I've tried this truck a handful of times, and it truly never disappoints (unless they are out of poutine haha). I was really excited to see her parked out in the lot at The Yard at Ivanhoe. I always try to catch her at Ivanhoe Brewing, but this was a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend the Loki or Thor. I love this truck! The food here all comes in big portions, but quality isn't traded for quantity. Everything here tastes amazing. The Thor Viking Dog lived up to its name. It was a massive hot dog with mashed potatoes, crab salad and onion crisps. I've never had a hot dog like it before and I was loving it. The crab salad might night be a welcome addition for everyone but it created a great flavor contrast with each bite and I didn't mind it at all. It was a great replacement to something like sour kraut, which I usually like with my hot dogs. The Ragnarok burger was my favorite. Sharp cheddar, crunchy onions, lettuce and a house-made sauce all on top of a juicy burger patty that was perfectly cooked. It was truly a burger fit for the gods. It was a bit messy but that's because I was so impatient to eat it. I recommend you slap on the Viking helmet like I did and go to town on this thing. You won't regret it. "Beloved Thor" To my beloved Thor, I could not love you more. At first I was afraid it's true, but after the first bite I knew. The Swededish food truck often shows up at the College Park Farmers Market, and when it does show up, count me in for a THOR. Is it the mashed potaotes spread on the thin and tasty bread? I discovered SwedeDish at one of those food truck gatherings where you stand in a parking lot and get dizzy from breathing in the gas fumes. Being the adventerous eater that I pride myself in, I went with the Swedish Meatballs (herring being far too sophisticated for me). Unlike the frozen ones at IKEA, these little balls tasted homemade and it seemed like they were rolled with love. They were served with lingonberries, the tart food that's trying to take the place of beloved staple Cranberry Sauce-in-a-can, homemade pickles and way too much mashed potatoes. On this chilly night, it was a comforting dish. My one complaint is the ratio of meatballs to potatoes. More meatballs are needed to justify $7. A few weeks back, I had my second sampling of food from the SwedeDISH food truck at the Winter Park Food Truck Stop. I tried food from the truck earlier this year (during the springtime), but my memory of it was pretty hazy - even the next day! - since a few friends and I had some drinks at Tom and Jerry's before checking out the food trucks. I needed to make a second trip here before I could write a decent and fair review. Both times that I ate at this truck, I had the Ragnarök, which is the truck's signature burger. Unfortunately, I don't remember its exact ingredients (I didn't take a picture of the menu during either visit), but the burger is very tasty. (See the picture I've provided.) If you've tried this burger, then you know how good it is. I was tempted to order something else during my second visit, but didn't bring enough money and still had to get a few things from some other trucks that night, so I didn't go overboard at SwedeDISH. Maybe I will try something different next time, perhaps as soon as this coming Thursday since I am planning on going to the WPFTS then. The woman who works at (or owns?) the truck and who has taken my order during both of my visits is very friendly. The truck seems to be enjoying success throughout town and I hope that it remains one of the mainstays in our city's roster of trucks. After tasting the Swedish Meatballs here, I thought I had died and gone to Valhalla. What is so great about them ? In the native language they are called Svenska kottbullar med potatismos, inlagd gurka och lingonsylt , we just called them Swedish Meatballs with mashed potatoes, it's easier to say. These flavorful home made beef balls getting covered with a cream sauce; add to that a dollop of lingonberry jam and some pickled gherkins. The jam provides some tarty sweetness the gherkins some saltiness and then to top it off you have to mounds of mash potatoes. It's a well rounded dish, simply perfect, simply delicious. read more

We have had food trucks at my work everyday for the past month and this is my least favorite truck and I will never spend money here again. They are super slow (even for the simplest of orders) and seem to run out of everything. The first time it was taking over 30 minutes to order and get the food and I couldn't wait that long. The second time I went a little later , about 1pm, and they were out of everything but hamburgers! I was hungry so i just got the burger. The was very little of the sauce or toppings mentioned on the menu and it was a bit dry so I had to track down some ketchup. It was an average burger you would get anywhere else, nothing special except it cost around 10 or 11 bucks for just the burger. What I got wasn't worth that. Ok , so I tried them again and that will be the last time. I ordered the special marinated roast beef on toasted roll with fried onions, special sauce etc etc. The bun wasn't toasted instead it seemed like a generic roll that just came out of the package. The roast beef was Ice cold, maybe that is my fault for expecting the beef to be put on the flat top and then on the toasted bun but it wasn't even room temperature it was like it came out of the ice box! There was hardly any sauce and the fried onion were more like the tiny fried onions you can buy in a can - but I only saw a few of those. It was not good. Ice cold, flavorless and I ended up throwing most of it out because it was hard to eat. Makes me also wonder why I had to wait 20 minutes to get such a cold lazy sandwich that had no heat to it anyway. read more

The last time I ordered food from SwedeDish I got the THOR, which for all of you hotdog lovers out there you are going to LOVE the Thor and even if you are not a big fan of hotdogs you are still going to love it! I had the Balder \ Surf 'n Turf burger and cucumber salad all of it was great. The sauce was very tasty, the patty was perfectly cooked, and blue crab was delicious. The staff is very nice. I do want to eat everything on the menu it all sounds so good. Only reason I didn't give five stars is the burger doesn't come with a side. I asked for a side of cucumber salad, and they had no problem with that. I finally caught up with the SwedeDish food truck at the Fashion Square Food Truck Bazaar tonight, and ordered the quintessential staple: Swedish meatballs with gravy, mashed potatoes, cucumbers, and lingonberry jam. Having traveled to Sweden before and sampled the local fare, this took me right back! All I needed was a shot of aquavite!!!! The beef sausage itself is nothing to write home about, but it's enveloped in a bed of crab salad and mostly-mashed potatoes. Yes - beef, imitation crab and potatoes in one bite. All of this Swedish goodness is held together by a slightly-crispy thin bread instead of the usual bun. It's Tuesday. That means, tonight is Tasty Tuesday in the Milk District. For more than two years, now, we have been visiting this assemblage of edible delights and we have our faves. One is Swededish where they think all we eat is the surf and turf burger. And, they are right. Beef well seasoned, topped with other stuff (all I know is it tastes good), that sauce someone else raved about and on top of all that, blue lump crab meat. It's about $12 but well worth it. If Swededish is at TT tonight (they are there, it seems, every other week), I will again feast on this jumbo of a burger. Oh, there are little, thin, crispy onion rings in the mix, too. Trust me, it is delicious. I have an idea: how about a Tasty Wednesday nearby. A Tasty Thursday? A Tasty Friday... This is by far my favorite of the food trucks. Oh, yeah. Anybody that has had more than a few meals with me has probably heard my bitching that not enough places offer Swedish meatballs. It's completely incomprehensible. Walk down the freezer isle of your local grocery establishment and you'll find Swedish meatballs offered by every single brand. They have to be popular, right? Visit Ikea, one of the few places around to offer the bite size meatwads, and over half of the plates are loaded with balls. My gal (who also enjoys the balls) and I both ordered the sample plate special ($7 each) to get a variety of offerings. I also decided to get an extra order of meatballs and mashed potatoes ($7.50). The rationale here was that a sampler may be small and I might want a bit more, but if I was full, I could always start off the next morning with a mouth full of balls. Our order was to go, and we were given 3 takeout containers in a bag. When I asked which ones were the samplers and which was the order or meatballs, the delightful woman laughed, held up an entirely different takeout box, and said that was the extra order of meatballs. Oh my, this is going to be a lot of food. So... The food. The sampler, broken down. 1 - Meatballs and mashed potatoes - You get 2 meatballs (hey, it's a sampler!), some mashed p's, cream sauce, and a bit of lingonberry jam. Even with my love of meatballs, this was not my first bite, so my gal had one her hers first. "It's very meaty." She exclaimed. As I gave her the look of "Yeah, no shit, they are MEATballs, dummy.", she continue. "They are very dense. Seems like more meat and less filler than other places." It was a pretty perfect description. I'm use to going somewhere and being able to eat countless meatballs of the same size. These obviously have a lot more substance to them. While they were very, very tasty, I can't help but think they might be better if they weren't made with lean ground beef. I felt just a bit more fat would have made them a bit more moist, which would have really been perfect for me. The lean ground beef is probably a draw for others, so I'm probably in the minority here. 2 - Hot dog wrap - Thin bread wrap stuffed with an all-beef hot dog, mashed p's, spices, and fresh crab salad. I'll be honest... I was more curious about this item than looking forward to it. Fresh crab salad with a hot dog? It sounded like somebody put the menu together while hanging out next to the truck while the paint dried. "A favorite fast food in Sweden after a night out". OK, so it's an actual item. It ended up being the surprise hit of the night. No matter how hard I try, I can't think of a way to describe this item. It's so unique, but oh-so delicious. I'm not sure how the size of the sample version compared to when you order it by itself, but I can imagine this fucker can be filling very fast. If I were in public, I probably would have had to explain to a bunch of strangers on how amazing it was. Since I was with my girlfriend and she had her own, she basically just looked at each other with our mouths stuffed, pointed, and approved. I'm planning another trip to Swededish sometime just so I can get a whole one of these. 3 - Potato cupcake 4 - Cheese and onion pastry I'm lumping these items together because of their similarities. I loved the potato cupcake (don't even ask what's in it, I'm an idiot and figuring that stuff out... Maybe Gargoye skin and cheese?) and really enjoyed the cheese and onion pastry. I could see myself eating a tray of the potato cupcakes, holding a viking sword in one hand, while declaring "MORE!" from the little people below. Both of the items came with... Well, I'm not entirely sure. It seemed like onions and a little cabbage, but I don't want to say that's what it was because then if I'm wrong somebody might kick me in the dick and say "Hey idiot, it was this, not that!" So, they came with something. I enjoyed it, but I probably only needed half as much. So the sampler? Dynamite! What a great deal for $7! Lots of food, and you get all sorts of tastes. It also filled me up enough that I decided to leave the other order of meatballs until the next morning. The order of meatballs made for a wonderful breakfast. I already covered the items in there. It's just... More. There are only 5 or 6 meatballs in an order, and 3 decently sized scoops of mashed p's. The creme sauce, lingonberry jam, and pickled gherkins are all there too. While the night before I was annoyed that there were only 5 or 6 meatballs, after eating them I understood the numbers a bit more. I would probably campaign for an extra meatball or 2 and lower the amount of tator's, but that's also after the incredible deal that is the sampler plate. Since the sampler is a special though, I don't think it's always going to be an option. It's not a question of if I'll be back. The question is, "How soon is now?" Hrmmff.
