One of my favorite bars in Portland! Gnarlys used to reside in the kitchen, but now it's theobertos with vegan Mexican food. I shared the vegan carne asada fries which were delicious and flavorful. We ordered the half version so I can't imagine the size of the full version. The cocktails are delicious here. We got the gin and tonic. I usually get the margaritas, and the prices are Portland average bar prices. Ambiance is 10/10. On Friday, it was 80's night but I love how the bar projects the music video onto the walls with its disco ball floating on the ceiling. read more

This area had the old Portland vibe I adore. Parking near is very probable and you can get dropped off from your ride share without fearing for your life. Some sections of Grand are scary as drivers get dumb. Gorgeous space with 2 large rooms and an exterior with fire pit so it holds a lot of people. We dropped in to grab food during a friend's dark wave night. They tend to have many different events happening throughout each week and many are no cover. We loved the music and loved even more that we were able to get a table not on the dance floor area. I don't really drink and eat, especially hanging out with sober friends. So I don't have drinks notes but will say that there is a diverse crew drinking and dancing with a few messy folks... knocking stuff over, bouncing in their seats like they are deranged but nothing completely unhinged. Most of the crowd was very chill. The bartenders are phenomenal, mega pro and that perfect balance of firm yet sweet. On the way in we asked the dear managing the door situation if they were going to be still serving food, just to make sure. He highly recommended the crunch wrap and the loaded nachos. I am not vegan and I really am not a fan of fake meat - I love a well made veggie or mushroom burger and love vegan food... I decided to go with the crunch wrap (I do love the Taco Bell version) plus chips and salsa plus a side of guacamole. My friend is a vegan, so she's always in heaven when we go to a place that is plant based (their menu is 100% plant based). She ordered the crunchwrap and the loaded fries. I actually did love the crunch wrap, but I can't soy curls. I loathe the taste of soy and I am not a tofu person but, I definitely feel like next time I would like to just switch the soy curls out with beans. My friend loved it and their fries. My favorite dive bar in SE PDX. I had put off spending time at Swan Dive for some time, mostly because i used to live a few blocks away and strangely had just never been here. Thankfully, friends who come here often brought our group here after karaoke a few weeks ago. The vibes are simple, the space is welcoming, and the drinks are affordable. The main dance area on the right of the space is huge, and, with the right evening, is popping with retro vibes and great people. We got lucky and had some fun times mingling with other groups, and I was thrilled that we stayed here for a good amount of time. I kept things simple with white claws, and we were able to seamlessly use the outdoor space for smoking with no issues from security. I will definitely be back for some fun dance evenings, especially considering how packed some nearby bars can be with 21 year-olds. read more

They were super supportive and went above and beyond in making sure the harassing person was dealt with and that I had a good experience afterwards. Saw a show here a while back, and it was amazing! Sick place all around. The first floor is a little empty, but I assume that's because everyone was upstairs for the event. Had two drinks from the same bartender and they were mixed very differently -one much sweeter than the other. Drinks are also a bit pricey, but you're paying for the vibes. Absolutely love the fire pit out back. Also paid like $5 for the photo booth just to find it didn't even print a physical photo strip, but that's not too worth noting. read more

I haven't been to Swan Dive since it was Bit house Saloon. It was near and dear to our heart because my husband and I met there! But my friend from out of town was having a birthday and wanted a Portland experience. And an experience we got! We attended the drag brunch which was $25 a ticket. It does not include drinks or food but you have the option to purchase a buffet ticket when you arrive. I opted out as it was $20 per person and stuck to the drinks. The drinks were amazing and they have classic cheaper options like mimosas. They also have "special" times throughout the show where drinks are a few bucks off so take advantage. The breakfast consists of your standard eggs, sausage, vegan protein, I think pancakes, hash-browns and grits etc. You can change out larger bills to tip the drag queens and anywhere in the bar area is a great view. The energy had me feeling like it was Friday night at a club! I have been to one other drag brunch and I would definitely recommend this one the most! Parking in this area is what it is. Go early so you have time for a spot or take public transportation (which will stop right out front), that way you can have a few extra mimosas safely! Cheers! read more

Definitely a vibe here! Came for Saturday night drinks and gluten free corn dogs and neither disappointed. Cocktails were awesome and summery and the corn dogs were super fun! I got the vegan one and it actually had a literal hunk of tofu which I loved and actually prefer to like an imitation dog. Only docking a star for the rats running around the patio area and the noise from the folks on the street - can't be helped but just know what to expect. read more

This place has, by far, the best drag show I've seen in Portland! It's a drag brunch so there is a buffet of breakfast options but it wasn't as good as I expected. I would have liked a little more variety and the quality of the food can certainly be better. The drinks are very good though so I would suggest getting something. The drinks are served directly at the table and servers are regularly checking up on people for refills so that's really nice. But the best part was the drag show. I have no words to describe how good they all were and I particularly like the runway of sorts that is created in between all the tables so everyone gets to see the show and the queens have enough place to strut their stuff. I never expected to be blown away by a drag show in the morning but it happened. I can only imagine how amazing it must be at night. Tickets have to be bought in advance and it's very inexpensive. Also tipping the queens during the show is highly recommended so be prepared with cash. At the end of the show, you get to take pictures with the drag queens and chat them up or even buy them drinks. Street parking is plenty and the place is easy to find. I will ABSOLUTELY be going back to this place to watch the shows again!!!! It's so worth it! read more

We came to the Swan Dive on a Sunday morning for the Diva Drag Brunch. We got very lucky and found free street parking a block away. The line to get in was short and moved quickly. The performers work hard to get everyone in and seated then they put on the most amazing show and then hang out at the end to take pictures with people. I had read reviews about a buffet, but thank goddess there was nothing of the sort the day we were there. We ordered off a QR code. I imagine having an entire roomful of people seated & ordering off QR codes at the same time isn't ideal for a kitchen or the servers. The servers were hustling. There weren't that many of them but they were running around the whole time taking and filling orders and helping the performers collect the bills off the floor. I'm super clumsy and accident prone so I kept worrying about the performers slipping if they stepped on a bill. Our food came out quite quickly. I ordered the loaded tots and had half the basket and it was so filling I didn't eat the rest of the day. Our drinks took a bit longer, but they were worth the wait. The was by Gnarly's. I've been to my fair share of drag shows & bingos in Los Angeles and San Diego, but this was one of my favorites because they sang, they danced, they slaaayed! Their makeup and outfits were on point too! I heard about this show because I follow Jayla Rose but after attending I'm so glad to have also seen Nicole Onoscopi, Lylac, Riley & Devlin perform. Came here for Diva Drag brunch for Mother's Day for something new for my friend who loves drag in stl. Food on the buffet was amazing as well as the decor and vibe of the spot. But bathrooms were nasty for my pregnant friend she said. Humid for cuz a big crowd. With the 46$ enter fee for show was for buffet but nope the buffet was 30$ a person not including drinks or soda. Super fun drag show! We were here for a bachelorette party, and were a party of 10. I will be giving a 4 star because our waiter forgot our drinks. We ordered our drinks when we first arrived, after 30 mins I asked our waiter where our drinks were. At that time the show was beginning, and everyone around us had their drinks.
