10 Star for Dr. Swann 1 Star for front office. More than a month before treatment, I was provided with an itemized treatment with detailed fees. I called the office a week before treatment to make sure my remaining amount to paid is still correct, which they said yes. Went in for treatment, paid the amount due. All is good. The procedure went well and Dr. Swann is excellent. 2 months after treatment, I received a statement with a 3 digits balance. I called the office and Linda picked up the phone. She said, "oh this is weird, let me check and get back to you." Nothing. Another month went by, another person from their office called about the balance. I told her I called and Linda said will call me back, she said there was no note of that call. Long story short, I am so pissed with this seemingly bait-and-switch tactic of getting more money from the originally agreed amount. The lady on the phone said she will escalate it. read more

I attempted to schedule a consultation with Linda (front desk) but she had the worst attitude. She placed me on hold for 5+ mins checking the available appointment times. When I asked her what insurance would cover for extractions before I visited she didn't lift a finger to even TRY to call my insurance, instead she suggested for me to do so and apparently they don't check coverages until 2 days prior of appointment. Call me crazy, but all the other dental offices I've visited never gave me a hard time for simple questions.. I've read reviews about how the doctors are amazing at what they do, but receptionist is clearly steering business away. Doctors if you're reading this, I think it's best enroll your employees with basic customer service skills. Cancelled my appointment, on to the next. read more

I was recommended by my dentist (Dr. Lum who is also an excellent dentist) to get my wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Swann. And let me tell you this....BEST DECISION EVER. Dr. Swann is very professional and courteous and his consultation made me feel like I was talking to a close family member. In his office you will see that he is rated one of the best Milpitas Oral Surgery doctor for many years running (2007-present) Furthermore, with his wealth of experience, he finished my complicated procedure (all 4 wisdom teeth, 3 impacted) quickly and efficiently. There was minimal swelling and barely any pain and I owe it all to his expertise. I highly recommend him for any oral surgery operation. You will not be disappointed. read more

This is for the office stuff. Dr Swann extracted my tooth in 2019 and 2018. Today when I called the office trying to find out which tooth were extracted but was told I'm not in the records. Be warned if you care about your records and do not be surprised if you hear from a lady talking as if she were president Putin. read more

My regular dentist referred me to this office for a wisdom tooth extraction and I'm glad that I came. The office staff was very efficient and friendly. They were able to look up my insurance without a problem and were quick to schedule and follow up with appointments. I saw Dr. Fong for the consultation and he predicted that there wasn't going to be any issues with the extraction and he was right. The procedure went smoothly and I was finished in about 15 minutes! Recovery was great and no problems. You should know that Dr. Fong is very to the point and won't waste a lot of time. For me that's great and I appreciate his efficiency! read more

I'm writing this review to warn people not to spend their money here. I had been referred here 3 times and Swann and Fong had been the only Oral Surgeons I've known (until I decided to find a place that treated me well and etc). This review is long overdue but I still remember my experience like it was yesterday. The first time was okay. I had to get surgery on my tongue and I was a minor so I didn't think much of the surgery, the fees, the booking, etc. I was with my Dad and he took care of all of that so no big deal for past 14 year old me. I believe my surgery was with Dr. Swann and I remember him as a nice guy. That was it. My second and third referrals were for wisdom teeth surgery. I had ignored my second referral (two years ago) and thank god I did because at that time, I would have been a minor and my parent's would have dealt with it, paying no mind to customer service nor pricing. I had schedule a consultation and on the phone, the assistant made it awkward for me to not know which Doctor to pick. I guess if you are going here, pick Dr. Swann. But then again, I do not recommend going here because the lack of customer service (like past Yelpers have reviewed) is so very sad. If you are going to (or your insurance) pay a lot of money for a big procedure, might as well go to a place where you feel like a valued patient or a place where you feel like your in good hands. The front desk is definitely too comfortable and will try to not lift a finger to help you if they can avoid it. I had a little less clarity on the insurance situation with my parents so I wanted to calculate the price with an extra provider and without an extra one and the front desk was super hesitant about it despite my explanation of the situation. She just continued to say, "but you won't have this insurance," even though it was not clear. As for my actual appointment, Dr. Fong did not personally greet me whatsoever in my appointment. He was rash and although straight to the point, had a whatever attitude and consulted my case in a rude, standoff-ish manner. Sure, he is a professional and this is not a nursing home where they need to baby me but at least treat me like an adult or just an actual person. This obviously is his job and I'm sure he goes through lots of patients through the month but establishing trust and care in each individual patient is important. I did not feel either of those. The way he spoke felt a bit demeaning when I asked about my options for anesthesia. He even laughed and questioned me when I was trying to explain my pain tolerance like my answer was a joke. To end it, their price was about $500-700 over other estimates I got. Again, if you are doing a major surgery like wisdom teeth and paying a lot of money (with the help of insurance or not), you should feel valued as a customer and a patient. read more

I saw Dr. Swann over a decade ago for wisdom tooth removal that was severely impacted and infected. I found him after going through at least three other dentists who all offered me useless advice and left me in pain and confused. The second I stepped into his office he was so warm and kind and immediately offered to grind my wisdom teeth down so I could close my mouth and swallow again for the first time in days, allowing the swelling to go down so I could actually have the surgery. He was amazing and I've never forgotten that. I don't even live in California anymore but felt compelled to write this review. What an amazing dude. read more

At the risk of waiting yet many more weeks to get in for follow-up treatment, this man and an associate internist saved my life. Dr. Swann sees things in x-rays and bone scans that others who are highly trained in the dental, medical, oral surgery and even radiology fields don't. Many doctors, oral surgeons and even docs at UCSF and Standford didn't understand how a very rare disease (from a botched root canal as a cutie little teen) caused such an extreme low grade infection that festered unknowingly for decades. No one ever believed me and now after a few decades of having a fun and normal life, my world has turned upside down with this damn thing. Dr. Swann took on my case & played an essential role in saving my life and proving to all the cynics that such a horrible thing could exist in a woman who looks vibrant, attractive and completely healthy. read more

I don't know about the doctor, but the staff is horrible and most unhelpful! I would not care to see anyone who allows such poor customer service. I called because a friend of mine referred me to this doctor. The reason I called because the doctor who put my implant in punctured sinuses and was not returning my calls I needed advise what to do about it. The woman who picked up the phone said I need to go back to whomever did the and have it fixed, Dr. Swann would need to get a written referral from another doctor to see me and he would not want to get in the middle of it anyway... And that is very interesting because he did see my friend WITHOUT a referral! Did I say the doctor responsible was NOT returning my calls? Tanks a lot for the advise! Nice to know you care! read more

Referred by my regular dentist who said that this guy is the best. He was right. I had a really surprisingly pleasant experience here. Of course, I was nervous about having oral surgery but Dr Swann and his staff put me at ease with their competent and professional manner. Dr Swann is very easy to talk to and kept up a (one-sided) conversation with me during the whole procedure. He managed to distract me so that I was not so nervous. His surgical tecnique is precise and minimally invasive. I was expecting pain and discomfort and did not experience any of this. I recommend him highly. read more

I'm not sure why it took me so long to come around on writing a review for this office. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed back in July and the process couldn't have been easier and more straight forward. (Mind you I work in a dental office as an RDA) The dentist I work for was unable to remove my wisdom teeth due to the impaction that two of them were so he referred me to an oral surgeon (that way they can put me under) in Los Gatos. I went in to get my x-rays and consultation but the office and staff weren't to personable. I figured heck, if I am going to have to pay for the surgery, i might as well go somewhere that will be more welcoming and friendlier. I was referred here by a good friend of mine. I was able to get a consultation appointment set up right away. Dr. Fong reviewed over my x-rays and went over possible things that may happen. He was very straight forward and to the point. Answered all questions that i had regarding the actual procedure, healing time and every other question i had. I know the thought of oral surgery can freak a lot of people out but i felt extremely comfortable throughout the entire process (consultation & actual procedure) They were able to set my appointment up on a good day that worked well with my schedule. Actual day of the extraction, I was taken in and set up and was literally out like a lightbulb. Woke up in a different part of their office and before i knew it, i was getting walked out to the car by their assistant. They gave me very clear pre and post op instructions. The entire process couldnt have been any easier. Of course the whole healing process is a different story, so i understand that the rate of healing depends on the person and the severity of the tooth impaction. I came in for a follow-up appointment a week later but Dr. Fong who was the person that performed my surgery was not in that day so i got to see Dr. Swann. Very nice man and answered all my questions about healing and what i needed to do to help my healing process. Overall i had a wonderful experience! Their doctors, dental assistants and front desk personnel were all extremely nice and helpful. They provide competitive rates and payment plans that made it easy and comfortable for me, finacially. Thank you so much! read more

I have had some crazy teeth as a child and so I knew that when the time came, there was no escaping it. I had to go all of my wisdom tooth removed. My usual dentist, Dr. Vu (who is also incredibly amazing and nice.) offered to do the wisdom tooth in house and when I vehemently said no (I need to be knocked out for this snazz) he referred me to Dr. Swann. Nervous as heck, my family convinced me to try to only pull two teeth instead of all 4 so I could eat something during this terrible ordeal. I went in to tell the doctor (Dr. Fong) and he convinced me it was way better to just get it all out of the way. I pulled all 4 that day and I am soo happy I did. Dr. Fong is amazing and reassures any doubts you may have about the surgery. Now, everything was fine and dandy for two weeks or so until I felt something jagged poke my upper cheek. Touched it with my finger and realized it was probably a tooth fragment. (Normal to have tooth fragments if you have all 4 removed.) I tried wiggling it for a couple of days since I didn't want to go back and bother the nice doctor but eventually I had to as it bugged the ever living out of me. Cue yesterday where I went in without an appointment and they fit me in immediately! The nurses were incredibly nice to me (Don't know if he changed them.) and they ushered me in. This is when I met Dr. Swann. Came in and say hello and we ended up talking about the Giants win of the day. He is hilarious, funny, and so nice and kind, that he reminded me of one of those awesome uncles you always like to hang out with during holidays. He looked at my teeth and in about 5 seconds pulled out the peskiness out of my mouth. (It was ridiculously sharp.) I asked him some questions about the surgery and he answered them all patiently. I was ecstatic leaving the office. My mouth doesn't have something annoying in it and I went to go get Pepper Lunch (WHICH IS AWESOME!) in happiness. Now this morning I went to feel that top right of my mouth to see if anything felt weird and I did feel some more fragments coming in. I made an appointment for Monday to get them out and I'm sure that I'm going to have the same awesome service from them. Too long; Didn't Read: GO. This place is awesome. The doctor's are awesome! And as long as you are nice to the nurses, they'll be nice back to you. :) read more

Dr. Swann was a real pro, there was minimal pain, except the injection of a local which always hurts. Dr. Swann is my kind of practitoner, he has a sense of humor, a very professional demeanor even with the humor, and he gets the job done well. He approved of the music on my iPod and was generous with the pain killers, which are usually needed in abundance after oral surgery. I cannot recommend Dr. Swann highly enough. If he were a general dentist as well as oral surgery, he'd be my regular dentist. A great surgeon and a great guy. If you need oral surgery, he's the guy you want. read more

First and foremost, I thank Dr. Swann from the bottom of my heart for taking me on such short notice. I'm extremely self conscious about my teeth and all my previous dental experiences have been getting ripped into by my dentist about the bad condition of my teeth and how badly I need braces. Believe me, if I was financially able to afford proper dental care, I would jump on it at a moments notice. However, Dr. Swann was so cordial when going over my dental x-rays and made me feel like it was actually possible to achieve a perfect smile. He is obviously educated in his line of work, but spoke to me on a level that made me feel like I was talking with a close friend rather than someone who was condemning me to a life of suffering unless I dished out thousands of dollars immediately. I'll admit, I went into their office with the notion that I was going into a major surgery and it terrified me. I was worried about the pain I would feel getting a tooth pulled, how in the world I was going to get home (thinking I was going under anesthesia) and assuming it would be a long recovery time after the fact. I laid on the table and received two numbing shots which itself was an intense relief from the constant tooth pain I had been feeling for 2 days. After waiting about 30-60 seconds, Dr. Swann said I would feel a bit of pressure (more pressure was felt with the numbing shots the the extraction), and within a minute was told I was done. Done? Are you serious? I couldn't believe it! Could it had really been that fast and pain free? Apparently so and I have to thank Dr. Swann and his expertise for that. I received thorough aftercare instructions from the very kind assistant along with a print out and extra gauze, paid my bill (only $300 without insurance!) and left completely coherent and pain free! Bleeding stopped within a few hours of being home and nearly pain free even after the numbness wore off. Was so happy to fit in a 3 hour nap and slept like a baby all through the night. Until you have experienced a toothache, you have no idea what pain actually is, and I cannot recommend Dr. Swann and his staff enough to have resolved that problem! Hopefully, there won't be a need a need to go back, but if it ever does arise, I know exactly where to go. Thank Dr. Swann and staff! read more

OMG! What a Doctor! This morning, I was on my way to get my second wisdom tooth extracted, and my GF told me, "You sound like you are going to a game or to a movie!" Thats HOW comfortable I feel going to Dr Swann. He is extremely knowledgeable, aware of the latest and the best in his field, has a wealth of experience - more than half of the dentists in possibly the country and is the friendliest doctor I've come across! I've had three extractions from him, 2 wisdom teeth, and I can honestly say that these procedures have been less painful than some of the routine cleaning sessions I've had at an earlier dentist's office ;) His staff is very friendly, accommodating and easy to talk to! And one more thing, they have great music, live and peppy haha! My previous dentist always had a sardonic classical music playing and that seemed to make me even more anxious!! The lady at the front desk is very friendly and efficient, the exact type we should have for that role - not a minute wasted and on top of things with a blazing speed! The nurse and doctor's assistant, both women were total sweethearts and a big shout out for them! Now, I had a wisdom tooth extraction a few hours ago today, and here I am sitting and typing this review! Need I say more how good Dr Swann and his staff are? read more

Amazing!! I have seen Dr. Swann for three wisdom tooth extractions. He is simply the best at what he does.. Having wisdom teeth pulled and not needing a pain killer is impressive, how about having two pull and eating dinner a couple hours later with no discomfort!! Amazing doctor. He knows what he is doing that's the point. I was suffering with pain because my wisdom tooth had a cavity, i had to run to some place to get it removed as soon as i can. Dr. Fong is great. He is straight to the point and answer your questions even to the silliest one. I was under laughing gas and I got quite chatty. I asked a lot and he answered me anyway. I have never been treated so rudely in my life by his nasty receptionist. Dr. Swann may very well be a good doctor but I will never no because anybody that allows someone to treat his patients so rudely is not someone that I can respect. I am not just a chart folks. The day finally came and I had to pull out all of my wisdom teeth. I was recommended to Dr.Swann and immedately, I looked him up on Yelp, lol. You see, I don't do well with any type of surgery so of course I wouldn't just trust anyone. Saw that he had really good ratings. Made an appointment. Had a consultation. He's very professional, has a good sense of humor (which was exactly what I needed since I was already freaking out) and very knowledgable. A day later, he pulled out my wisdom teeth. The assistants were friendly and knew exactly what they were doing as well. They all made me feel very comfortable. The procedure was quick and did not hurt at all. ( I can't stand pain, believe me ) Before I knew it, I was out the door. He prescribed a very good amount of pain medicine. Plain and simple, this guy knows his sh*t. He's no joke and I would definitely recommend him. read more

I've seen Dr. Swann several times over the years. He's incredibly knowledgeable beyond just oral surgery and really understands the mouth and jaws' impact on overall health. He is one of the true bright lights that I have found in the health care profession. Great sense of humor, takes his time with patients, superb surgeon, and there is nobody else who comes remotely close in my opinion. He is also not quick to "cut"...in other words if there are better ways of handling a problem or something that can be resolved with time, nutrition, or other means he will suggest that first before surgery. I have total respect and trust for Dr. Swann. read more

I am almost 30 and I have been going to Dr. Neal Swann since I was 9 years old. He has performed several surgeries on both myself and my youngest brother. He is very knowledgeable, gentle, kind and charismatic. I love Dr. Swann and guarantee you there is no better Oral Surgeon out there! read more

As stated by all, his approach is wonderful; humorous yet still professional. He dx'd an issue that was mis-dx'd 15+ years. The only problem due to his being so respected is getting an appointment. Last time I called no one called back, so until I got someone I was unable to make an appointment. Keep calling if you do not get a call back. He is worth waiting to see. read more

I had my second tooth extraction with Dr. Swann today, my previous tooth was extracted 3 weeks ago. I am a nervous wreck about these types of things, Dr. Swann was gentle, kind and professional. His mannerism is very calming. Having a tooth pulled is not fun, but if you need to have a tooth pulled, Dr. Swann will make it as easy as it can be. Yes, he is funny - I told him I would be leaving him a favorable rating on "Yelp" and he said "what's Yelp, that something my dog does when I step on him". read more

I too, have had a GREAT experience visiting Dr. Swann. I was referred to by my dentist for a consultation. Unfortunately I get canker sores often and my dentist was concerned. Dr. Swann came in and made me feel so comfortable. He cracked jokes but maintained a professional demeanor. Most importantly, he listened to me and didn't give me the dismissive attitude some doctors do when you suggest theories of why something is occurring. He also gave me suggestions on books to read to help me with my problem. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. One other plus, his office has rooms that overlook a pretty little pond with trees and a dock...very relaxing! read more

I went to Dr Swann's office to get 9 teeth removed (4 wisdom teeth, 4 bicuspid, and 1 extra; none impacted). The consultation session was with Dr Fong and Dr Swann did the surgery. I asked to be knocked out and didn't remember how Dr Swann pull off the magic act, but the pain after surgery was barely noticeable!!! I only took 1 pain killer pill 3 hours after the surgery and that's it! I sat in bed all day long, waiting the pain to kick in, but nothing happened, no pain, no sore, no headache, no belly ache, nothing... My pain tolerance is really low and have been procrastinating forever to remove any teeth. It's simply beyond my imagination that teeth removal could be this painless. Many many thanks to Dr Swann! read more

Amazing! Today I went in to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out. I was very nervous but the nurses that got me ready were extremely nice. And talked to me so I didn't focus too much about what was about to happen. Right when I was done we went to pick up my prescription medication for the pain. I immediately iced my cheeks as directed ( 20 min on, 20 min off). I didn't need to take the medication because I wasn't in pain. Nor did I swell up like a chipmunk. Dr. Swann did an AMAZING job. I would give five stars because Dr.Swann is one of the best oral surgeons out there! But the only problem with his office is his staff, the nurse who was assisting in my surgery did not use the suction hose machine properly and periodically during the surgery, water and bitter anesthetic would collect in my mouth which I would end up spitting out on my bib. Other than this hiccup, everything was a breeze! Dr. Swann was very knowledgable, helpful and funny! He is a great, light hearted guy and it was awesome to have him as an oral surgeon! read more

I asked again to make sure that I wasnt going to be billed. 4 months later I get a bill saying I owe 133.00. I called spoke to them, person I spoke to was very rude about it all saying basically too bad your insurance didnt cover it all because I had a full mouth xray within the past 3 years? What? how am I supposed to know that, and they never asked me or checked to see whether I had one. I didnt have an option to say no to the xray which I would have if I had known. Dr. Swann is absolute delight. I am so glad my dentist (Dr. Amor - review for her coming up soon) recommended him for wisdom teeth removal. I went for a consultation early July this year. There was 15 minutes wait but I didn't mind because they had National Geographic Magazine to read in the lobby :) I had consultation with Dr. Swann for removal of all four wisdom teeth. BTW, he was super nice and friendly to me. Dr. Swann recommended that I should only remove three of them and keep one. He told me he would shave off some skin around the fourth one to make it easier to clean that tooth. We agreed on this procedure and I made my appointment with him for early August. On the day of my appointment, I came with over stuffed tummy since I knew I wouldn't get to eat proper food for couple days. After about 5 minutes of waiting, I was taken inside and asked to lie down on operation bed in a big room. It was an actual bed like you see in movies :) Anyways, his assistant injected anesthesia into my gums. About 5 shots. Dr. Swann started removing my teeth after about 5 minutes. I barely felt any pain. The pain I felt getting anesthesia shots was the most pain I felt during the whole thing. Before I knew it, he had already removed three wisdom teeth. And, then he told me I am done. When I asked him about shaving off the skin from the fourth tooth that doesn't need to be removed, he told me no need since it's moving closer to the other teeth and will replace the molar tooth that was removed by Dr. Pannu. (BTW, it hurt so much when I lost that molar tooth since it was totally Dr. Pannu and his staff's fault). Anyways, I was really happy that I will finally have something to replace that tooth that I had lost. My insurance covered most of the procedure and I had to pay about $260 out of pocket. The pain after anesthesia wore off was absolutely horrendous, but not Dr. Swann's fault since I am a total baby when it comes to any type of pain. But the prescription Dr. had given me helped me out a lot. I saw Dr. Swann after about two weeks for follow up, and he assured me everything was great. The wounds are healing properly. Pain went away after about 5 days and I was able to eat properly after about week and half. I would totally recommend Dr. Swann to anyone looking to get his/her wisdom teeth removed. Thank you Dr. Swann :) read more

Best best best. We didn't even feel it when he pulled out our wisdom tooth. He is super experienced.

Worst surgical experience ever. Lots of pain, swelling and bruising post surgery.Severe pain for 2-days, unable to sleep or eat, and residual pain for 2-weeks. Dr. Swann refused to prescribe any post surgery pain medication, even though I asked for pain medication three times, it was not provided. Pain medication was promised during the initial consultation, when I scheduled the surgery, and the day of the surgery, but than I was ignored, and was told to take advil or tylenol, which I can't tolerate for medical reasons. Dr. Swann's so-called sense of humor is inappropriate. Who wants to be told that he will sew your mouth shut while being stitched back together. read more
