Suya FISH SUYA (GRILLED) JOLLOF RICE SHRIMP (5 JUMBO)

Amazing! Happened to be in the area and saw the restaurant and took a chance. I am sorry to disagree from the other recent reviews here. But, we all have our opinions. This food was just great! My husband and I have dined worldwide and I'm not exaggerating. I consider him a picky eater. The fish soya, egusi, turkey wings (my husband had), and jollof were extremely flavorful. Have to say we do like spice. The staff were polite and even boxed up our meals after we dined in. That is hard to find anywhere these days! And they were clean with good music. Give them a try.

The Egusi was good. The portions are extremely small. I am willing to go back and try other things on the menu. But the prices and the portions are off putting.

I actually used to come here often but I just went and I am very disappointed. The portion size is not worth $26. And it's not even full. Sorry I won't be coming back.

Hear me out... I've never had the desire to try Nigerian food. My friend -who is from here but lives in Georgia told me abt this place when she came to visit recently. It's fun to eat, the flavors in the Egusi are SOOOO complex, you have to be a bit of a foodie. It was delicious. Piping hot it came to my door. So flavorful. I clearly ordered ordered pizza just in case lol -- ve been reading a lot in the portions and it's perfect for myself. I'm not sure abt the pricing. I have nothing to compare it to in order to complain. When you are afoodie you tend to spend money on food like others spend on amazon. I didn't get it in the restaurant so I'm unsure of the ambiance. Service good I would say considering how hot and fresh my food was. Greatness.

First time here but loved the lamb schwarma and plantains. Delicious! Owner was there and super nice and personable to guests. Everything was clean, including the bathrooms. Very easy ordering process. We will be back to try more items off the menu. Please support this business to help keep them afloat!

This is the best dibi lamb I've had!…read more My first introduction to dibi lamb was at a Malian restaurant in West Philadelphia in the early 2000s. Since that time, I rotate between poisson and dibi whenever I get Senegalese food. West African restaurants are a dime a dozen in Philadelphia, but a lot of the food is just ok, with many of my favorite restaurants changing hands over the years and after COVID most of the food is meh at best. I recently had dibi at the gold standard for Senegalese food in Philadelphia and was disappointed. Fortunately, I have been able to order poisson and dibi from a Malian woman near me and I can make a passable version in a pinch. Two weeks ago, a friend posted on FB that this was the best meal she had ever had. As this was someone I know to have a breadth of experience with food, I was intrigued by the recommendation. So, while attending a conference in the area, I decided to give it a try. Unlike the Senegalese restaurant I recently visited in Chicago, this place was nice - the furnishings, decorations, and even the restroom was modern but authentic. The customer service was also refreshing. As soon as he set the plate down I knew it was going to be spectacular. There was a glorious aroma wafting from the lamb (which I'd ordered spicy), the plantains weren't glistening with oil, and the yassa condiment was a unexpected treat. The lamb was tender, seasoned to perfection and honestly I was so enamored with the food that I texted my friend to concur with her assessment. I was stuffed but didn't want the meal to end and I didn't want to leave. When I finished, I went to wash my hands and when I returned to the table I was disappointed that I had eaten it all. It was truly an outstanding meal with remarkable service. I wish them longevity and success because I intend to return with my family so they too can experience the deliciousness.

I loved the grilled chicken and lamb -- juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The tilapia was a bit underwhelming, mainly because the fish itself has a bit of a muddy aftertaste. Pair it with a sweet and tangy Bissap -- a vibrant sorrel and pineapple juice -- and the whole meal easily scores an 8.5/10. I also really liked the cozy wooden hut vibe of Nailah's Kitchen. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of tables and chairs, and the red, green, and yellow lights make the whole place feel just as colorful as the dishes they serve. Service was okay, but it's definitely a spot worth visiting for the food.

Upon reading the reviews here, I saw how they're mixed up so I wanted to try this place out to see…read morehow it is. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and found that the place is very spacious. Wooden booths and wooden tables with wooden chairs. Everything here is wooden. Not necessarily a bad thing. As I walked in, I was greeted by a woman. When I tried to ask her some questions, she didn't understand what I was trying to ask. So I just said "menu please" and she gave me a menu. The menu is small which I thought was great. I asked her if she had any recommendations. She pointed at the Jollof Rice dish and asked me what kind of meat do I like. I said the Goat and Tripe then told her either one is fine. She nodded her head and started to walk back to the kitchen but I stopped her and asked for another dish. She then pointed at the Okra dish. The Jollof rice dish comes with rice, plantains and a choice of meat and the Okra dish comes with Fufu (Solidified Mashed Potatoes used like bread.) and a choice of meat. Cool so I waited while watching the news on the tube. I checked in the restaurant first time and because of that, Yelp said I could get a 10% off of my first order there, yay! So I waited till she gave me my food and told her about the Yelp coupon. She smiled, shook her head and told me "no". I then asked her one more time because I'm sure Restaurants have to contact the company and advertise. I'm sure the company doesn't do the advertising for the restaurants... She again said "No, we don't do". I understand if the place is trying to get that money especially when it was empty when I came in but I found that to be a bit odd at the least. Then she gave me the receipt and come to find out, she charged me more than what the menu said. The menu said 13 bucks for each dish (The 2 dishes I got.) so including tax, it would have been around 27 bucks and some change. Instead the total was 33 bucks. Like I said above, I understand if they're trying to get money or survive but charging me hidden prices is terrible. If she had told me beforehand, I wouldn't have mind giving them extra money. It's not the amount of money that they took from me, it's the principle of their menu saying 1 price then charging me extra as if I wasn't going to find out. Anyways I paid it then left and when I got home I tasted the Jollof Rice dish. The rice had a distinct flavor to it which I liked and it came with Goat. The Goat was tasty and tender and the plantains were just plantains. I then had the Okra dish and the goat in that was very delicious. However, there were only 5 pieces in the dish. I then took some Fufu and laid it on my plate and got some Okra sauce and laid it on top of the Fufu. I took a bite and WOW it was terrible. You know how when you get too drunk and throw up, there's that after taste and burning sensation in your throat? It was EXACTLY like that. But oddly enough, the goat was good. The food was good aside from the Okra sauce and the service was horrendous. It wasn't about how long the food took, it was about the woman there lying to me about Yelp and charging me extra for the 2 dishes. According to the receipt, 5 pieces of goat equals 15 bucks. It doesn't say "Jollof Rice Dish" or anything of the sort. It's like she charged me A La Carte. I'm gonna stop by Nando's PERI PERI soon and hope they can better serve me without any hidden secrets.

After I lengthy discussion with the male worker (who's not in charge, and the person in charge has vanished) I was told that goat meat is extra money. Even though the menu doesn't state that, it says $12.95 for my choice of meat PERIOD. He says when the ring it in the system a la carte, it comes up that way. So I explained they have less than stellar Yelp reviews for this reason and should fix the problem. He says he's not I. Charge and can't do anything about it. I walked away leaving the food. He followed me outside to give it to me for the price it should have been but complained that I was blaming him for a system error. I still didn't want the food and kept walking. DAMN and I really wanted some African food today!! Such is never. Needless to say I will NEVER come here again!

First off I've been to numerous ethnic restaurants, that serve goat meat. Everyone from Indian, Jamaican, actually all West Indies, and other Nigerian, restaurants in Randallstown, including Senegalese on York Road. The portion size in this restaurant in comparison to what it cost? Is absolutely ridiculous. I ordered GOAT this past weekend, and I got two big bones with a tiny portion of meat attached to each one, and that was that. Their jollof rice, the vegetable and plantain was as it should be. So the following day, I went back, and I advised them that I got mostly Bone in my meal. Only to be snickered at by the elderly woman, and a gentleman who was picking up food stating , "goat has a lot of bones." All of which I understand clearly because I fix my own goat meat at home, as well as buy a lot of it at other restaurants. However, these other restaurants insure that you get meat, alongside those bones. Essentially what I purchased? Was a vegetarian meal with meat gravy and bones, without the meat. So the next day, I went back and tried to deal with them again (*I must note, that over 7 years ago, when I first tried this food, the jollof rice was much more spicy, however, the meat was much tougher.). So the following day, I got the jollof rice again, only this time I got it with the Beef. Which was the same day, the elderly lady snickered at me with the customer. She stated "Beef doesn't have so many bones. (Of which I know fully), so try that." I went with her recommendation. However, this time, there were two very tiny pieces of beef inside of this food, of which I paid $14 for! The beef that was inside of there was no more than 2" x 2" per piece. I truly believe, that this restaurant, though has been operating here in America for years, is still moving off of what they would get back in the motherland. That doesn't work here in America. For $14? I should've had NO LESS, than four pieces of those little tiny pieces of meat. Then, if we double back to the day before, with the Bones? This restaurant is definitely not worth the money that it charges for what I paid for! Because the GOAT, cost me $16 and some change when it was only worth approximately $10. If you go out Randallstown to the Nigerian restaurants over there off of liberty Road, just Google them, you will see that their portions are massive, and are absolutely worth the price that they charge for them. Or,, go to the Senegalese restaurant on York Road, and their food is absolutely worth every single penny that they charge. The service, atmosphere, ambience, and patronism is absolutely spectacular there. This restaurant? I don't know how they survive, they must have a loyal African following. That is used to such very tiny tiny portions of meat. They give you a lot of rice, and a lot of plantain, but virtually no meat for what they charging for. I hate to give them one star, but they truly, and absolutely deserve one star for that food. I will post pictures of the food, as today is Monday, October 24, 2023, and I still have yet to eat the food. Because I'm actually sick, over paying that money, and getting virtually nothing for it. I truly would like other African-Americans to patronize our African brothers and sisters restaurants, however, I'm not being spoiled, or entitled, when I tell you, you cannot serve a person a bunch of bones, and expect that to be OK. You cannot charge people 16/$14 for food, and virtually getting no meat. If I was a vegetarian? That might be OK. However, I'm a meat eater, and there are definitely other restaurants that will put this one to shame when it comes to the true taste of African/Nigerian/Senegalese food. Because they don't even make their food spicy the way it supposed to be any longer! ** I actually still have the two big bones in the other dish as well. I will attempt to upload that on another post.
