Stark place- limited menu. Nostalgic yellow chairs and…read moretables that look like they came from an original "WINCHELL'S" donut shop? A very cordial, pleasant, and kind young lady working there just the other day. A surprisingly lovely glazed donut I might say. But I kept looking around there thinking "in a small town like this how can they even sell enough donuts to keep this joint open but they obviously do". I could think of some simple things that could be added, but I wouldn't want to give away my secrets. All throughout the United States there are donut shops that have the same recipe apparently, not sure how that works? A lot of them are Asian run in the San Francisco area. I always laughed at the signs that would say "Donuts and Chinese Food" before walking in I would always say to myself: "Nothing like a good egg fu yung jelly doughnut"! Yeah, this spot could use a little more hipness for just spending a few dollars on some paint and artwork, etc. there would probably be a line more often. I don't know. I wasn't there on a weekend. Also, the beautiful new laundromat or remodeled laundromat next-door should really be a good revenue source for the hungry laundry goer....... But certainly grab a doughnut. They're very tasty. So keep heading up the road a bit to Joshua Tree as there are many cute little shops in the three block area there which I guess is called downtown Joshua Tree? I really dig all the new modern prefabs that are popping up which appeared to be primarily Airbnb joints(?)- a lot of style man! Yeah, I'll be back. I met some really cool people in that couple of blocks. If you haven't been there then hop in your car and drive up there right now and get yourself a nice little jelly doughnut...... "Thank ya. Thank ya very much".

This place could be so much h better, but it wasn't half bad…read more The cashier was kind, welcoming and friendly I had a blueberry donut with a granulated sugar coat. At 2 bucks and change it was just fine and a fair value. Glass case and pink boxes, you would think that's charming, it's not. The decor is firmly stuck in the 70s but not in that mid century stylish way. The laundromat nexr store was freshened and modernized recently. Some thought and about 15k could offer much needed updates. Don't change your cashier though, she was wonderful.

What a vibe!!…read more Visiting Joshua Tree and had to make a stop here! Options for coffee or a cocktail, what a cool concept. They have cool art work and merch. Staff are super friendly and had great customer service. We tried the Banana nut latte, salted caramel cold brew, Arnold Palmer and a cocktail El Compsnero. All were super tasty! I would add a little extra swetner when getting a tea, but we enjoyed our mid day pick me up! The photo booth was so much fun! We had a blast getting our pics. Just overall a dope place!

Overhyped and not worth it…read more The place looks really nice inside, but unfortunately, that's about the only positive thing I can say. I ordered the blueberry hibiscus, and it was terrible there was barely any flavor at all. It was so bad that I ended up throwing it away, which felt like a complete waste of money. My friend ordered the matcha latte, and that was just as disappointing. The matcha was extremely watered down and had very little flavor. To make things worse, the cashier was rude and had a standoffish attitude, which made the experience even less enjoyable. The AC also wasn't working, so it was uncomfortable inside. Overall, this place is way overhyped. The interior is cute, but the drinks and customer service were a huge letdown. Definitely not worth the money or the hype.

Frontier Cafe is one of those rare high desert spots that sits right in the middle of one of the…read morebest little shopping stretches in Yucca Valley and still feels easy and local. I honestly don't think I've made a single desert trip without stopping in at least once. Part of it is the location. Acme 62 and Hoof + Horn are both literally right next door and both great for gifts that say "I went to the desert" without going full souvenir shop. Pioneer Crossing Antiques is also nearby and was sadly closed this Wednesday, but I normally stop in whenever it's open. The proprietors are awesome and I always find something unique to take home. Food-wise, the lox bagel was a standout. Great ratio of cream cheese, capers, dill, thin-shaved red onion, plus a little side salad of arugula and radish that actually tasted fresh instead of feeling like decoration. The yogurt parfait was small but mighty, layered with berries and granola and substantial enough to feel like breakfast. Easy seating, dog friendly, and plenty of sandwiches and salads if you're not in a bagel mood. Tasty, fresh, quick, and just enough "we did something" energy before heading back to the Airbnb to relax and beat the heat.
