I have been going to Mr. Min for probably 10 years now and have used Mr. Min for brake repairs, oil/filter changes, tire repairs, and replacement of antifreeze. Mr. Min repaired what needed to be repaired at a resonable cost, and didn't try to recommend repairs that were not needed. I initially met Mr. Min when he moved into a facility on Main Street, prior to his current location at the BP station (11119 Fairfax Blvd). When I initially met him at his Main Street location, I sat in the waiting room for about an hour and as customers came in, I asked them about Mr. Min. Most had been going to him for over 15 years, and all attested to his honesty and great work ethic. He moved form his old location in old-town Fairfax to his current location about two and half years ago, and we could not find him until yesterday. My wife's Volvo had an intermittent check engine light. While out of town we had it checked out and were quoted $2,400 for a complete repair to the fuel system. The diagnosis alone cost $90! Since the light was intermittent we came back to town and the car promptly died, so took it to Min's. He diagnosed a bad alternator and a cost of $845. That repair worked perfectly. No more error codes, no check engine light, and great function. Min's also managed to turn off the "maintenance required" indicator that 3 other shops could not do (this resets the oil change monitor). My front window was not rolling up and I took it to Mins Auto Service. I spoke with Min and explained what I was experiencing. He stated that my car needs motor and ordered the part. After installing the part, the window was not working properly. He could not fix it and stated the new part was bad and if I want he would refund my money back. I went back and removed the part and returned my money. Before I left I asked him a question and he did not let me finish my concern. I only said two words"DO YOU KNOW" only. I first took my pre-owned Honda Fit 2007 when it required a brake flush, transmission fluid flush, and a few other things. It was pretty stressful since it was all happening within 2 months of buying this car. Min is great because he takes time to sit and chat with you to explain the status of your car. Perfectly willing to show you the parts of the car that need fixing so you can make your own decision. He does not pressure you at all into purchasing services. In fact, I came in requesting a serpentine belt change because of what I was told at Jiffy Lube during an oil change. Upon hearing that, he said - well let's make sure that is actually what you need. Did my front brakes but now I've learned they didn't do them correctly. In addition to using cheap parts, pins were not wiped and lubed, parts were over-tightened, and they even broke off the top of a Phillips head and left it lodged in! Someone tried to steal my car, and instead just destroyed it. Cutting all the steering wheel wires in an attempt to "hot wire" it, and pushing a screwdriver into the keyhole to turn it. Destroyed. I TOWED it to a mechanic, who then said they took 3 hours to diagnose it at $180 an hour. Had it towed to Min's shop, and he figured out everything needed, and repaired it for WAY less than I expected. New key thing, not programmed at a dealership (somehow, this guy is a genius), repaired all the cuts wires, and all for under $400. Saved me at LEAST $1,000 over anyone else, and what the first place wanted to charge WITHOUT even finding the key in the center console. My mechanic FOR LIFE. read more

What a gem hidden in Fairfax City! I was super impressed with Joseph Min of this auto service shop. My opportunity to visit Min's Auto Service arrived because my 10 year-old Mazda is starting to show signs of age. The oil pressure light lit up while I was driving and from what I looked up online, it could be a serious problem. I drove right in to the shop and asked for help. He spent the time explaining possible issues and gave me an estimate right away. There were other issues with my car including AC issues and break pads. He took care of everything, topped off all of my fluids and now my car is good as new. Prices were reasonable too! Mr. Min is very knowledgeable and I was super impressed with his professionalism.
