Customer services are great, my eye glasses comfortable and clear to see, prices ok I paid $200 from my pocket plus my insurance paid other $200 for bifocal eye glasses which is acceptable the only things I couldn't find any reason or excuse is the heavy dust at the top of their machines and furniture is unhealthy especially facility for health and eyes need to be clean, their dust triggers my asthma too. read more

RUN AWAY! Worst customer "service" ever. Went to this clinic for several years after moving here, because I had good experience with SVS previously. Never felt satisfied with vision prescription here but thought it was best I could get. Got multiple text reminders that it was time to make an appointment. Made 2 appointments, both times SVS called day before the appointment to say my insurance wouldn't cover yet. Showed up for third appointment, was told appointment was cancelled. No reason given, no offer to reschedule. RUDE receptionist. Called later to speak with manager. Told he was "out" but would call me back. NO return call. Called Ypsilanti Vision, got appt same day, friendly staff, best eye exam I've had in 12 yrs. I recommend Ypsilanti Vision for great eye care. read more

Did not get what I paid for, twice. After the second two replacement pairs of glasses I was told by an employee that my warranty would start over. so I called to make an appointment to replace the pair that I didn't order or pick out but paid them money for, they won't replace them. Please, if you can, travel elsewhere to get some decent service and to receive the glasses that you actually pick out. The lady told me the customer doesn't always get what they pick out because the options on the wall aren't always in stock. So I guess they pick something similar? Went in for a diabetic eye examination was told I was fine by Doctor Scott A Brown OD. 5 months later I started having trouble with my left eye getting blurry, fuzzy vision that quickly left my eye unable to see anything but big bloobs of blurred vision. I booked and appointment with a reputable eye clinic since there was no way I was going back to SVS who told me I was fine 6 months ago. My new Doctor who examined me diagnosed a stage 4 cataract in my left eye. So I ask him shouldn't Doctor Brown have caught this when I had my examination 6 months ago, both the Doctor and the assistant shrugged there shoulders and said well yes he should have caught this cataract back then. So my advice to anyone looking for a quality eye Doctor should go elsewhere! Very unhappy in Michigan! read more

First the service wasn't so bad until I decided to exchange my glasses that's when all hell broke loose , they refused to give me an exchange ,then refused to give me a refund all because the glasses made me look a wizard! so I paid half cash half card well they refunded my card but the remainder they are going to mail me a check, yes a freaking check when I paid cash. Then as I am waiting for the check 2 weeks afterwards I decided to call and its an error in the system unfortunately that had them thinking I got my check, smh! HORRIBLE service .. I used to live in Ypsi, but moved about 30 miles away two years ago, I still continue to travel to this location because of the time and attention that the doctor gives you while fine-tuning your prescription, as well as the helpful service staff that can help you pick out frames. read more

I bought a pair of glasses here several years ago. I dropped them and the screw that holds the arm on popped out. My bad. I took them back to SVS, hoping that they could patch them up until I could schedule an appointment for new glasses. The person I spoke to asked if I had bought them there, glanced at them, and told me that since that line is no longer in production they could not be fixed. I asked if she could patch them temporarily. She replied, and this is a quote, "Do you have any duct tape at home?" So I went home and duct-taped them together as she suggested. Not the look I was going for, but I needed them in order to drive across town to their competition, where I ordered new glasses. The helpful woman who fitted me for new glasses noticed my duct tape job and offered assistance. It took her about two minutes to heat up a clear plastic sleeve to hold my glasses together until the new ones could be delivered. read more

I thought I'd give this place a try after getting extremely lousy customer service from "America's Best." The prices here aren't great, but the customer service was adequate. They were helpful but not pushy. I was in an out fast when I picked the glasses up. There's nothing wrong with this store, but I wish they included more bargain glasses and didn't jack up the prices and then try to give you a "deal" by giving you coupons. I think next time I'll just get my prescription from my regular eye doctor and order frames online since I paid for one pair of glasses here what I paid for 2 pair from America's Best. read more

I visited this store simply because it accepts my insurance. I was quickly able to make an eye appointment over the phone with a chipper young lady. When I arrived a few days later I completed paperwork and was quickly taken back for my eye exam. My appointment was at 12:30, I had my exam and frames chosen by 1:15. My frames took just a few days to come in. I was told 7-10 business days. They were back in 3. I did notice that the office was a little dated as far as furniture and the makeshift eye examination room. The equipment however was state of the art with screens and techy machines. Overall, I was pleased with the service. I'm a little bummed that I had a chance to save out of pocket costs using a groupon but I'll use it next time. read more

Ugh. I really wish I could take my insurance elsewhere. I spent my whole appointment with an incredibly rude optometrist, who constantly double guessed everything I said. I started feeling like Dustin Hoffman in Marathon Man. By the end of the appointment I apparently need to see my primary for high blood pressure, a neurologist for my headache, and to go back in for an eye dilation. No wonder every time I go in they're empty. Also their new location feels much smaller than the old one. read more

The staff are very friendly and great at helping you look for new frames. Previously I had been going to America's Best because it was cheap, but the service was cheap too. At SVS the optometrist actually spent time finding the perfect prescription instead of rushing me out the door after two minutes. She was very patient while I tried to remember how to put in the trial contacts she gave me. After I finally figured that out she had me get back in the chair to verify that the prescription was actually right and when it wasn't she gave me a new pair of trial contacts to try. She looked closely at my eye to make sure the contacts fit my eye properly. I have never experienced such attentiveness and kindness at any other eye care place. Thankfully I have vision insurance, but if you don't SVS would probably be a bit expensive. That is literally the only reason I'm not giving SVS 5 stars. They are great. read more

On 1/18, I had an eye exam at SVS. I was charged full price and my insurance was charged also. My co pay through my insurance is $10. My insurance was not entered correctly instead; I was charged $50 and given $10 off. I called my insurance and they called SVS corporate and spoke with Laura K. who is the manager of their billing department, to correct and reimburse me. I have spoken to Laura K and so has MetLife on 1/22, 2/3, 2/7, 2/14 and 3/2. Laura K. continues to lie about reimbursing me. It has been over a month and I have not received a check correcting their mistake. My insurance company called again and spoke with a Judy who apologizes stating "someone dropped the ball and check will be sent". That was on 2/7. Still no check sent 10 days later. This company lies to its customers and insurance companies. I am reporting SVS for insurance fraud. I will make a report to Better Business Bureau and the attorney general.  I have proof from my insurance company of this issue and have disputed charge with my credit card company. read more

I have never had a bad experience here! I pop in frequently to get my glasses tightened or cleaned, and they always greet me with a smile and do it for free! It's quick and easy to make an appointment, they have deals on Groupon, they have a great selection to choose from (in all price ranges), and their location is clean and convenient. This is a very strange place. The staff treats the customers with an attitude bordering on hostility. The front desk does not acknowledge your presence -- even if you're the only person in the building, and even if they're talking amongst themselves about non-business related topics. A polite "Excuse me" after at least 3 minutes of waiting two feet away without being acknowledged was met with "It's going to be another moment" and a dirty look. When they deign to talk to you, it's very abrupt. You get the feeling they'd rather be anywhere else. It's absolutely bizarre. The eye doctor I saw, for whatever reason, hates contact lenses. He told me "you'd be surprised how many people are too lazy to put on a pair of glasses". He said if I "insisted" on contacts, I should consider wearing goggles as a protective measure. I asked them for a Monday follow-up appointment since their hours are extended until 7:30, and they told me they'd prefer it if I made an appointment no later than 5pm because they like to go home early. I declined the $89 anti-glare coating and they told me I'd have to sign a medical waiver acknowledging I had gone against their advice. This wound up not happening, I assume because it's not actually legal to force someone to state that they've waived an optional fee against the advice of the person fitting their glasses. I asked for an itemized receipt. The clerk asked me why I needed one. I don't think it's their business, but told them I could submit it for reimbursement. She says they've already submitted everything to the insurance company. The whole time I'm wondering why I'm having an argument over an itemized receipt, but I tell her my company has a FLEX plan that should make up the difference. Finally, she hits print and I get my receipt. I asked if she could please staple it to the original receipt (I'd have done it myself but the stapler was behind the desk), and she actually grabbed the stapler and slammed it down on my paperwork. I'm a very meek, polite person. Not an obnoxious customer at all. I've worked in customer service, and consider myself very sympathetic. I'm not exaggerating how weird this place was. It was really, really, really strange. So much so that I'm going to see if I can have my follow up somewhere else, whether or not they can accept my insurance. I visited this place for the first time, and so far, its been an unpleasant experience. I made an appointment, arrived on time for that appointment, and when I reached the front desk the receptionist was rude, denying I had an appointment repeatedly. I said" hi, I have an appointment," gave her my name, and the first thing she said was, "do you!?" She basically turned me away and refused the idea of my having an appointment, claiming she did not see me on the schedule. So I left, went to my car, and called the same number I made the appointment with. It was the same Ypsilanti office I just left. A man answered the line. I asked him if he seen me on the schedule, and what was their address their? The man who answered said he did not know the address and that he did not see me on the schedule at all. I said "fine, ok can I make an appointment?" He replied "yes," and that he believed he just seen me walk out asking about an appointment. So I knew then that I was surely at the right location. I just don't understand how they didn't save my appointment on the schedule, or what happened in general, because I definitely set an appointment up with them at least a week prior to my arrival. He was able to get me in that same day. When I was in the waiting room that same receptionist I found a bit rude, answered the phone, conversed with a customer, and as soon as she hung the phone up, she spoke negatively about the customer; joking around saying "something is wrong with her," with another employee. It made me think that they just gossip and talk about all their customers obnoxiously. The Dr. was really professional and took his time to help me and answered my questions. Other than that, the customer service at this Ypsilanti location is terrible and unprofessional. The bad weighed out the good in my opinion. BUYER BEWARE! I had a terrible customer service experience with SVS Vision. After months of blatant lies and delays from their customer service department, I would not recommend anyone do business with this company. My story is detailed below. Around nine months ago I brought my $200 pair of sunglasses into the Plymouth SVS Vision branch to turn the original lenses into prescription lenses. I already have glasses, so I brought in my current prescription. I spoke with a sales representative, and I let her know that I was apprehensive about ordering the prescription lenses because it was expensive and I didn't want to risk ruining my sunglasses. The customer service representative assured me that they take great care of their customers and that if I was unsatisfied with my purchase I could return the lenses for a full refund and they would put the original lenses back in. With this guarantee, I went forward with the purchase. When the sunglasses arrived, I was not satisfied with my purchase so I asked for a refund. However, the Plymouth store refused to honor their guarantee to replace my original lenses. First, the Plymouth store refused to let me return the glasses, claiming that because I ordered them with my current prescription, it was my fault that I was not satisfied with the glasses. I kept pushing for a refund, but the Plymouth store now shifted their store and now refused to replace the original lenses. They said that the SVS Corporate "lab" was supposed to ship my original lenses with the sunglasses. However, when the sunglasses arrived, the original lenses were not in the box (aka SVS Vision lost them), so SVS Vision refused to replace them. I was unsatisfied so I called SVS Corporate customer service who assured me that they would take care of the situation. First, they said they would replace the lenses with a set of lenses from a floor model. They told me that they would call me back with further directions in one or two days. After a few weeks of waiting, I called them back. Customer service once again told me that they would take care of the situation, now telling me to ship my sunglasses back to the SVS Plymouth branch. After months of waiting, nothing happened so I called SVS Customer Service. It was clear that they forgot about replacing my lenses and now were, once again, refusing to replace the lenses. To make things worse, the Plymouth store manager was now blatantly lying to me and claiming that she personally placed the original lenses in the box before they were shipped to me. This made me feel sick. I thought SVS was an honest company, and here they are continually leading me on and lying to me, very sad. I was so upset about this situation so I requested to speak with a customer service manager. After weeks of waiting, I was finally contacted by a customer service representative. I explained the situation and she was apologetic and told me that she would ensure that my lenses were replaced with the original lenses. I was very relieved because, after months of battling, I thought it was finally over. The representative confirmed the original specs of my lens and assured me that she would replace them with the original lenses and ship them to me. After a few weeks, the box arrived at my door and I was excited to finally have my sunglasses back. However, when I opened the box, it contained some cheap fake version of my original lenses. I was promised the original Green Polarized lenses that SVS originally lost, and in the box was some cheap green lens that didn't even have the Ray-Ban logo. It was completely insulting. I haven't called back customer service because it is clear that they just don't care about the situation. This entire experience was completely appalling. If anyone is considering giving any of their hard-earned money to SVS Vision, I would strongly advise them to consider my story and take their business elsewhere. read more

Have had several eye visits over the last year. First eval for glasses went fine. Second eval for contacts was a horrible ordeal with incompetent service. Contacts were not fitting right, so they ordered a new set and set a follow-up to check on them. Contacts hadn't arrived by the appt, and they didn't inform me so I went through a wasted follow-up appt. Then the contacts "never arrived," and Iwas a and I was never contacted. Contacts got re-ordered and again I was never contacted. When I called, they told me "Oh, you were just on our calling list." Never an apology from SVS in the whole ordeal that lasted about 2 months. Bottom line: A customer shouldn't have to do all the work that the staff should be doing! read more

I had a similar experience to Carol, the receptionist was very rude and difficult to work with. I got through it, I had my eye exam with the young doctor. Got a pair of contacts and ordered my glasses - loved the cat's eye frame I chose. When I got home I called them immediately, I was having trouble with my new prescription. I finally was able to see them a couple weeks later. In the mean time, my glasses were finished, I picked them up. I could not see out of the left lens, everything was distorted. After being questioned and the lens being inspected by a few people, they agreed to fix the problem. Finally picking up my glasses, I was having the same trouble as with my contacts, I was getting motion sick from being over corrected. I wanted to keep the glasses but in addition, the left lens still was responding weird. I had distortion in the peripheral vision through the lens. Sadly I had to return the glasses. They are too expensive to have problems such as distorted vision or motion sickness from over correction. read more

At 12:45 they take in to the Dr. Two kids around 10 and 12. So here it is one Dr. and two patients just went in 15 minutes to my appointment. What are the odds I will be in my appointment at 1:00 NOT GOOD!!!! So I go up to the desk and mention the fact that I am concerned at how late my appointment is going to run. I would've given this place 0 stars, but because the doctor I saw and sales rep I worked with in the store were professional, I couldn't fault them. The rest of the employees were borderline inappropriate. Barely acknowledge you. Rude, loud, one even swearing. I was shocked. Not a kid friendly place. Just call them and hear for yourself. They'll answer the phone nice enough, but if you start asking run of the mill questions, they'll quickly become annoyed and act like you're inconveniencing them. The two times I called, the woman was sarcastic, short, and huffy puffy. Literally, loud annoyed sighs coming through the phone. I was so appalled, I wrote a complaint letter (my first EVER) to the SVS customer service. Hopefully it will help address the problems at this location. I have been going here for about 9 years and every year they never let me down... I get a snotty attitude. I went to my eye appointment yesterday, every year I dread dealing with the office staff. When I got there the woman at the front desk asked my name and said "Did you get my calls?" I replied to her with "Yes, the appointment reminder?" She said "NO! The calls requesting your vision insurance!" I had told her that I only received the call about my appointment. She was so snappy and rude. She went on to tell me what time and day she called. I had to tell her "Look, I wouldn't have NOT called back to give you my insurance information!" She changed her tone alittle after that. I LOVE the eye Dr. He is a very sweet man. And Mary from the office staff helped me figure out which glasses to get and what way it would be a more cost effective way to get my glasses and contacts. LAST year I went in there to pick up my contacts at lunch time and was told to take a seat. After sitting there for 45minutes I told them that I had to leave because my lunch time was up. The woman at the front desk said "Okay, have a nice day." What on earth? I JUST NEEDED TO PICK UP MY CONTACTS. If I was their office manager, I would clean house STAT. read more

When trying to pick out a pair of glasses, I found the staff helping me to be rude, pushy, and obnoxious when "advising me." More than twice I have waited over 20 minutes for an appointment to start. I often over hear the staff's personal arguments with each other when I'm in - it's like they employee a bunch of children - it really turns me off. I have been going here for about a year but finally switched this month. That was a hassle, too. The new place I started going to had to call SVS to have them fax over my prescription - THREE TIMES before they actually faxed it over. So I came without knowing about the groupon deal and still got a good price. I got my eye exam done with the optometrist, she was very professional. After getting my eye exam, I purchased the glasses I wanted which were designer. I've purchased many eye glasses before and this place gave me a great deal and great customer service. They had a great promotion going on with discounted eye exam and either lens or glasses free depending on which one was more. I am so happy with my experience. Moved to this side of the state, and had to re-up on contacts for the next year. Everything went fine as far as fitting and finding my prescription. I used the trial lenses for a few weeks, and everything went fine. I subsequently ordered a year supply of those lenses. I was told 7-10 business days before they would be in. I was hoping to get them a bit sooner, as I was travelling out to Colorado, but they couldn't accommodate. No problem, I understood that wasn't likely to happen. Eventually my contacts do come in, and I go to throw them in on a Monday morning. Boom, can't see anything. I call in to ask what the deal was, as they should have been the exact same prescription I had in my trial lenses. Turns out, they ordered the completely wrong contacts. They said they would put in an order, and it would be another 7-10 business days. I could manage, as I still had some old glasses, but this was already beginning to be a bit frustrating. 10 business days later I call in and am told they are still not in, but they would get an update as to where my contacts were. Turns out, they actually now won't be in for ANOTHER 2 WEEKS. You can be 100% certain that when/if these contacts ever come in I will be telling them I plan to take my business elsewhere. Whether is is incompetence, lack of attention to detail, not caring, or a combination of the three...this location is absolutely abysmal. I strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere, unless you are looking to pay good money for terrible service. read more

My husband and I both needed new reading glasses and there was a groupon so I thought we would give it a try. After buying the groupon I was a little nervous because of the Yelp reviews. We both had a really good experience. The exam was thorough and done by an optometrist. We were then helped by Mary, she is very experienced and a great help picking out the right frames. We paid $50.00 for each groupon which included the eye exam and $200.00 towards frames each. We picked out mid price plastic frames, plastic lenses with anti-glare and had to pay an additional $125.00 each. When we picked up the glasses I was very pleased, the prescription was correct and the frames were good quality. We have only bought glasses twice before at the America's Best at Arborland. Let me tell you SVS vision was light years better. The last time I picked up glasses at America's Best (2 years ago) I took them back because they seemed way to strong. The owner told me to wear them and get use to them. I have never been able to wear them and took them with me to this appointment. Come to find out they were a prescription higher then she was planning to give me. I hope this helps! read more

Went here a couple of years ago for my first pair of glasses. Waited about an hour for my appointment (I was on time, office was running behind). When I finally got back, the doctor was LITERALLY RUNNING around the exam room because he was in such a rush. I would have rather rescheduled my appointment than get a terrible rushed exam. When I finally got the glasses, the prescription didn't help me very much. I took the glasses back for another appointment, and they said there wasn't really anything they could do about it. Wasted so much money going here. I scheduled my next eye appointment the next year with Bennett on Plymouth Rd. So much better service and quality there! Do not go here! I went here for myself and my two children because they accept my insurance. I bought 4 pairs of glasses from. I was later contacted by the health department because one of my children had failed their eye test at school and told that I needed to have her eyes checked again. I took her to see a specialist and found out that her script was severely wrong. I went back to SVS Vision and showed them the correct script. They offered to replace her glasses. I made the retest myself and my other child only to find out that my script was also severely wrong and my other child's was slightly too strong. I asked that they replace the lenses is my other child's glasses as well, but was told that they would need to speak with their manager to see if they could. I am still waiting to hear back from them. As I said before, do not go here! They will make your eyes worse! read more
