I got in the next day for a visit, and was booked for treatment immediately. The staff is wonderful, the "quote" is clear and exactly that, an estimate of what my insurance will cover. The staff is a well oiled machine and work very well together. I met Dr. Yen, and he was extremely personable and caring. I did not feel rushed. I had treatment done under general anesthesia at my request, and was at ease leaving the appointment. Then I made the mistake of going on Tiktok and Instagram watching videos of aftercare and got really nervous. I almost cancelled but I am glad I didn't. When I returned for treatment, I did wait a bit long in the waiting room but Dr. Yen explained that when he entered the room, and the treatment staff was so kind and caring. I was clearly nervous and they really helped me get through it, I woke up with no issues or discomfort. I had the treatment 3 days ago, I have had ZERO pain. Slightly sore around my jaw, no swelling or bruising. I am so happy with my results so far, I will tell everyone about my wonderful experience.

In the initial consultation, I was informed that they have a contract with my employer and a discount(~85%?) and they provided me an estimate accordingly. Post treatment billing has been a nightmare. Their ledger kept adjusting. Earlier, they mentioned that the pending bill was a certain amount ( which is less than the yearly maximum that the insurance can cover). Once insurance mailed them a check for the yearly maximum, suddenly I see magical adjustment and I suddenly get a magic number added to my bill which I now owe. I ended up owing double the earlier estimate. If you are not concerned about medical/dental bills but just need a good oral surgeon, this is still a very good place. However, if billing/surprise expenses is a concern, please be very cautious *BEFORE* treatment. There are also lots of other options in the bay. I would suggest looking around.

My wife was in need to wisdom tooth extraction and we were referred to Dr. Yen for the same. Before the start of procedure, we confirmed with them if they are in-network (Metlife PPO). They said that they are in-network and gave an estimate of 190/- USD which we paid. After 2 weeks, we got a bill from Yen Oral surgery showing a balance amount of 250/- !! The claim they submitted with Metlife was for out-of-network. When I called up Metlife , they told me that Dr. Yen has specifically asked to be removed from network in the beginning of the 2021 (much before my wife's procedure). So convenient for them to not share this information. Today I went to Yen Oral to clarify this and I was told that "we are not partners with Metlife but we are a part of bigger umbrella which is partner with Metlife". I don't even know what that means because ultimately, they are out-of-network but claiming that they are in-network. I also asked if they provide estimates without checking with insurance provider. Based on the claim filed, the estimate should have been around 400/- USD instead of 190/-. For this, the only response was "I am sorry". I am going to take this up with my referring doctor and Metlife. But, please steer clear of Yen Oral to avoid this situation. That is, unless you want to be slapped by charges which are more than twice of initial estimate. Do Not Trust these guys.

I live closer to the Evergreen location but due to being in the middle of job changes, I did want to try and get my work done before losing the first dental insurance which Evergreen was fully booked due to being a smaller location with less hours. The Milpitas location was able to fit me into their tight schedule and honestly working with them has been so great from the receptionists to the surgery itself. They have always been very patient with my phone calls and any questions I may have had as I haven't had to navigate bigger dental work in the past. The overall wisdom tooth removal was easy, in and out within an hour, had no problems whatsoever with the healing, they did call to check up about twice, I think the day after and a week after, and they do provide monthly/6 month check ups which was nice. After seeing my other friends go through a wisdom tooth removal as well, this place definitely is worth it if you're in network. (Prices in network and out of network are a bit higher than what I was quoted through ~4-5 other places).

The procedure went well and Dr. Swann is excellent. 2 months after treatment, I received a statement with a 3 digits balance. I called the office and Linda picked up the phone. She said, "oh this is weird, let me check and get back to you." Nothing. Another month went by, another person from their office called about the balance. I told her I called and Linda said will call me back, she said there was no note of that call. Long story short, I am so pissed with this seemingly bait-and-switch tactic of getting more money from the originally agreed amount. The lady on the phone said she will escalate it.

The dentist comes in looks in my mouth for about 8 seconds and then says I need deep cleaning and a cap that never gave me any problems removed and redone. He said a gap between that tooth and another would cause me to eventually cause a root canal. I did not agree. I knew I did not need deep cleaning or a cap removed and redone. I asked to just have my teeth cleaned. He refused to clean my teeth unless I agreed to deep cleaning and a new cap. I got up off the chair and left. Set up an appointment with my old dentist. My regular dentist cleaned my teeth, x-rayed the tooth that so called needed a new cap and found no problems. No deep cleaning needed. Obviously to me he was trying to drum up extra income for himself. Then weeks later his office staff calls to ask when would I like to have my cap redone. Unbelievable!
