It's rare that I can say that I have been going to a single business for 25 years, but that's the case here! Granted, I do a lot less dry cleaning than I used to, as is the case with most of us I think. As a result, I've watched quite a number of dry cleaners go out of business in this town. Are they the cheapest in town? Nope. Not at all. They're not ridiculously expensive though. But most importantly, they are honest. If they don't think they can get a spot out, they will tell you. That said, I've been pretty shocked at what they've been able to do! I don't know if the woman who runs it is the owner, but I suspect she is because I've literally seen her every time I've been in for the past 25 years. She is lovely and helpful. I took a very special cashmere jacket with handmade ceramic buttons here for dry cleaning. My husband came to pick it up, paid for it, and then was told that the buttons were damaged. They had sewn on other buttons without any discussion that did not match. When my husband expressed his dissatisfaction and asked for a refund, this was refused. He was told that it was our responsibility because we should have removed the buttons before taking the jacket for dry cleaning. They took no responsibility for ruining a favorite piece of clothing. read more

I have reviewed this business previously and I must say they continue to meet my very high expectations when it comes to laundering my dress shirts, and particularly my jeans that I like to have starch with a crease down the front center most dry cleaners will not offer that service and don't provide that service. Wendy and her husband do an amazing job with all the work being done on site and not subcontracted out to a large laundry facility. I am house sitting in south davis and stopped by to drop off 2 shirts. At about 1 today after I arrived i asked how much it was and was told $6.50 per button up. I looked up & said "seriously?" "at almost every place in sacramento its $3.50". It challenged her a bit but why shouldnt it? She said "you go there". The people who have given this place 4 stars must think that dry cleaning a dress without ruining it is a skill sent down from god or something this store cashes in on poor aging south davis baby boomers who are too tired to go anywhere else. Several times they washed garments that i told them in no uncertain terms to dry clean years ago. This is no kind of "amazing" or "special" dry cleaner that one would take a wedding dress to. Its okay... And they charge prices .50 cents more than i've paid in downtown San Francisco. I have no idea who would rate this 5 stars. Theyre severely overpriced & borderline ripping people off, and they appear to be adamant about that. read more

One of the reviews for this place is whack. This yelper complained about bad customer service but I highly disagree with this person. Of course your business is going to get turned away if you ask them to do a rush dry cleaning job. If you had taken your clothes to them earlier in the week, they'll have your clothes ready in four or five days. If they don't have the manpower to do your order asap, I totally understand. Obviously, they're going to say no. I hate entitled customers who think that they are so important and expect to get taken care of immediately. Businesses have the right to refuse service. I took my items to the dry cleaners on Saturday and promptly got them back on Wednesday. Most dry cleaners have a turn around date within 3-5 days. Also, the same yelper expected them to know local competitors in the area to give them a reference. That's stupid. Again, she's expecting that they know all the other dry cleaning businesses in the area. Why doesn't this yelper give them the benefit of the doubt that truly don't know other nearby dry cleaners? Why can't this yelper just look it up themselves? Again, what annoys me the most is entitled people. I totally understand that if a customer had their clothes was damaged that they would write a negative review but come on, if you haven't even gone to the place to get your stuff cleaned/altered, you shouldn't give this place such a negative review. I think it is completely misleading. On another note, I had a good experience at El Macero. The two people there were super friendly and nice. Right when I walked in, they smiled at me and welcomed me in. Although they are on the more pricier side for dry cleaning, I had a pretty decent experience. The one issue I had with this place was that my sweater was a little damaged after it was dry cleaned. Two of the other items came out fine but the one sweater had its fabric ripped. The lady who answered the phone was quite blunt and just said, "today is the last day and there is no one else here but me, and I don't have time." First of all I find it hard to believe that she is the only person there, on a day that they say is their last day to do clothes, and she has to do everything herself, BS! I took an older cashmere coat that had a torn lining into El Macero Cleaners just hoping they could patch the torn areas. To my great surprise they replaced the entire lining! Exorbitant prices - when I asked why my coat was so expensive to clean she said because it had stains on it. It's a black wool coat, it had lint on it. Basically they called everything stained so they could charge a premium. I will never go back here. Check your prices around town, this place is out of whack. read more

I have used this dry cleaner for three years for suits, tuxedoes and my Indochino dress shirts. This is an excellent dry cleaner and Wendy (one of the family owners) is absolutely awesome. They have never had a problem with a garment cleaned or repaired by them. The prices are reasonable and the customer service is excellent. I have requested, and received, excellent rush service when it was necessary. In all my years of coming here, I have heard the owners interact with many customers while dropping off and picking up. The previous review is incorrect. They do all alterations out of shop and I was told that it could take as much as a week to do the alterations I requested, which was the sewing on of a button. Took my black pea-coat to get cleaned. Still had dog hair all over it when I picked it up. I asked about it and the gentleman said, "Well, we have to pick them off one by one." I lifted up the pocket flap and they hadn't even lint-brushed. The underside was still covered in lint and hair as was the inside of the coat. I'll be taking my cleaning someplace else. They send out the work, and I think they do pickup/dropoff on Tuesday and Thursday so be aware of that if you have a time sensitive alteration need. Price was very reasonable compared to the other cleaner and she was able to get it to me within 3 days. We'd been going to El Macero cleaners for over 15 years and always liked Wendy and her husband, the co owner. Once there was a problem with a garment but I overlooked it. However, a couple of months ago my husband picked up the clean laundry and was told we weren't charged for my linen Eileen Fisher top. The top was a cornflower blue and is now filled with areas of no color. I took it to the store of purchase and was told it had been bleached out by dry cleaner fluid. I took it back to Wendy who explained her husband was "just getting out coffee stains". On the shoulder, really? I asked if she'd consider paying half to replace it and she declined.
