We visited, and spoke at length with Elizabeth Hagen, who was extremely kind, knowledgeable, and promised to find a selection of rings for us to choose from, since she had access to any ring in the vast Tiffany network. We returned the following week, and Elizabeth showed us three rings very near our price point and one substantially above it. Each ring was, as requested, exceptional for cut, clarity, color and polish, but varying in carat size, and with slight variations in color or inclusions. All were very beautiful. They were also relatively expensive, compared with other, less prestigious stores. But here's the thing: if you are not extremely well-informed, you are much better off with a knowledgeable salesperson, such as Elizabeth, at a store with an impeccable reputation. You can buy from Tiffany with confidence, knowing your stone is exactly as described by their in-house graders (most stores use GIA to value their stones, but Tiffany has its own, and despite what competitors will tell you, their grading system is absolutely trustworthy). And it would be foolish to ignore the value-added aspect of the Tiffany name--their jewelry is prized among collectors. And there's no denying the sheer romance of shopping in an elegant store, with a charming and attentive salesperson, and leaving with that iconic little blue box. Priceless.

She was very unfriendly and after I quickly selected a random candle, she still did not explain that the rest of the return was in the form of a gift card which she had thrown into the bag without telling me. I turned to the person in line behind me and gave them the gift card. I am assuming that most of the customers are from out of town and that a gift card would not only be inconvenient but would probably not get used. The shop is cute and has nice things, but I would not recommend it to anyone. Maybe some training on customer service would also be worthwhile for the staff.

I purchased a custom suit from this location about 3 months ago and wanted to wait until I wore it on numerous occasions. Custom tailored suits are supposed to look custom, but I can honestly say every time I put on my suit it looks like I'm swimming in it. When I got measured back in March, the salesman asked me what size pant I usually wear. I told him, and his response was, "well you must have put on some weight!" Not a good start and I had not. He didn't ask anything about what style I liked or anything. I have a narrow frame and many jackets look way too wide in the shoulders. While trying on the jackets to get a sense of what fits, I mentioned it to him and he said, "that's why you're getting custom. It will all look much better when it's tailored." Cool. Fast forward to the first fitting: the jacket was horribly wide and pants were WAY too baggy. I told him my concerns and he assured me (again) that these issues would be fixed with the final tailoring. Come my final fitting, things were looking better. HOWEVER the issues I mentioned in both of the previous fittings weren't properly taken care of. Shoulders way too wide. Pants way too baggy. Rise way too long. I mentioned it yet again and instead of trying to fix the issue, he brought over another sales associate to have him tell me that it looked "like it should." I don't care what either of their opinions were. I did not feel like it looked good and spent a decent amount of money on the suit. I had an event for which I purchased the suit the following weekend and it couldn't be tailored again in time. Also, they assured me that the issues I mentioned were not fixable, as the style of this suit wasn't a narrow shoulder and they didn't even carry shoulders as narrow as I wanted. Now, I need to wear a suit for work and every time I put on this suit I feel frustrated and end up opting for another in my closet I got off the rack at Dillards or Macy's.

I decided to head to the store a few days later to check it out in person. When I made it to the store the place was buzzin' with excitement. I was welcomed very quickly and the girl was happy to show me the dress that I had seen online. There was quite a line for the fitting room, but I decided that it was worth it to wait and try the dress on to make sure that I liked it. Turns out it was too big, so I left empty handed and ended up ordering a smaller size online. Even though I didn't walk away with the dress in hand, I spent some time browsing the store and I feel like Francesca's has really stepped it up! They had a full section of cute gifts (including gift bags and cards), wedding related items, household decor, and jewelry. I saw so many things that I would have bought, but that day I wasn't about to abort my mission. This experience has made me add Francesca's to my list of stores to look into when I need a special outfit!

This is the only location on the East Coast between Boston and North Carolina, though there is another location in Charlottesville... However, Francesca's has a pretty local model, and not every store carries the same items... the store in Short Pump Mall has a great selection of jewelry and accessories situated in the middle of the store, and racks upon racks of trendy dresses and separates are on the walls. This is the ultimate location for a unique graduation dress (high school or college), or an adorable date night dress. The dresses are all very reasonably priced (most are between $32-$48) and while I wouldn't say they are appropriate for a semi-formal, they would work for anything less formal than that. When I was there I saw several young women trying on dresses for dances and graduation... While the dresses definitely stood out for me, they also had some adorable skirts and really cute tops. Some of the tops could definitely be work-appropriate, when paired with some more conservative pieces... they were all pretty unique and fresh- lots of dusty pink, teal and grey and everything had ruffles and fabric flowers and jersey matte fabric... the jewelry section featured lots of oversized pearls in colors like grey and pink, plus large bohemian style earrings and chunky cocktail rings. This place is definitely worth a trip if you are updating your wardrobe for vacation, looking for a dress for a specific event, or if you want to update your look with a few new affordable trendy pieces. However, three things to note- 1. The selection is pretty small- only a few items in each size go to each store. So if you see something you like- GRAB IT. 2. There aren't that many dressing rooms (maybe 3) but I was there on a Tuesday night and it wasn't too crowded... 3. Just like a boutique, the service is personal, and not rushed. The ladies who run the store are awesome, will point you in the right direction if you are looking for something in particular, and said that they get new merchandise Monday through Friday, so if I am ever looking for something in particular, to just let them know and they'll order it for me and let me know when it arrives!
