I stopped in after an appointment and it was only about 8am. They were almost out of everything! Just goes to show how popular they are. This is the other Suzy Jo Donuts shop, the first being down in Bridgeport, just south of Norristown, PA. Like the original, it is a small shop in a secondary commercial strip. Unless you get there early in the day, the choice will be limited. My arrival around 11 left me with few options to my liking. Still I managed to select a six pack box mix of cake iced and jelly/vanilla cream filled doughies that were pretty good. The vanilla frosting was notable for rich sweet taste, while the cake base was firm enough to hold up through my dental onslaught. The Boston Cream injected stick was excellent, while the raspberry jelly round mound with vanilla frost was uber sweet from the double glucose. My son really loved that one. Prices have been bitten by inflation, so this box of six relieved me of nearly a twenty note with tip. The weird piece was in the placement of orange traffic cones in front of the display case to keep customers away from leaning over the glass for a closer look of the goods. Found that strange and off putting, but maybe this shop has some aggressive customers. Definitely a step up from the Dunkins of the world, with a strong home baked sentiment. If there is such a thing as a cozy donut, these are it. read more

10/16/22 I know Suzy Jo has great donuts because a person near the store had always brought these into the office on Fridays. Remember those days? In the office? Anyway. . . I travelled to the East Norriton area to pick up donuts. I have never been to Suzy Jo's in person. This location is in a dumpy rundown strip mall in close proximity to Einstein. I had hoped to get coconut cream sticks for my husband but they aren't made at this location. There were plenty of other choices and I couldn't resist the Maple Bacon. I ordered that, white iced with Jimmie's (or sprinkles) depending on where you're from, and the plain cream sticks. While the donuts are good, the price was astronomical at nearly 20$ for a dozen. The price on the sheet said 15.50 a dozen and this is one of those businesses punishing you for using a credit card pounding you with 3% up charge. Maybe the cream sticks are more? I should have questioned it. LGB!! Honestly I get comparable donuts where I live at our Farmers Market. Never again will I complain about the prices at the farmers market for donuts. I no longer live in the area, it's doubtful I would return. read more

I always drive by and they are always closed, so when I drove by one morning and they were open, I had to stop and try their donuts! I tried 4 different flavors, and the sweetness is just enough sweetness for my tastebud. The flavor in the peanut covered donut was really good. That one is my favorite out of the 4 I tried. I also tried the boston creme and that's pretty good too. I wish they have more options and other flavors but I'm definitely going to come back and try other flavors and fillings that they have! read more

We love to come here for their doughnuts, especially seasonal doughnuts. The only bad thing is they sell out of the favorites early. Today we came here specifically for the caramel apple and pumpkin doughnuts. I thought we came relatively early, got there a little after 9:00 on a Sunday morning. But they were already sold out of the caramel apple doughnuts and only had 2 pumpkin left, plain pumpkin but no cream cheese pumpkin. I got one plain pumpkin and a Bavarian cream with chocolate frosting. The pumpkin was ok but too plain, it would have been better with glaze or something on it. The Bavarian one tasted a little more dry than normal, but still good. My husband also got a cream cheese filled doughnut that was really good, I'll have to get my own next time. I wish they would make more of their seasonal flavors if they know they're gonna sell out early and they're popular. I don't even know what time they open, but I didn't really want to get up at 6 am on a weekend to get these doughnuts in time, I have to get up early enough during the week. Maybe I'll send my husband to get me some since he gets up earlier, but I'm worried he'll mess something up. read more

Suzy Jo Donuts are amazing, but the older lady serving us the donuts this morning (5/21/21) was kind of rude. The bakery case of donuts were not labeled at all, so when I pointed out what I wanted and made an assumption about what the donut was i.e., I pointed to a donut that looks like a peanut butter donut and would say "one peanut butter donut please," she would correct me and then point to the donuts that were actually the peanut butter donuts behind her in the racks. She did this twice. I remember at work my supervisor would get a jelly donut that had a peanut butter frosting, so when I tried to ask about that, the lady pointed to the case "that's peanut butter" and then pointed behind her "that's jelly." I couldn't even explain this to her because she had to automatically correct me. I didn't understand why she was so annoyed when they didn't bother to label any of the donuts, so excuse me if I mistake a peanut butter donut for a chocolate donut or vice versa. My husband is a smart alec, so when he ordered he said "I would like that donut with the white icing on it, I don't know the name of it so I don't want to get it wrong." These donuts are ok. I drive by here a lot and decided to give them a shot. They have some cool flavors and definitely smell fresh, but I would say Beilers donuts and federal donuts in philly are (not surprisingly) way better. I tried bites of three donuts, sprinkles with frosting, blueberry cake and peach filled. I did thoroughly like the sprinkled donut. It was really good. The blueberry donut was comparable to Dunkin and the peach filled donut was kind of gross. They were pretty fried tasting, definitely not able to eat a full donut without feeling sick. Aaaaaamazing donuts. These donuts come to my office every third Friday of the month. We get about 10 boxes of a variety of donuts. So far the glaze, the powdered jelly, the vanilla frosted, and the cinnamon powder are amazing. I haven't tried any of the chocolate flavor or chocolate icing donuts, only because I don't like chocolate, but if I did, they would probably be delicious. Always so fresh, so fluffy, so sweet, there are really no flaws with these donuts. The powdered jelly is amazingly crafted. The jelly they use isn't too sweet like most jelly donuts. The powdered sugar gets messy, but you have to sacrifice a little for the amazingness. Almost forgot to mention the size of these donuts, they're pretty big and filling. If you're like me, you'll still want another one even after inhaling a HUGE donut from here. read more

While the selection was very limited when I visited, I still was able to purchase a few donuts to taste. The donuts purchased were the raised yeast type. The dough was dry, bland and baked (vs fried); those attributes do not make for a very good donut. One of the donuts was custard filled with icing and coconut flakes and the other was filled with a lemon donut filled with a lemon jelly and icing. The white icing on the coconut donut was grainy, low quality and super sweet. The lemon donut had minimal filling. Based on the reviews of the Bridgeport location, I had high-hopes for Suzy-Jo's and was really hoping for excellent donut; maybe they're not the same company. If you are looking for great donuts in the Norristown area find a Suzy Jo's. These are not your typical donuts from Dunkin. These are real donuts they way they are supposed to be made. The cherry cheese and peanut butter filled are my favorites donuts. Their white cream filled are the only white cream filled I can eat, they are not disgusting sweet. If they have Maple Bacon in stock when you go get one, they are awesome. The glazed donuts are great. Yeasty and soft with just the right amount of sweetness in the glaze. All of their donuts are this way. Balanced. You don't feel like you just ate a bag of sugar when you eat one. And their is no coating of grease on your tongue like you get when you eat a Dunkin donut. I also want to say, please do not get the apple fritters. They do not have a lot of them and if you get one I may not. Yes, I am selfish. These 8" diameter fritters are my favorite thing at Suzy Jo's. They are crispy, the glaze is sweet but the dough is not very sweet so they are very balanced. If you do get a fritter make sure you have someone to share it with because they are filling. I've had donuts from Yum Yum, Dunkin and every grocery store in the area. Suzy Jo's donuts are the best. Yum Yum come a close second, followed by Giant, after that eat something else because the rest are not worth eating. read more
