I had actually heard about this place several times from my neighbor, and she said they've been open for over 20 years -- definitely not one of those overly commercial ad-type places. The spa itself is actually very peaceful inside, with warm lighting and not overly flashy or trendy. Instead, it gives off that comforting feeling of "an experienced auntie genuinely taking care of your skin." Originally, I thought facial gua sha was just a regular massage, but once the treatment started, it was honestly very different from what I expected. The esthetician first did a deep cleansing and double detox treatment, then slowly worked along the contours of my face. Some areas felt a little sore and tight, and she even said my facial circulation seemed a bit blocked lol. The benefits of facial gua sha include: * balancing qi and blood circulation * helping skin detox and metabolism * lifting facial contours and improving sagging skin * releasing muscle tension and opening absorption channels for skincare * brightening the complexion and softening dark spots and fine lines * reducing puffiness and dark circles It wasn't painful at all -- I actually ended up falling asleep What I personally noticed most was: my face looked less puffy, my complexion looked cleaner, and my skincare products seemed to absorb better afterward. I booked us the Deluxe Pampering Scalp and Facial treatment for 75 minutes, but after a thorough exam of both our heads under their digital scalp microscope, our specialists recommended the 90 minute Premium Special Treatment and Facial. I've known my scalp had its issues before coming here, like crazy dandruff, and a mix of oily and dry scalp issues from all my time in the sun and not knowing how to take care of my hair and scalp. I was surprised to see a lot of redness on parts of my scalp, too, so I was happy to pay a little extra to do the Premium Treatment. My bestie had dry scalp as her issue, and our specialists, Nina and Sue, recommended and went over different products for us, catered to our unique scalp issues.
