corner, that is often available if you want to have a more private feel while you are eating. It does not seem to matter what day or what time I go in, the service, cleanliness and quality of the staff and food are exemplary (which is why they see me so often). I have not been over there in about a week and a half because of circumstances not under my control. If they are open today (Easter), I am torn. I don't want to make it so that the staff have no holidays if they are open. If they are not open today, well... I will go in tomorrow!! This place is amazing! Good healthy food fast for a reasonable dollar. What more can you ask for. These places should replace all the McDonald's in the world and we'd all live 10 years older. We live in the neighborhood and went here for the first time for breakfast on a Sunday morning with our baby. Plenty of space and perfect for babies/kids. The breakfast options were tasty-sounding and healthy. I got the harvest bowl, which involves arugula, quinoa, avocado, pesto, and feta cheese,with an egg on top (I ordered an extra egg, and then added sriracha). Overall, loved the flavor combination (especially the pesto) but think it needed some sort of bread to go with it - even just one slice or a pita to go with it like they do at Chop't. My husband ordered the healthy start, which is a sandwich with egg whites, cheddar, spinach, and tomato. We both found it very bland (and adding sriracha still didn't help it much). Would not order this one again. The one major issue I had with Sweet Leaf was the drip coffee, which was incredibly watery. They use La Colombe coffee, which is great quality, but has no taste when made with too much water. I raised the issue with our cashier/server and he tasted it and agreed it was too watery and there was some kind of mistake. However, when he called over another lady to help him, she was pretty dismissive and told us that's how it's made and that the only thing she could do was add a shot of espresso to it. Given that that was our only option, we did that and it still tasted terrible. Overall, Sweet Leaf has a lot of potential to become my go-to breakfast spot in the neighborhood but definitely needs to up their coffee game! read more

Mediocre. Either Chopt or the salad joint at MOM stores is a better choice. First, they do not chop it fine enough, with raw kale, the pieces are huge. Chopt is much better. Secondly, the free water they have is all from ice. I have seen people there dump buckets of ice in it and the water is just tap water frozen into ice cubes that melt. And it tastes the way tap water does. Contrast that with other salad joints that have much better, filtered water that actually tastes good instead of drinking melted ice. read more

This review is for the frozen yogurt. Sweetgreen no longer offers froyo and I believe this is the only cafe in the immediate area that offers up the soft serve. My office is located right next door, so its a very quick and casual stroll. The place is usually comfortably crowded around lunchtime, I try to satisfy my craving around 1:30/2pm when the place slows down. They have just one flavor, vanilla, but you can tell that the yogurt has live kefir cultures. It might be a little tart but you can add three toppings, I usually get granola, raspberries and mandarin orange. It's a healthier option to the gelato from the Pizza shop on the corner, and I love sneaking in some vitamins and protein every chance I get. I am a bit of a salad snob and prefer to make my own daily, but after looking at their ingredients, I must admit it was the freshest salad greens I have ever seen, fresher than Whole Foods. It would be great if they could offer a punch card or membership to discount weekly purchases. Also- the one thing I love is they offer online ordering for quick pickup. read more

I wish this place were in NJ! If you can steer clear of the cookies, brownies and shakes, this is an easy spot to have delicious healthy food. Great lunch spot, ample seating. I came here with one of my friends after another friend recommended this place to us. Located in Arlington, Sweet Leaf is a café that caters sandwiches, salads, wraps, coffee, ice cream, and a variety of other desserts. This place reminded me of Chopt or a healthier Subway. The decor was super cute and the café had a very cozy feel to it. I ordered the Tiki Thai, which was one of the vegetarian specialty salads they had. You can customize your own salad here as well, which is what my friend did. The prices here are cheap compared to other places in the area and the portions here are big for what you get. The salad I got had a lot of flavor, but it wasn't anything spectacular. We also got their froyo with the seasonal fruit toppings they had--mango, blackberry, and strawberry. It was pretty average, although I did kind of like the texture (it was kind of thick and creamy). My friend and I agreed that the mango had somewhat of an artificial taste. Service was decent but we had to wait a couple of minutes for someone to take our orders. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for something healthy. read more

I would have provided this place with a 5-star rating in the past, but today I went in and realized that they had taken out the tofu protein from their menu. To add insult to injury, they replaced the tofu option now with steak. That's practically a nice big F*you to vegetarians. This place use to be my favorite lunch place to go 3 to 4 times a week, especially because I thought they had a better quality tofu product than Sweetgreen. Now, however my options as a vegetarian has become seriously limited. I know people might say they have falafel as the alternative vegetarian option. The problem with that argument is that the nutritional value of falafel is more suspect because it tends to be lower in protein per serving and higher in fats and carbs. Also, tofu can work with a lot more options because it provides more texture than anything else. Falafel truly has to pair well with both flavor and texture. I think this is a serious misjudgment on Sweet Leaf's part. I'm also pretty sure that I'm not the only vegetarian who will feel betrayed by this move on their part. read more

stopped by for breakfast on a recent business trip because their website advertises vegan and vegetarian options. since all their breakfast burritos have egg, i asked to make my own burrito. began ordering and was immediately told quinoa would be extra (even though it's in other burritos). i thought the employee asked if i wanted the wrap heated and i said yes, but then saw her reaching for an egg and quickly said no egg. she had already cracked it onto the cooktop and proceeded to roll her eyes, swipe the egg off the cooktop, and slam the egg shells into the trash. i continued to add ingredients to the burrito, each time getting strange looks for my choices. when i asked for tofu, i was told it wasn't available this time of day. i opted for no sauce since i couldn't tell what was in any of them. seems like there are more options for vegans at lunch, but that hardly seems to warrant considering this place vegan friendly. my particular experience lacked any friendliness at all. clean and convenient place, but i won't be returning. read more

Pretty disappointed in the Kabobi bowl, while it was very colorful and the kabobs were edible, the rest of the bowl was pretty bland and flavorless. Perhaps it needed the pepper sauce on top which I excluded, the creamy sauce was put on it though and while I saw it go on, I didn't taste anything. Great salad place right next door to the Marriott Residence Inn and half a block away from SweetGreen. My personal preference is the SweetGreen restaurant, but if that is too crowded, SweetLeaf is my second choice. SweetGreen uses vegan bread, while SweetLeaf does not, but SweetGreen has plenty of vegan protein options for your salad. This is our favorite salad place. And also sandwiches. My husband loves the Caprese and the San Remo. I go between the Kale Cobb, Greek salad, and recently got the chicken pesto. You can never go wrong with their salads and they don't mess up your order. Also, I use a wheelchair so they are very accommodating and getting his forks spoons and napkins, opening the door and helping me use my app to pay. Very good for the price and the amount of food.
