This cafe is conveniently located near a lot of workout studios, so it's a great option if you're looking for a healthy, post workout food choice. It has just a few tables for dine in, and the option for online ordering as well. It's brightly lit and appears clean; however, the tables had crumbs on them when I went to sit down, and I'm pretty sure I was the first patron to dine in that morning, so I'm not confident they wipe down the tables regularly. I ended up ordering a smoothie and a Sunrise Burrito. The items were made to order and the ingredients in each tasted fresh. The burrito was a little messy to eat as it fell apart almost immediately, but it was good nonetheless. Overall, this is a great spot for fresh, made to order, healthy items. I was craving something light and healthy and after doing some research stumbled upon Sweet Leaf! I was so surprised by everything -- the extensive menu, the fresh ingredients, the friendly staff, and the central location. It was a great alternate to Chopt / Sweet Green and had comparable prices. The main difference was the freshness of the ingredients and all the different options! I highly recommend their smoothies and a byo salad. read more

Fresh food and good service! Great smoothies, salad, and lots of delicious sandwiches to choose from. I do appreciate their outdoor tables/seating during the warmer months. Inside, music is typically playing but not too much going on. read more

Be CAREFUL what you order from here. I ordered a berry haze smoothie and found several pieces of hard plastic in my berry haze smoothie AFTER I had already drank from it. My toddler almost drank some but thankfully I found the plastic before he did or else he would have been injured. I called sweet leaf immediately and the lady on the phone could barely understand me and ofcourse they had no manager on site. Several days later after basically chasing them down, I was able to speak to a manager who couldn't tell me how plastic could've got into my smoothie and simply offered me a replacement meal. I also spoke to their district manager who was unapologetic, SMUG and RUDE about the whole incident. He then accused me of being "mean" to their staff over the phone after finding and ingesting plastic in my smoothie. What mother would not be upset? I almost fed my 13 month old toddler this smoothie. Please beware of this place. I note this isn't the first time I had an issue with the berry haze smoothie. A previous time I ordered it there was a strange bitterness in there, but I didn't bother reporting it. However finding plastic in my smoothie was something I couldn't ignore. There is clearly a systemic issue here and possible lack of oversight. read more

Highly recommend. Great customer service. Glad I stopped by. Affordable. Food taste great.

Alright...I've walked by Sweet Leaf for 2 years and never thought to go in. My friend told me she heard that it was good, so we decided to try it for dinner and I am impressed! Great prices and great food. We both got the Chimichurri Grain Bowl and WOW. It was $14 for steak medallions, turmeric rice, avocado, roasted corn, tomato, cilantro, organic baby spinach, lime squeeze and chimichurri. There was a lot of steak and the avocado and little pieces of corn took this bowl to the next level. This would have been $25 anywhere else and it wouldn't have tasted as good. I can't believe I've been sleeping on this place! If I had to compare it to another place, I would say its like a mix of sweetgreen and cava, but healthier and with more options because they also have sandwiches, bowls and salads. This location has outdoor seating. read more

There's certainly no shortage of fast casual salad, sandwich, and smoothie spots in the DMV, but Sweet Leaf still somehow manages to stand out as one of the best. It's ingredients are consistently fresh and high quality, without a single blemish to be seen. They have a great variety of toppings and protein choices, including roasted veggies, falafel, and tofu for my vegetarian friends. I'm extra particular, so I usually opt to build my own, but their pre-selected menu options are also delicious -- it's hard to turn down their falafel tzatziki bowl! If salads or grain bowls aren't your jam, you can always opt for something a little more handheld -- they have great sandwiches and smoothies (I can't say enough great things about their Berry Blanco or Very Verde). If you swing by for breakfast, you can grab their take on a harvest bowl or an extra fancy avocado toast. What really sets Sweet Leaf apart is it's consistency, high quality, fast and friendly service, and wide selection. If you're looking for a casual spot for a quick bite, definitely give Sweet Leaf a try! read more

Good service, solid breakfast burritos, and nice atmosphere inside. I stopped by on a weekday morning as the bagel shop nearby seemed to be pretty full. I decided to get the sunrise burrito, and it was quite flavorful. Not too large of a portion, but also worth the price in my opinion. read more

Great service. Fresh food! Absolutely delicious! The website is making me write more but I have nothing else to say.

Was supposed to meet a new coworker who didn't show but I rolled in anyway. 1100 on a Tuesday was not terribly busy. The joint seemed clean with pleasant but efficient staff, meaning they greet, smile and send you on your way, even as I said it's my first time here. I ordered the turkey apple sandwich. Sliced turkey, apples, bacon, arugula and cheese on nice sized slices of sourdough. A decent sized sandwich and I also ordered a bag of chips on the side. Fresh bread, measured toppings, served quickly. Tasty. I would say the sandwich was a tad pricey but, I'm in Arlington so, to be expected but the experience was good and I'll be back. read more

Stumbled upon this cute little place while staying in the area! Loved how it offers lots of customizable veggie/healthy options. You can create your own salad, grain bowl, or sandwich, add other protein or extra veggies, then top it off with a house-made dressing. They also have other preset bowls/sandwiches as well as smoothies. Not only do they have a good variety of vegetables to pick from, but also have a wide selection of cooked veggies and toppings for you add to your bowl such as grilled corn, roasted zucchini, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, tortilla chips, croutons, etc. Want to give a shoutout to their pesto vinaigrette cause it was SO bomb!! Loved how it was super basil-y and not too sour. They were also very generous with their steak pieces. Appreciate how they keep sustainability in mind and utilize compostable bowls and utensils. The store itself was pretty spacious with good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were nice and patient with me being indecisive hahaha. If you're looking for a chill place with healthy options, I'd definitely recommend Sweet Leaf! read more

I think sweet leaf cafe might be my new favorite fast casual place. I ordered a craft your own salad with roasted veggies and it was so tasty and fresh. Ordering online from Sweet Leaf requires an account set up, which requires a verification code that for some reason wasn't transmitting today (tried for 45 minutes). I called and Deeana was super helpful with a complicated order of salads, sandwiches, smoothies, etc. The order was ready when we arrived, is accurate, and Deeana was cheerful and an absolute pleasure. She welcomed everyone who walked in while we were there - so nice to meet such a positive person! Food is fresh and full of flavor. The salad dressings really stood out. I'm shocked they only have 4 stars. This place is FANTASTIC. I order from them at least once a week. Most of the time I get the Kale salad bowl. We were visiting DC yesterday and stopped in for lunch. I had the Sabroso bowl (shredded chicken, black beans, avocado, turmeric rice, avocado, cotija cheese , arugula and a lime dressing) with a strawberry, banana and asmoothie. My fiance' had the Falafel Tzatziki (organic falafel, kale-cucumber-tomato tabbouleh, purple cabbage, local feta, mint, organic mesclun, turmeric rice, pita chips, cucumber tzatziki, green tahini) and a Berry Blanco smoothie (seasonal berries + coconut + honey granola). Everything was delicious. A quick healthy lunch at a cute spot. I made sure to check in and review it on Yelp so I can return next time I'm in DC. read more

Friendly staff, Management failure. They don't have someone in charge on site in the evenings AT ALL. Literally just walk in there and request a manager and they'll say "Sorry he went home for the day". What!? This is ridiculous. Also, don't forget they left broken umbrellas outside their store for weeks without repair or cleaning it up. Disappointing. Food is decent and that's your saving grace for a 2 read more

I'll be honest, I accidentally interchange Sweet Lead and Sweetgreen in name at times. I'm sure their names are similar on purpose. Anyway, the concepts are similar to Sweetgreen and Chopt, where you can select a set mix or customize your own. Unlike the others, this place also offers sandwiches and rice bowls, so points for some differentiation! I personally enjoy the kale kobb salad. The dressing is refreshing, and the cheese isn't overpowering. I substitute my tomatoes with chickpeas, which for me adds a satisfying bite. read more

Good place for healthy eats. I like their breakfast sandwiches. You can also get keto wraps if get the sandwiches wrapped in collards. SweetLeaf uses something called "Toast" to place online orders. It does not work most of the time, it just sits and spins. It wisely requires you to enter a 6 digit code it sends to your email when you order, to confirm that you are ordering, since anyone could be picking up your food if they somehow got access of your account online. But when you enter the 6 digit number it just spins. If you really fight with their website you can eventually place an order without having a Toast account. I often just go buy lunch somewhere else. The food is good, if somewhat bland. read more

I could write forever (I won't) on why this place is the absolute best fast casual spot. And despite it being "fast casual", it's far better than most sit down spots. Everything is so fresh! If you go in the morning you'll see them peeling fresh oranges, preparing other fruits/veggies etc. The smoothies are made with real fresh ripe fruits and veggies. For the chimichurri bowl, they slice perfectly cooked steak right in front of you. They don't just have salads, but a little bit of everything. Service always pleasant and patient if you're undecided. read more

Went to sweetgreen for a quick lunch the other day. I got their seasonal greek root vegetable salad. I got a super loaded salad for around $10 that even included flaffel. Was a little disapointed with how soggy the zuchinni and squash were as well as how i found a couple of bad lettuce pieces in my bowl. For a salad place- freshness of ingredients should be a top priority. Sweet leaf is basically your knock off Sweetgreen at its core. You can get a more filling salad for the Sweetgreen price but you are def sacraficing on quality. read more

Fresh crunchy greens, high quality produce, and local ownership set this place apart for the taste-conscious consumer who's passionate about supporting small businesses. I might call this a Tesla version of the Subway chain, in that it uses top-quality ingredients, and caters to more discerning salad tastes with offerings of smoked salmon, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh-made pesto, sprouts, a variety of berries, mediterranean pickles, and notable cheeses. Sweet Leaf takes a "sandwich and salads" cafe to a different plane. I began noticing this shop only recently, having been a loyal fan of nearby national chain "Corner Bakery". I realized that the Illy coffee here at Sweet Leaf was exceptional. I started venturing into their breakfast sandwiches and realized that the combination of taste and consistency was turning my initially-hesitant flirtation into a more serious, full-blown affair. Then I indulged in dinner salads. Boom. Crunchy, zesty, fresh and flavorful, large portion sizes, exceptional blending of tastes and health choices including salmon (at no extra cost) sealed the deal. They are generous with avocado, salmon, sun-dried tomatoes, extra pickles. All this makes for a fantastic, large salad (easy to share between two, I would say). I am officially out of a cheating flirtation and into a solid relationship with Sweet Leaf. The delightful, rustic, country-farmhouse themed interior decoration sets this place apart as well. Notice their exquisite natural wood counter top and tables. I like the sense of calm and the attention to interior decoration detail. This creates an ambience where people are encouraged to linger and visit. It is a stark contrast to the awful national chain coffee shops that offer sterile stools and industrial tables based on their business model of customer turnover. I'm glad I have a haven here. I'm lucky to live near by. My DC based friends are jealous that I get this awesome community cafe and they don't. Recommendations: +Malibu Melt breakfast sandwich. I ask for a couple extra jalapenos because I usually get it to go. This tides me over an entire day at the office. I eat half for breakfast and half for lunch. Awesome. +San Remo salad substituting salmon for chicken. Delicioso + California salad. +Coffee milkshake (took a minute to come out of the blender in the back, but gave me liquid courage for a 10 mile walk and left over enough for a treat afterwards) +Illy coffee (consistently fantastic, and the reason why I am a Yelpie Duchess here) read more

Ok, Cosi was my favorite and this place has the same concept but locally-owned I think. The place has a sandwich selection including falaf(ull), saffron rice is one of the options, which was very tasty. I had it on my salad bowl - mexi-cez- med, turned out really good and filling. It was so good but also a lot of food. I'd come back if ever i'm in the area again for tomorrow is my last day of class near the Arlington courthouse. This spot showed up as no. 1 lunch spot in Arlington and I can see why. During our visit at lunch today, and this place is not that big but had adequate and strategically placed seatings to accommodate more, it had a steady traffic. Here I am again, very disappointed with this place. They charge your $2 extra for avocado, the lady at the cash register(the only worker there with any sense) asks the sandwich makers if they remembered the avocado, they say yes, then of course I get up to my office and NO AVOCADO! I cannot believe they still have the same people working there making sandwiches as they had a year ago. These people don't care at all. It's literally a 50/50 shot every time I go that my order is going to be correct. The food is great but it is such a shame at how shitty the staff is. They claim they've worked on it and improved their employee training but they either haven't or their employees just don't care at all. read more

So refreshing to find a place where you can get a no frills yet healthy sandwich or salad around here. Not gonna lie, this place bears a very similar name and DIY salad bar concept to a DMV-based fast casual giant. However, it boasts a community vibe, caring staff, and fresh ingredients that distinguish itself as its own thing. I ordered the turkey sandwich with cheddar cheese, apple, and avo ranch. Chop't . . . you've been chopped! Well, OK, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I do prefer Sweet Leaf to the aforementioned salad juggernaut. I've been to this Sweet Leaf many times, mainly for the salads, and have always come away full and happy. They offer a number of great options with high-quality, flavorful ingredients. One key difference between this place and Chop't: Sweet Leaf is notably more generous with their protein portions. I usually get chicken-based salads, and here the standard portion is plenty filling. At Chop't it's more meager, and as a result I need to order extra chicken, resulting in a $15-16 lunch, vs. $10-11 here. Sweet Leaf for the win! The breakfast sandwiches I've tried likewise feature tasty, high-quality ingredients. They're on the lighter side, good if you're not looking for a gut-busting start to your day. Service has always been friendly and efficient, and the interior is comfortable, casual and pleasantly rustic. There's some outdoor seating as well, for those times of year when 'Bomb Cyclones' and the 'Polar Vortex' are far from mind. read more
