My experience here was great! I brought my wedding dress in to get dry cleaned. They have an option to preserve your wedding dress in a box so that it doesn't yellow in the next couple of decades. The dress was ready in a week and a half. And they gave me a text when it was ready for pick up. I also appreciate that this location closes at 6pm so I could come and get it after work. Would not recommend for alterations! I came here because the reviews were good, but the owner didn't even take my measurements when I dropped the clothes off. I asked them to make a skirt and dress shirt one size smaller, and I also asked if they could replace the button on my favorite business pants. When I picked up the clothes, they charged $55 total which averages to $18/piece. I was shocked at how expensive it was to alter 3 items. They made my business pants smaller and forgot to fix the button, but luckily they fixed them by the next day. The owner also made a comment about how the shirt was not a flattering color on me. I had a frustrating experience and will not be going back! I could've bought a used sewing machine and altered the clothes myself for that price. read more

While I have only used a tailor service once in my life--at Swanson's no less-this is where I will be taking my business. Despite being from the Bay Area, I have made it my sole mission to give Swanson's any future business I may have. The owner is more charming than a French countryside, and even warmer. I had a walk-in tailoring session, which took no less than 20 minutes, and any nerves I had for my first fitting were quickly calmed during this experience with the fantastic owner. Swanson's gives you the ultimate family-owned feeling, and I had no worries handing over my first suit to this business. Very friendly, very expensive, very wrinkled. Was looking for a new DC, due to a recent move so I gave them a try. The owner:associate who helped me was very professional and courteous. However everything came back super wrinkled, as if it had been pressed but then smashed in with other people's garments. As noted in the other reviews, the prices were 2-3x other cleaners. Shirts were $5 to launder and $15 for dry cleaning. Not worth it, esp when I had to re-iron everything. read more

I went to Swansons cleaners a couple weeks ago and had a lovely experience. It was very quick and easy to drop off my items, price was very reasonable. My clothing items were well cared for. I have taken some polyester items to a different cleaners (not Swansons) and the fabric was damaged and had started pilling, so I was worried about this, but the items look great after having them cleaned here. read more

Honestly this place is amazing and the owner truly cares about her customers. She is sweet and kind to me always. She continues to do great work and get it done efficiently. I am getting married today and on Tuesday I brought in my suite to be altered, I was panicked and didn't think I would be able to get everything done in time (totally my own fault) but when I explained my situation, the owner of the business took care of me and got everything done in time, which wasn't easy. I live walking distance from here and for convenience I thought 'd try. My partner used to use this place when he lived in Davis years ago. I love this location and the amazing Korean woman who runs it. She always remembers me and check how I am doing, shares with me her rods of wisdom and truly puts all her efforts into running a well maintained and efficient location! I turned in my beloved but dirty wedding dress to get cleaned here. It came back in about two weeks and 100 percent cleaner than dropped off. Every bead was still on the dress and nothing out of place. I also turned in a tulle over skirt. The total was about $320 for the two items, not sure if that's high but the service was great so I was happy to pay to get it back to it's pristine condition. read more

Great service!! The owner is really sweet. I took 2 coats for dry cleaning that also needed their pockets to be stitched. Since I was a first time customer, she stitched the pockets of both the coats for free. The dry cleaning service was great as well. I am happy with the cleaning service itself - clothing all came back, ready when I went to pick up, clothing well cared for. Their prices are remarkably high - this on its own would lead me to go elsewhere. But also the shop is really dirty / messy, and the shopkeeper was unmasked when I picked up my items during a statewide indoor mask mandate. Horrible service. Got racially profiled because of my "area code" of where i am from. On top of that, i only asked for several patches to be sewed on my sweater that i got for christmas. Apperently 8 was too much for a business that does that many times. I didnt even provide a date that i wanted it to be done. All i said was you tell me when you will be done with it, i just want it to be perfect and well aligned. She said that it was nice of me to not pick a date because of the work she had on her hands. So she chose 1 week for me to come back and pick it up. I wanted the patches to be fairly spaced out, and not cramped next to each other. And what did i get? Patches that are cramped and not alined. It was as if she didnt even care about it was going to turn out. WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN! read more

Very expensive for low quality, unprofessional, and disorganized service. Most recent example: Brought in two pieces and was told to come back on a specific day. When I did, only one of them was ready and the other couldn't be found anywhere in the store and the owner couldn't be reached. (They eventually got back to me on when the second piece would be ready.) When I tried the one piece on before an event, I found that it had been altered to be lopsided! One armhole was smaller than the other and that side was turned into a boatneck while the other side remained crew style... a beautiful piece ruined. Dry cleaning two shirts & one blazer set me back $25. Not sure if this is the normal price in Davis, but I find it a bit expensive. I swear I used to pay like, $3 a shirt back in San Diego. But from what I can tell, they at least did a good job. I dropped off my stuff on a Friday & was allowed to pick it up Tues after 4pm. They also say you can have same day service, but I'm afraid to find out how much that costs.. The also do alterations here. The worker quoted me $15 for a skirt hem. I didn't end up getting it hemmed there, so I can't speak to their alteration quality. read more

Went there to have a couch cover dry cleaned. She asked me if I've been there before and when I said yes, she asked me how much I've paid to have the same item cleaned. It seemed a weird question but I answered that I didn't remember. The problem is that when I asked how much I was supposed to pay this time she refuses to tell me. She kept saying that it takes time to look up in the system, since the prices change with size and material. I told her I could've wait but I wanted to know at least an estimate price. She kept saying that she couldn't do it since takes time. After asking her three times, I simply took my stuff back, told her it is a customers right to know the price of a service and left. Went back a couple of weeks ago to get my dress hemmed for graduation. Asked her to take off a few inches, and she did exactly that -- but didn't check to make sure the front and back are the same length! The back hem was straight and very short, but the front was curved (like normal) and a good length. I wasn't very pleased, but I was able to take it back to her to have it fixed at no extra cost. She was able to make the backside slightly longer by letting out the hem a little. If it's a simple hem, then you can just drop it off. But if it involves a little bit more work, make sure you try it on and have her mark your dress. I'm not familiar with alterations, so she should have offered to measure me. read more

Highly do not recommend ): Unfortunately, I sent a blouse in, and they damaged the beads on the blouse and the beads apparently melted while they sent it in. When they called about it, they were not apologetic about it at all, and just demanded for my address for which they can send a check to. Unfortunately, not a pleasant customer service. read more

They will lose your stuff again and again! They lost my dress shirt. Couldn't locate it for weeks. I only have 5-7 total dress shirts and use them all- not having one is a huge inconvenience to me. Finally after weeks of being short one shirt, I go out and purchase a new replacemenr dress shirt of equal value- if not a little less expensive. The owner writes me a check to reimburse me which I initially thought was nice and a good faith effort to show respect for me as a customer. But I was wrong!!! Mind you the shirt was under $50 and I replaced with a comparable shirt from same store. She(the owner) kept the receipt and cut all the tags. Then, one of her other customers returned the shirt that belonged to me a few weeks later. (This occurred bc the newish young woman the owner hired out of sympathy struggles to do her job accurately, closes the store 5-10min before their posted hours of operation/designated close of business time so she can leave early or count cash in the register to leave on time, brings her family/friends/boyfriend to hang out at the store, blasts profane rap music in the store with customers present- she makes me and lots of people very uncomfortable). Anyway, when I go to pick up another order, they demand I pay them back for the shirt! The new female employee whom the owner hired returned the lost shirt to me beforehand which the owner didnt like apparently. This employee never offered to pay for the shirt she lost- and it was the second shirt they LOST! Very disconcerting. This ordeal dragged on, I was accused of buying a more expensive shirt than the one they lost which is factually inaccurate. They made me feel horrible and lost a loyal customer! Now I tell my family and friends to AVOID Swansons cleaners in Davis like the plague! I am much happier now elsewhere bc the customer service at Swansons sucks. Never received an apology for the massive inconvenience caused to me, the burden, hassle- and then was suddenly expected to reimburse them bc they finally found my other shirt months later. They didnt account for a lot of things here- and they do not value your business- at all- and have no reservations about making that known to you. Too bad for them. read more

I took my comforter (it is one comforter that can be separated into two) for dry cleaning. The shopkeeper told me that they could finish the dry cleaning in 2 days with $2 extra charge with a total charge of $22. Two days later when I returned, another shopkeeper say that there was a terrible mistake and a comforter cannot be cleaned that fast. She said she would clean it ASAP then give me a call for picking it up. They NEVER called me for a pick up. After I couldn't sleep well for nine nights without my comforter keeping me warm, I called them and finally the shop keeper said my comforter was cleaned for $48 because the new shopkeeper thinks there are two pieces to the comforter. I could have bought a new down comforter with that price. Too bad I did not have evidence showing that it should be $22 instead because they charge you after they return the product. It is horrible for them to set false expectation and NOT call the customer for a pick-up. I would give them zero stars if I could. read more
