Furnish is an amazing organization helping find forever homes in and around Richmond. They are a non-profit organization with funds donated to our local county humane societies, kennels etc. They offer free dog food to families in need to assure their pets are fed during difficult times. Nice varied items from rarer older pieces to cute items that are reasonably priced. The layout was open and easy to navigate. They have furniture, decors, kitchenware, clothes, books, toys, etc. Diffusers in many parts of the store were somewhat helpful with the smell. read more

You find some cool stuff here in the way of furniture and housewares, but it definitely smells. The back, especially, smells like pets. They do adoptions, and it smells like it, particularly in the back. They try to use diffusers for the smell, but that just ends up being irritating in a different way. Prices are wildly variable and inconsistent. I have never seen thrift store prices that are so unpredictable and seemingly without basis. That being said, bring your patience, and you'll likely find something. The clothing wasn't my thing here, but they seem to have a focus on furniture. The space is organized, and they have lots of surprises, such as tons of fabric, both fragments and entire bolts. Weekends are super busy, but I didn't see any of the cutthroat practices other thrift stores with good selections often have among customers. Staff seems very friendly. 3.5 stars because of the prices and pet smell. Note: They have free cat food that you can get maybe a ziplock bag or two. It says the quantity on the sign. read more

This is the only place I donate clothes and household goods and decorations to now. They take time to sort through donations and display them in the best way. I think Furbish thrift is one of my new favorite thrift stores in the rva area! I recently went after a friend recommended it to me and my partner. They said the funds support local animal shelters so I didn't need any more encouragement that I had to visit. The store had a huge variety of things which included clothes, furniture, art, kitchen glassware, toys, books, and a butter churn!! (see image below) We were specifically in the market for a new dresser and a comfy accent chair for the living room and we found exactly that and (of course) a few more things- a couple books, clothes, and an etch-a-sketch! The prices are also super reasonable. I visited a few thrift shops that Saturday and Furbish was on the lower end of the price spectrum for richmond! The delivery price was also super reasonable at 40 flat fee for as many items as you like. They said it can take a week or two, so I wouldn't count on it if you are in a rush if but I'm happy it's a service they offer. I've brought many donations here this year as well, and I much prefer dropping off my unwanted but still in good condition items to Furbish over national chains like Goodwill. Furbish Thrift is such a hidden gem. They have every kind of thing you'd want to thrift from clothes to furniture to homegoods and more. The best part is by supporting them you support animal welfare organizations in Richmond. They also have a dedicated pet adoption room in the back with wonderful resources for your pets. On my first few visits, I've found that some things can be a bit pricier than I'd want, however, on this visit there was an incredible sales associate that went above and beyond to help me. I came to this thrift store hunting for baskets. A lot of my friends have fall birthdays and I love making birthday baskets. All of the baskets were in hard to reach places with notes that said ask a sales associate. I found one and not only did she help me grab the baskets I wanted, she also noted what was on sale, helping me realize the baskets were much cheaper. I also was on the hunt for taper candles (I'm going through a taper candle phase). She pulled out a HUGE container filled with them and let me pick from so many, I was beyond thrilled to take the candles home. I had an amazing time here and found some really cute things (got two pink glass tea cups and a mini orange glass cup). I'd highly recommend checking out Furbish Thrift. read more

I'm not a regular shopper at thrift stores, but I know a lot of people who are. I went in here on a whim after going to the annex side to get some free cat supplies. Just out of curiosity, I went into the thrift store to look around, and literally within seconds I found something I needed for a great price. What really got me was how neat they have things set up. I will go back here for sure simply because I like the way they have the store set up and they have some really great stuff. read more

Furbish is a cool place with a cool mission- they donate to a ton of local animal rescues and shelters, and even have a pet food pantry outside their store, free of charge! I absolutely love that and it makes me more confident about shopping here. Their prices are pretty fair, especially for clothing/shoes and misc items. Furniture is hit or miss, but most antique/thrift shops tend that way. They did have a small pride flag above their register, which always makes me feel more comfortable :) The staff were really nice and helpful, and they complimented the items we bought too. We didn't have a lot of time to spend here but I like the vibes and will be back! read more

The prices are all over the place! This thrift store has some great prices and some ridiculous prices. Mostly thrift goods, furniture, lamps, dishes, clothes and shoes (which take up the whole back room and it's hard to sort through the racks - claustrophobic) etc., you may find a few cool antiques scattered here and there. The colored stickers on the price tags get discounted at certain times, so I found a handful of darling creamers for pittance! Some of my finds were $.50-$1.00! It's certainly hit or miss, but it's like winning the lottery when you find an amazing bargain! If you love thrifting, you will love browsing here. read more

I love this new thrift shop located in the Stratford Hills shopping center. It is nicely organized and curated - there are tons of furniture, artwork, decor items, books & clothing items. I also love that they support local animal shelters. They even have a free pantry outside for those in need. The staff are always really pleasant and helpful. At the moment, parking might be a little tough while construction of the Sheetz is happening but there is plenty of parking available around the back (near Eat66). Highly recommend you stop by and shop (or donate). read more

My Steve and I are new to Richmond in the midst of furnishing our apartment. A friend told us that she and her roommates chose to get furniture from Furbish rather than shop in a traditional store. The employees and volunteers are top notch. One young man in particular really went above and beyond. We told him what we needed and he personally helped us pick out each item. Everyone we spoke to was kind, friendly, and encouraging. And when we found out that proceeds go to help animals, my Steve and I were as my grandmother put it over the moon. I volunteered at an animal shelter then a cattery in our home state of New Jersey. I hope to help out at a shelter here in Richmond in the very near future. My husband also bought me a lovely blouse. Furbish isn't just furniture, it's clothes in all sizes, books, dishes, and other household items. We paid for our merchandise and the total including the forty dollar delivery fee was under two hundred dollars! We got two chairs for our living room, a small dresser and a lamp for our bedroom and TV tables. Our furnishings were delivered on the day and time we requested, and are turning our apartment into a home. We have more furniture to buy and you can bet we're getting it at Furbish! read more

My experience with Furbish Thrift has been absolutely amazing! I requested a pick-up for a bookshelf donation and the turnaround was so quick! I coordinated with Andy and he was friendly and flexible with my scheduling needs. The piece was picked up within a week of sending my initial request (which is *really* good for RVA). The pick-up itself was also smooth-- I couldn't be happier! I would definitely recommend this place for large donations.
