Finally got a chance to check out this place! I loved how things were sorted by color AND also by size. I was surprised at how organize things were. Prices were pretty solid! They have a front row of "featured" items that might be a little pricier but if you go beyond that row, you might find some cool things! Even a kids section and book/decor section in the back. Despite how big the store was, their men's section unfortunately was pretty small. There were a couple dressing rooms which were very clean (but kinda tight if you're a tall person). I wish that they had more mirrors around the store so it's easier to try jackets, shoes, etc. Staff were pretty friendly and the return policy was clearly listed at the cashiers counter. A couple parking spots are available on site. Excited to go back to thrift for some new gems! read more

I found myself in a pickle when a day trip to Richmond got extended because I was made aware of an event that was happening in D.C. the following day that I HAD to go to. I only bought one cute outfit with me, and I needed another, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. After a quick search on Yelp, I found The Clothes Rack. From what I remember the men's selection was smaller when compared to other thrift stores/consignment shops; however, I was still able to get in and out in 10 minutes and found a cute outfit for D.C. for under $10. #WeLoveToSeeIt read more

Stopped here passing through on my way home to DC. They had a combination on vintage and modern pieces. What I loved about this place was the cashier Jenna. They have a decent selection of clothes, they're generally all over priced for a thrift store, I can't see coming back here. The dresses and jeans vary from 7- 15 and up. The style of the clothes aren't impressive, they are Eddie Bauer and Xpress, cheap "botique" style dresses. The jewelry outs set up in cases in the front but is broken (watches without glass), plastic, and over priced. $5 for a pair of goofy looking fish earrings. Their housing housing goods and fabric selections were bare bones. They also don't barter, I always check, esp for broken items if they willing to cut a deal to very rid of things. If they don't, no big deal. Why've I rated it at 4 stars? The location is perfect, the size is ideal for a thrift store, the store was clean and well organized, and the customer service was chill. read more

The smell in this place was absolutely unbearable. I love thrift stores, and I realize that some of them have that stale smell, but this was just offensive. The stench was like a cross between fart and mold, ICK! That being said, if you can get past the stench, there are actually some really great finds in here. The prices are pretty much identical to good ol' Goodwill, which means they aren't exactly cheap by thrift store standards. Blazers are $7, just like Goodwill, and that's typically the first thing I look for. I found some seriously cool blazers, but mostly in size medium. I found a like new Nine West purse for 9 bucks, and an a nice gold silk H&M blazer, plus a funky Old Navy blazer that I unfortunately had to leave since it was just too big. Beyond clothing, there was actually a surprisingly nice selection of decor. The home decor, although limited, was very nice and modern. I saw a number of throw pillows that I loved. The book selection was ok, not amazing, but not full of drugstore crap either. Also, the cashier at the front was very friendly and seemed to know her regular customers. In short, I'd definitely return if I was already in the area, but I wouldn't make a big drive just to get there because, as the name suggests, the primary focus here is definitely clothes, and I like thrift stores with a wide selection of books and housewares, too. read more

This is a really cute thrift store in Richmond, VA. It has a variety of items, including knick-knacks, clothes, and house decor. I personally couldn't find anything that I liked, but they are a good store nonetheless. I enjoy a good thrift. The prices here are a little high here though, and as an avid thrifter, I could not bring myself to pay a lot for a men's blazer. read more

I've found some really good finds here and the place is exceptionally well-organized, which is not always something one can say of thrift stores which are also relatively low-priced. I don't recall the smell everyone else mentions, but I need to duck in and see about maybe locating a new pair of pants, so I will update this after I've had a chance to go back and check on that. read more

Clothes Rack smells like grandma's house when you walk in. They have all types of women's clothing: teeny-bopper-ish to grandma to stuff that should remain in the 90s. All different brands, too: J.Crew, Ralph Lauren, Banana, Calvin Klein, Gap, Express, cheaper brands, and expensive stuffier brands. Tops are regularly priced at $3 and 5. I spent a good hour going through most of the women's clothes and accessories. I came out with 9 tops, a Theory skirt ($5 originally), a vintage dress, and a leather belt for $33, granted everything was 50% off this month! The women at the cashier was friendly and let me take a ton of stuff into the dressing woman. Check out Clothes Rack if you're in the area, but be prepared to go through a ton of stuff. read more

I had high expectations of this location since it is so close to Carytown. I couldn't help but notice the feel and smell of an old house with mothball-filled closets as soon as I entered. Though the store was nicely organized (by types of clothing and color), I didn't feel there was anything that made it stand out when compared to other thrift stores. Whenever I need to pick up clothing I always make Clothes Rack part of my big three stop. I start with Diversity Thrift, hit the Hall Tree, grab lunch in Carytown and end with Clothes Rack. This Junior Women's League boutique is almost directly across from the Cary Street Cafe. For the month of July they are marking EVERYTHING 50% off. This is not my mothers thrift store. I got a great pair of LizGolf Pants, which I needed very much. A really cute Ann Taylor T Shirt, DKNY Capris, Talbots Capris, A beautiful Nicole Miller Mens Dress Shirt and a Burberry of Londons mens golf shirt. I spent less than $50.00. This is about the only way I can dress well on the golf course. Golf clothes for women are incredibly overpriced. The women who work here are very nice and helpful. Everything is grouped by color which is helpful and the shop is clean and well lit. All for good causes too. read more

I find The Clothes Rack to be pretty underrated as far as thrift stores go. The merchandise ranges from steal to silly overpriced, but there is a color tag system that allows everything to rotate to sale prices. The front of the store focuses more designer labels/more expensive items and can be a little ridiculous price wise, but if you delve deeper through the aisles, there are some really great bargains. I've found in particular some really nice vintage, older pieces that were very cheap and in very good shape. The shoes section is also worth checking out, as most of the items there are in great shape. It's not the kind of store where you're guarunteed to walk out with a bagful of gems every time, there is a decent amount of stuff but not the levels of the bigger thrift stores, and sometimes they just don't have what I'm looking for, but when I do score here, I tend to score big. read more

Most of my clothing comes now comes from The Clothes Rack. I have found many amazing pieces there such as two Burberry quilted jackets, Tory Burch flats, and Tory Burch sandals. I recently got a Tahari light gray suit for $32 that fits me perfectly. Some people have commented on the smell...I really don't notice any smell besides what a normal thrift store smells like. What I love about The Clothes Rack is that all of the profits go to The Junior League of Richmond, and hence back into our conmmunity. The Clothes Rack is actually the #1 fundraiser for The Junior League, and it has been a staple in Richmond for more than 65 years. Their website says "In the last 25 years, the Clothes Rack has returned over $2 million to the Richmond community." The Junior League of Richmond is a wonderful community service organization and they do so much good in our city. The volunteers and staff work tirelessly to make sure the store stays organized and as up to date as possible. They regularly have 50% off sales and "Fill up your bag for $5" sidewalk sales.
