The jalapeños added a great touch; not too spicy, but a small kick. Love that the sauces helped make the hot dog feel that it wasn't dry and overall just mixed together for a great flavor. Got the 2(hotdogs) for 11, when prices range around $6-7 per hot dog. We got the "El Borracho" which included a soft bun and a tasty hotdog which was topped off with Mexican street corn, cottage cheese, and other toppings. Tasted absolutely crazy all together in a good way, was sweet and salty at the same time. Would order again. Our second hot dog was the "La Pelirroja" which also included a soft bun but topped off with different sauces and condiments. It had a very citrusy, sour-ish taste because of the tajin and lime but it also wasn't too overpowering. My 600th review goes to the amazing Cholo Dogs! I've been wanting to try this pop up for a long time and lo and behold they were at GB's Bottle Shop when we stopped in for some drinks. They had a deal of two dogs for $10. We ordered the Borracho topped with Mexican corn, cotija, Tajin, and cilantro and the Pelirroja with avocado sauce, crema, and Tajin (also usually comes with red onion but we omitted those). The gentleman slinging our weens was super friendly and cool to chat with during our short wait. We dug into our dogs and they are worth the hype I've heard! The dogs themselves are good quality and well prepared and the blend of flavors from the toppings are delicious! The Mexican corn is delicious and also available as a side so I'll definitely get some extra next time. Overall, Cholo dogs takes a basic food and makes it awesome! This will be a go to spot for a hot dog craving for me for sure! read more

Hot diggity-dog! Cholo Dogs is one of the best, if not the best, hotdog I've ever had in my life! So glad to be able to try them at Beer 'Merica when they set up shot at Ivanhoe Park. With a small menu, it was easy to choose what we wanted. All dogs are unique and very different from each other. We got the LA PELIRROJA & CHOLO DOG (no Tajin) and it was at a discounted rate if you get two dogs. The food is made to order so we didn't mind waiting for a good dog. Our first bite was like eating a hot dog for the first time. The dog was fresh off the grill and smoking hot, the bun was so buttery that it melts in your mouth, and the toppings are fresh and a burst full of flavor that you wish you got a second dog for yourself. Their entire menu is delicious, but I have to say that the Chicano and Cholo Dogs are my favorite. Get the 2 Weens for $10 and you're golden. The elote is good, but sometimes the corn quality is a bit inconsistent -- some days, the kernels are dry, and some days they're juicy (it's got the juice!). Service is loud, friendly, and fast. El growler and Franco finisher were AMAZING! It was our first time getting them and they popped up right outside Gaston edwards park! The combo of ingredients on top of a typical hot dog and bun make this a fun treat to splurge on and enjoy- especially after having a couple of drinks. The food was great! They had a stand at Exploria Stadium during a recent soccer match. We tried to order two Cholo dogs but they insisted on one Cholo and one El Borracho. I'm not used to being overruled in a food order but the Borracho hot dog was life-changing. It has Mexican street corn, cotija cheese, Tajin seasoning and is topped by fresh cilantro. I have the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap but the Borracho was so good that didn't matter. Must find this place again no matter where it moves. read more

There's obviously been a lot of thought put into these pairings because the flavors are perfectly balanced. Super friendly service too, which is always a plus. An added bonus was that we were introduced to Liquid Death, a sustainable water brand that we're heading to the store to buy more of tomorrow. They serve Nathan all beef hot dogs on Martins potato rolls which is how I make them at home and one of my favorite combos. Their toppings are the real star of the show though. My favorite was their same names "Cholo Dog" which has two sauces, looked like bbq and a aoli, jalapeños and Tajin. Which I never thought of as a topping before but after this experience I'm sold. The crowd favorite seemed to be the "Borracho" which came with Mexican street corn on it. I liked that one as well but my girlfriend really enjoyed the "La Pelirroja" which came with mayo, avocado crema, red onions and tajin. They also hooked me up with a "secret menu" item which I forgot the name of but came with flaming hot Cheetos on top! Overall, it was a great experience, even when busy! The guys behind the grill are friendly and boarder-line stand up comics. While waiting for our food we really enjoyed the cashier yelling patrons names and his witty responses. First off, the prices are great (the more you buy the cheaper they are), second, the owner is super chill and third, the dogs were delicious! Nathan dogs are the best in the biz for a reason. Now this is where the magic happens. After the creme and cheese are laid out in heavy fashion a spear of pickle placed on, then a sprinkle tajin with some lime.. boom...its like sex in the mouth.
