This is probably the worst massage experience ever! First of all their attitude was pretty bad and their service was not good, I feel more pain after the massage..! The worst thing is that they would complain about the tip and request you to tip more! They would pressure you to do it and if you don't tip well because you are unsatisfied. Please don't go here. Worst, weirdest massage experience I've had. I immediately felt uncomfortable when the man up front thought it was okay to tell me I'm "really pretty." A compliment is one thing, but the delivery was really unsettling. As other reviewers have mentioned, the woman was inappropriate in the way she was touching. I've had a lot of massages, but I don't know. This was not the norm. I felt so uncomfortable and kept squirming away. Then she kept walking in and out of the room, just leaving me lying there basically naked except for the sheet on me. I felt so vulnerable. I asked for hot stones and she brought them out and burned my back. She was even panting because they were so hot she couldn't hold them. I had to ask her to stop because it was far too hot. My back is literally burnt. This was the worst massage experience I have ever had. I've been so stressed and painful and really needed a good massage today, but I'm more tense than I was when I went in. Went in for an hour couple's massage. Was led to 2 separate rooms which was ok. I knew within the first 3 minutes this was going to be a waste of time and money. There was no method to the massage because this was not a trained masseuse. Best part was when she was done in under an hour so we can leave. My boyfriend right away asked me if my masseuse offered me a "happy ending" because his tried many times to touch him in parts that only a urologist should go. The best part was the demand for a tip! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I am so upset with our experience. My fiancé and I were looking to get a 60 min massage. We just moved and use to go to another spot so we were looking for a new go to spot. First I thought it was the weirdest thing when they asked to pay first I already felt sketched out. Went back to the rooms, my experience was absolutely HORRIBLE they didn't even massage basically just dug her elbow in me and with no oil or lotion. Felt super uncomfortable & to add to the experience her loud duck quacking ringer was going off and she decided it was ok to have a full convo while the massage. Then when my fiancé came out he had the same experience and his lady kept putting his hands on her legs and he had to keep moving them away and tell her no. Made him feel very uncomfortable and upset. At this point he didn't even want to tip because he said it was a horrible experience. But we went to the front to pay and they had the audacity to yell at us when we were tipping 20% even with a bad experience and they asked for 40%!!!!! Came here for their hour foot massage for $20. They give you a cup of tea while you soak your feet in the warm water. Half the time was spent on my back and the other half on my feet/legs. Nothing too spectacular except for the fact that the lady who was servicing me kept telling me how tense I was and that I needed to upgrade to a full body massage to get the kinks out. Michelle, the original owner, has since left and handed over the business. The back rooms that were once devoted to foot soaks/massages have now all been converted to private massage/facial rooms. Since this handover, I recently had a European facial appointment with Lena. She was late for my appointment by 15 minutes, so the appointment carried over for 30 minutes longer than I planned. The facial quality was mediocre, it contained all the usual components, but each left me longing for more (since my standard for Swan Spa is the quality of Michelle's facial). - The pimple-popping and pore-cleansing portion was not particularly thorough, barely focusing only on my nose and around my hairline. - The hand massage comprised of pressing between my fingers and lotioning my arms and hands. - No complimentary eyebrow plucking/shaping. - Extra long final face mask step. - Answering the phone multiple times in the room while I was having my facial done. I may be back to try the full body massage, but considering the price of the facial, I'm now on the lookout for another facial place. read more

i've been a customer @ swan spa for probably over 3 years now. i was first introduced to the original owner Michelle by my sister inlaw. Michelle used to have her biz at home and her biz has gotten better and moved to a local shop, now the Swan Spa. i must say.. since the biz took over (Michelle no longer is the owner), the service has dropped. i believe the new owner is at her 20s which really caught me by surprise. the new owner is barely at the shop, even when she does, she is always on her laptop and or chat with her bf @ the shop front counter. that's a big biz no no!! but again, she's only at 20s.. no offense. i still get my facial done there by either Lena or Amy, but i miss Michelle very much.... i wish she's there... anyhow, the only reason i stayed is b/c of their diamond peeling package. the treatment works very well for me and i have renewed the same package pretty much since i started with Michelle. i just came back from facial today and saw a new face at the front desk counter..perhaps they switch owner again? i haven't seen the young girl for at least few months now and the new lady @ the front desk today looks more like a biz owner! i hope i don't need to look for another spa anytime soon but it's hard to say.... i might need to start looking else where but only if the new joint offer the same if not similar peeling package.. read more

I feel compelled to write this review in hopes that the owner (or maybe the person there IS the owner!) makes some changes to the way they do business. First, the lady at the front immediately charges you the minute you walk in BEFORE your service which is odd. Second, she went on to charge me a 2 dollar fee for using my ATM card. I believe that is ILLEGAL in California. (I'm going to check on that). I have to say the massage was great, my therapist was very nice and did a great job (not very good at proper draping for a massage but many of these small places lack that) HOWEVER, at the end of the massage she was complimentary then proceeded to say that I was rich. WTH? Well then as I proceeded to get cash out for the tip, she said the tip was $30 and not $20. (Hence the rich comment to justify her next move?) MIND YOU MY MASSAGE WAS $90.00 so I tipped well above 20 percent. She proceeded to tell me that 20 percent was for restaurants. is this woman NUTSO?!!! Does she think I'm an IDIOT? I was so mad, I held strong and said NO. I said, "I pay 20 percent for great service and a tip is voluntary. This is not okay." She then took $10.00 out of the drawer gave it to the therapist and said she'd pay her for it. Okay sorry but your little bluff didn't work with me. I can totally see guests getting bullied by this woman. It's too bad. I work close to this area and looking for a place I can visit frequently. THIS IS NOT IT. Worst spa ever and I frequent several locations Walked in for a one hour body and the front staff said $50. A bit weird to pay before the service especially since I wanted to leave tip on the card. She then says I can leave tip now, how much. I told her make it $65 then and she kept pushing $70. Why do I tip 40% on a massage I haven't received yet. I said no $65 and then she said $100? She was very apologetic and told me the masseuse I had was new and she thanked me for giving her honest feedback so she knows what customer thinks and if some employees might be under performing. She also invited me back to get another free massage to make up for the bad one I had. She went above and beyond to make her customers happy. i am not sure about other services, BUT if you want to have your ACNE cleaned. HELL NO.... i go there only b/c it's 5 mins away from my home and i need an acne skin care so bad. (i have membership in another skin care located in SB but they don't have time that day). the lady who did my skin care has poor skills (if you ever went to another other skin care place and you will know the difference). AND!! F!! Went in for a massage on Sunday and left feeling satisfied. When I go to the spa, I spend a good amount for a massage and facial. Swan Spa is only $35 for a full body massage. Like the other reviews there isn't anything special like a sauna or a jacuzzi, just rooms with massage tables, soothing music, and a quiet atmosphere. For $35 she hit all the right spots! My shoulder and neck part was kind of painful but I kind of expect that. That's how I know they are good! ha So when I want a nice cheap massage that will loosen up all my knots, this is the place to go. I might have to come back and do this more often!!! I used to love this place. For $35.00 an hour, it was totally worth it! I'd recalled one time I went there for a 3 hour massage, and the lady that massaged me was awesome! She worked out every knot and tension I had on my body, and I was feeling completely relaxed and happy...that was until I had encountered the bitchy receptionist, who was also a masseuse there...she ruined it for me when she kept pushing me to buy a massage membership, even though I had kindly declined - a couple of times while she was writing me the receipt... [UPDATE 5/08] This place is now done to 3 1/2 stars from my initial 5 stars. One of the best masseuse is gone. Also, they have gotten rid of the foot mask at the end of the service. They are still cleaner than most, but not sure if it's worth the $18 now... This place is awesome and a great deal too. The facial is very good and not overly pricey. The only downside is that it's both a foot massage parlor and facial place, so you don't get that relaxing day spa feel that you would get at Ann Karen. However, it's also about half the price of that, so it's well worth it. I also love their foot massage. It feels much cleaner than other places in the San Gabriel Valley, and they also give you a "foot mask" after the service. I highly recommend this place for foot massages, but they also charge $18 instead of $9.99 or $15 that you would get on Valley. But, well worth it! read more

I'm so mad and stressed out by my experiences at this stupid place. First time I go there I call ahead and when I get there at the agreed time they turn me away because they took someone else instead. Who does that?? Then many months later after a terrible day and a lot of back pain I try again because it is a block from my house. THEY MADE ME WAIT 30 MINUTES, IN A ROOM, UNDRESSED WITH NO COMMUNICATION. When I finally speak up to the lady there she apologizes and says the lady who was supposed to work on me is late but is just parking. I should've already left but I was desperate for some pain relief. Finally this woman comes in and straight up refuses to do an hour long massage. She says it's too late but it's 830 and they have 1 hour until close. At this point I'm close to tears with frustration. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. Oh did I mention it was sweltering hot in there and there was a very lively argument I got the great pleasure of listening to for 30 minutes, punctuated by periodic shrill yelling. read more

im only giving this place a 4 star review because twice i went, those ladies who massaged me did a great job (well the 1st one tried to convince me she had to "massage" it off my hard shoulder and i walked out w the pain that lasted for a wk -_-...but she was trying to be helpful so i dont blame her). They are very cooperative about last minute massages, which helps me since my schedule is hard to pin down. Their hours are great - a lot of places close too early in the evening. The beds are comfortable (not all massage places are good for my neck). The Swedish massage I had was extremely relaxing and I think the price was fair, especially when it's easy to spend $100 at a local spa. It's not fancy, so if you want plush bathrobes and a lot of pampering, this isn't the place. But for a simple massage to get you up and going again, it's perfect.
