Came here on short notice with my sweetheart today, and boy was it a treat! Picture this it's a slightly cold overcast day out so naturally I thought what better thing to do than go get some ice cream. Jokes aside when we arrived on the scene the strip was quiet, and there wasn't really anyone around so we had quite the peaceful entrance. We walk in and are immediately greeted by a man who served us with an easy going presence coinciding well with the overall warm & cozy atmosphere of the shop and he got us taken care of right away. Within just a few minutes we received our ice cream, checked out, and were back in the car enjoying our cream. I got my lady a cone with "Mango Sorbet" & "Bourbon Vanilla" and likewise I got a cone but with "Sea Salt Caramel" & "Kooky Monster" I tried some of hers, she tried some of mine. Let me just say the flavors were incredible, and although i'm not one to eat ice cream all that much I can say with great certainty that this was some of the best ice cream i've ever had in my life from temperature to texture to even the sweetness it was all on point and i'll definitely be back to try other flavors! read more

This is one of those places that you will crave and be willing to drive across town for. We drive here from Rowlett whenever we want homemade ice cream. I love that they make snowballs which are similar to the shaved ice treats that are served in Hawaii. It's a layer of shaved ice with your choice of flavoring and then a layer of homemade ice cream. It's absolutely delicious! Each day the ice cream flavors change because they're all homemade. Two of today's flavors were Chocolate Orange and Wild Berry. It's always so hard to choose. They now have a walk up window so you can see the selection of ice creams and order at the window. There is seating outside and a park like area with benches just across the way. Sweet Firefly is my one and only go-to for delicious ice cream. I absolutely love the texture and flavors they offer each time. I especially come back for their bourbon vanilla, honey lavender, and sorbets. You can get it in a cone or cup! They even offer snow cones (I haven't personally had those yet because I'm not a fan of snow cones) but I am sure it is as delicious. All their ice creams are store-made. They have seasonal flavors as well as ones that they have consistently. FYI, they do half-scoops, so you can pick 2 flavors for sweet mama, 4 flavors for sweet daddy etc. There's really nothing I can say against Sweet Firefly. It is a perfect little shop that have won over my heart. I come here anytime I'm craving some gourmet ice cream and I'm more than satiated each time. Sometimes during their busy hours/days, seating is pretty limited and it might become cramped up inside the store with long lines and customers. Thankfully, there is a really beautiful "mini-park" area just across the lot with more space and benches under the shade of trees and lights that are lit up at night. So, bring your family! I love the window service & how close it is to my home. I'm anemic & I constantly crave ice but have some very sensitive / bad teeth I can't afford to fix at the moment- their ice is excellent! It's tugged inside a small plaza in Richardson, where Frankie's and Pearl Cup are. I found this place thanks to our yelp weekly newsletter last summer. I can't believe it's down the street from me, and I didn't know about it. I'm a little sad to say their vanilla ice cream is better than Henry's. I love Henry's with all my heart, but the vanilla here is really is the best. The owners are very proud of their bourbon vanilla, which is really good also. But I like the regular vanilla better, because it isn't too sweet. The texture is so creamy and perfect. Their scoop is actually very generous for a small size. My nephew and niece had the cookie monster and they loved it. They also shared a cotton candy shaved ice, which was good too. The ice was surprisingly smooth and fine. I met one of the owners, and she was sweet and helpful. I'm not sure how often they rotate the flavors, but I want to try them all. I highly recommend this place to ice cream lovers or not. My Overall Rating - 4 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Sweet Firefly is similar to most ice cream shops. There's a counter with favors to choose from along with a few tables in the front. There's also a private room in the back that can be used for private parties. They also have boxes with random toys that kids love to play with. Although it's a bit narrow and can be confusing with crowds, the positives outweigh the negative. 1 Star. Service - Excellent. The owner was there on our visit, and I could tell how passionate she was in her product. The staff was excellent in getting our scoops and orders in. Plus, she let our large party to sit in the private room in the back. Excellent all around. 1 Star. Food - The ice cream was great, and super creamy. It reminded me a lot of Henry's in Plano. This place is really cute & the ice cream tastes good enough. I got cookies n cream and the SO got mint chocolate chip in a cone. My scoop was pretty small and fit in one of those styrofoam sauce cups for $3.50, while a double scoop in a cone is $5. I'm not sure what's the appeal of this place. It's a nice little ice cream shop in a nice little shopping strip in Richardson. I came to sample and order sorbets, since I was in the mood for something light. I tried the mango, raspberry and bellini sorbets. The raspberry sorbet doesn't have much raspberry flavor, much to my surprise. The mango and the bellini were better choices. But even then, they both tasted artificially sweetened, or flavored with syrup, instead of natural fruit ingredients. In light of this, I can't really recommend this ice cream shop. Maybe the milk-based ice cream flavors are better than the sorbets, since it may be harder to taste the syrup flavors. I looked for other reasons to return - the candies are cute. The hot chocolate might be good, as it's offered only in winter months. The coffee is just brewed drip coffee. But yeah, nothing really called out to me. It's a better place for kids, maybe, who would enjoy shoving artificial sugars into their mouth. Maybe I'll try the hot chocolate one day. I came here this afternoon with a friend and her daughter for some ice cream. Sweet Firefly had been on my radar for awhile and I was glad to finally be able to sample some of their offerings. Upon entering the shop, there were a bunch of people sitting outside enjoying their ice cream on their patio. Inside, people were scattered throughout. What? Packed on a Thursday afternoon? This must be good. I sampled the bourbon vanilla and the toffee coffee and decided on the coffee toffee in a waffle cone. The ice cream was delicious and the little shop had so much character.
