Treats were decent however they're not trustworthy now. I live in this neighborhood and we'd stop by and get something every now and then but since the owner has loudly stated her stance and will not be serving or hiring anyone who "she asks" voted for Trump there is no way I'll take the chance of taking a bite of something that possibly has spit in it because that is clearly what she is saying. I didn't even vote for him but when this entitlement is worn like a badge for a business it shows they don't care about customers only their ideology. Your treats aren't good enough to be this entitled for one and secondly you also don't understand the meaning of DEI and because of your boldness to take to TikTok to make a video pretending you do it's unfortunate your business might suffer from jumping to emotions than critical thinking. Sweet Freaks has the best assortment of homemade chocolate goodies. The shop is adorable and ran by very good people. I especially love the chocolate covered pretzels and the everything bark! The prices are little higher than buying candy at a grocery store, but it is worth it to support a small local business that is putting out great, fresh products. Love your store!! read more

Sweet Freaks is a cute little family-owned candy store located in a group of quaint little shops right next to the 99th Street Metra station in Beverly. Even if you're not a huge chocolate lover, you'll love this place. Besides chocolates, they have a variety of other candy and fudge. However, their main specialty is hand made chocolates and candies--hence the name Sweet Freaks. One step inside and you can tell they're passionate about what they do. Outstanding family owned Sweet shop that you should not pass up! The Chocolate is Perfect. The Milk Chocolate has a smooth, creamy sweetness that compliments the richness of the cocoa. The Dark Chocolate lies perfectly on the edge of being unsweetened without the sharp bitterness that only a heavy coffee drinker would enjoy. The Cherry Bites by themselves are delicious. Pair them with a glass of red wine...watch out! Chocolate dipped strawberries and pretzels. Truffles, Almonds and Homemade Turtles called Jakes that are so good, words fail to describe. Came in to kill some time before catching a Metra today and I'm glad I did! Awesome little spot. Very clean. Young lady behind the counter was helpful and friendly. I usually get my dark chocolate covered almonds from Mariano's but this will be my new spot for sure! You can taste the difference. I also purchased a milk chocolate covered peanut butter filled graham cracker sandwich type of thing that was unreal. Needed a glass of milk to wash it down. In addition, they have all kinds of homemade crafts and other candies like chocolate covered coins and even cordial shot glasses made out of chocolate! Come on! Perfect addition to the neighborhood. I am hooked on the chocolate there. I especially like the little marsh mellow birthday style cakes. Its like my birthday everyday with a little mock candle on the top. The owner Katie Murphy is as sweet as she can be. They can make anything and have a wide variety of goodies; fudge, pralines, grahm crackers. Even had Oscar cookies for Oscar night. She also has some penny candy. Go there and go next door to Blossom Boys, flower and gift shop and the coolest ladies boutique on the corner. This is a fantastic neighborhood candy store. The kids love it (obviously), but the handcrafted chocolates are really amazing. Our favorite gift for any occasion is a box of their famous, handmade chocolate Jakes: chocolate, caramel & pecans, yum! It's probably crazy that I love this place so much, especially because I don't even like chocolate! I do, however, love the owner and the support that the business brings to the community. I also like that they take risks by trying new combinations. (No, I don't like chocolate, but they had me at "bacon"!) If you're a first-timer, I recommend exploring your sense of adventure: try the Cherry Bites (chocolate covered red licorice), the Peanut Clusters or, of course, any special they have involving bacon. Parking is a challenge at times, especially around school pick-up times (there are two pre-schools on the block), but parking challenges are par for the course in the area.
