My Daughter moved to Fairfax from Houston with her 2002 V70 Cross Country. I do 98% of my auto repairs my self and seldom have to have a professional do any work for me. My Daughter called me on a Sunday with a problem with her Volvo. I was helpless and there was nothing I could do from Houston. I found Mark on google with a few positive reviews. I called on Sunday just to get hours and Mike answered. I told him the situation and that I am a very protective father and it is always tricky to find someone to trust. He said had a daughter and understood, he is the same way. He asked for her to bring it to him on Monday. Monday she brought her Volvo to Mark and he wanted her to leave it. She lives close to the shop and was going to walk but Mark offered to take her home and then he even picked her up when he finished the car. His diagnosis was spot, he was timely and, his prices were very fair. He has earned my trust with the Volvo and I know my Daughter is good hands. I've found most of the dealers in this area to be somewhat less-than-reputable. Mark Weisman is the real deal. I've taken our cars to him for about 10 years. His expertise is without equal, and he is completely honest. He will NEVER try to get you to do unneeded repairs. He's great at explaining things as well. (I enjoy just chatting with him about all kinds of things and will shoot the bull with him for a while when he's not in a huge time crunch.) He's open on Saturday mornings, which works out great for me. He's equally at home working on old 240s or 900s as he is on one of the newer cars that's just out of warranty. The only thing to be conscious of, if you're used to a more "corporate" type of shop, is that he's a one-man show and books appointments the old-fashioned way--by phone. There is no email or website. But it works just fine. If you leave him a voicemail, he WILL get back to you, almost always the same day. The great thing is that it's always him and only him working on your car. He is a very smart, articulate guy; I imagine he would be a doctor (like other members of his family) or researcher if he didn't enjoy working on cars so much. He is incredibly detail-oriented; even his receipts look like something out of a penmanship textbook. His customers are super-loyal; he's had many since he opened in the '80s. He ends up servicing the cars of the parents and then the cars of their kids, once they become adults and get Volvos or Saabs of their own. He has some who have basically donated their ancient cars to him, to use for parts or (in one case I can think of) his own personal side project. Mark served in the Army before becoming a mechanic, and he has a lot of military (as well as LE and IC) families among his customers. My point there is that people who are generally not quick to trust just anyone and who demand a high standard of service put their trust in Mark. Yes, I'm a longtime customer, but at this point, I consider myself a friend as well. I would not take a Volvo or Saab to anyone else. read more

I live in Massachusetts, so when my older Saab snapped a cable last week, I didn't know where to get it worked on, but took a chance on this shop because of the good reviews. My experience could not have been better! Not only did he replace the original cable with a sturdier one, but he also fixed some persistent problems I had not been able to deal with - always checking with me on price before proceeding. I have been using this business for a few years now since the Saab dealer (International Saab in Falls Church) I had been taking my 2001 Saab 9-5 to for servicing damaged the radiator of a friend of mine's Saab 9-3 during a "routine" repair, which caused him travel-related logistical problems and me complete embarrassment for referring him to this dealer repair shop. It's a great, one-man business that provides exceptional service at prices roughly half that of a Saab dealer repair shop. Additionally, if you own an older Saab, such as a classic 900 (like I do), he can also provide expert servicing of those vehicles as well since he has been a Saab mechanic for over thirty years. In short, a great mechanic and good guy who values every customer and the cars he services. Like a good doctor, once you find a good mechanic, you don't want to loose them. I will continue using Swedish Import Services until I no longer own a Saab. read more

He will always tell you what repairs need to be completed immediately and what repairs can wait! Mark is the owner of Swedish Imports and does not employ any other mechanics.. He is a top notch mechanic and is the "only" one who will work on your car! Mark does not have a cell phone or computer so you will need to call the shop's landline to make an appointment, but he always gets back to his customers the same day. You are never surprised by the price when picking up your car, since Mark will always assess the situation, provide you an accurate quote and will never complete extra work without confirming with you first. Wow. Just wow. I have been servicing my (quite elderly) 1993 Volvo 240 for several years now - had it since 2003 and I just sold it on 8/6/2017. (*Sign*) Mark is simply superb. He has had the opportunity many times to soak us for quite a lot, but has always been honest - many times he mentioned that the problem was just something small and an adjustment was the only thing that was needed. I've had good experiences here with a 2005 Saab 95. Richard is upfront, and I believe that he is honest. When I ask him about the work they have done, he has always been familiar with my car and whatever shape it's in. He has told me that I may have an issue with a particular issue later, (because I asked) but for now it seems to be fine. He has never tried to sell me on something. He seems to know these cars well. Judging from my experience with the Saab, I would say he sees them often! read more
