Egusi and spinach

Hear me out... I've never had the desire to try Nigerian food. My friend -who is from here but lives in Georgia told me abt this place when she came to visit recently. It's fun to eat, the flavors in the Egusi are SOOOO complex, you have to be a bit of a foodie. It was delicious. Piping hot it came to my door. So flavorful. I clearly ordered ordered pizza just in case lol -- ve been reading a lot in the portions and it's perfect for myself. I'm not sure abt the pricing. I have nothing to compare it to in order to complain. When you are afoodie you tend to spend money on food like others spend on amazon. I didn't get it in the restaurant so I'm unsure of the ambiance. Service good I would say considering how hot and fresh my food was. Greatness.

First time here but loved the lamb schwarma and plantains. Delicious! Owner was there and super nice and personable to guests. Everything was clean, including the bathrooms. Very easy ordering process. We will be back to try more items off the menu. Please support this business to help keep them afloat!

KSB African & Caribbean - Spinach Egusi Stew Served With Choice Of Protein And Fufu

Cousinnnn! Auntie has made dinner, come join! I mean wow. This brings back the nostalgia of eating…read moremy favorite meal- fufu and light soup with goat with family at the table. I have been looking for an authentic Ghanaian restaurant in Baltimore for years and have finally found it. The service is amazing, the owners son is always accommodating and friendly when he answers the phone and always pleasantly greets me when I walk in. Although I'd love to be able to eat here, I'd probably need a wheel barrow to leave so account for this being a to go experience with you favorite pillow and blanket nearby for the nap you'll need. I've been here several times before writing this review because it really felt like I was going to pick up food from aunties house and forgot, WHOOPS. I always get the same thing but my husband has ventured to the Caribbean menu and has gotten oxtails the size of his palm, twice- going above and beyond is clearly they're M O. The goat is always so perfectly cooked, flavorful and more than enough to last the whole meal. They really add a new meaning to Baltimore eating for me and I'm so grateful! I always recommend calling to place your order to ensure it's available because stuff sells out due to its amazingness!

A place where you can find jollof rice AND Jamaican beef patties? Sign me up!…read more The exterior is unassuming but the interior is bright, clean, and the service is polite and attentive. Kudos to the owner for being such a delight! I ordered jollof rice with chicken and a beef patty (of course). Both were excellent but I have to shower the jollof rice with praise. As a Nigerian American, the struggle to find good jollof is real. I have to say that this Ghanian style jollof was quite good. I won't get into a whole thing about which country has the best jollof but I enjoyed this iteration quite a bit. I highly recommend checking out KSB when you're near Parkville.

NOW I UNDERSTAND y the chick below was singing AT LAAAAAAAAST!!!…read moreI was getting under the weather n needed spicy food and I always go african to find that... had been elsewhere days prior and food was totally bland but these folks had that standard nigerian party rice taste oh my geez i was floating and gloating. wanted to buy a carry out but cuz its so heavy and I struggled w/my seat buckle on my last flight................ yeah. SO. i had the jollof n plantain n beef and asked for extra side stew cause I can never eat rice dry regardless how tender it is. The plantain were PERFECTION... the meat uber pliable and I can taste it all coming back now. came back later for egusi n eba which is another plate I get when im getting ill for the greens n the fiber and the PEPPER. Think theyre probably one of the best authentic fares in the whole area cause I searched hi/low. Thank God I found em! As far as the wait time it really was average but when you come to these unique kind of places best bet is call ahead or ask upfront whats READY or what food they made for the day cause they never make everrrrything on the menu

Upon reading the reviews here, I saw how they're mixed up so I wanted to try this place out to see…read morehow it is. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and found that the place is very spacious. Wooden booths and wooden tables with wooden chairs. Everything here is wooden. Not necessarily a bad thing. As I walked in, I was greeted by a woman. When I tried to ask her some questions, she didn't understand what I was trying to ask. So I just said "menu please" and she gave me a menu. The menu is small which I thought was great. I asked her if she had any recommendations. She pointed at the Jollof Rice dish and asked me what kind of meat do I like. I said the Goat and Tripe then told her either one is fine. She nodded her head and started to walk back to the kitchen but I stopped her and asked for another dish. She then pointed at the Okra dish. The Jollof rice dish comes with rice, plantains and a choice of meat and the Okra dish comes with Fufu (Solidified Mashed Potatoes used like bread.) and a choice of meat. Cool so I waited while watching the news on the tube. I checked in the restaurant first time and because of that, Yelp said I could get a 10% off of my first order there, yay! So I waited till she gave me my food and told her about the Yelp coupon. She smiled, shook her head and told me "no". I then asked her one more time because I'm sure Restaurants have to contact the company and advertise. I'm sure the company doesn't do the advertising for the restaurants... She again said "No, we don't do". I understand if the place is trying to get that money especially when it was empty when I came in but I found that to be a bit odd at the least. Then she gave me the receipt and come to find out, she charged me more than what the menu said. The menu said 13 bucks for each dish (The 2 dishes I got.) so including tax, it would have been around 27 bucks and some change. Instead the total was 33 bucks. Like I said above, I understand if they're trying to get money or survive but charging me hidden prices is terrible. If she had told me beforehand, I wouldn't have mind giving them extra money. It's not the amount of money that they took from me, it's the principle of their menu saying 1 price then charging me extra as if I wasn't going to find out. Anyways I paid it then left and when I got home I tasted the Jollof Rice dish. The rice had a distinct flavor to it which I liked and it came with Goat. The Goat was tasty and tender and the plantains were just plantains. I then had the Okra dish and the goat in that was very delicious. However, there were only 5 pieces in the dish. I then took some Fufu and laid it on my plate and got some Okra sauce and laid it on top of the Fufu. I took a bite and WOW it was terrible. You know how when you get too drunk and throw up, there's that after taste and burning sensation in your throat? It was EXACTLY like that. But oddly enough, the goat was good. The food was good aside from the Okra sauce and the service was horrendous. It wasn't about how long the food took, it was about the woman there lying to me about Yelp and charging me extra for the 2 dishes. According to the receipt, 5 pieces of goat equals 15 bucks. It doesn't say "Jollof Rice Dish" or anything of the sort. It's like she charged me A La Carte. I'm gonna stop by Nando's PERI PERI soon and hope they can better serve me without any hidden secrets.

Food is just nasty. Please listen to the reviews. Save your money…read more Ordered the cassava leaf soup and it was barely any cassava leaf in it. Just oil and spice. Cassava leaf soup is supposed to be green. They gave me this red oily mess. Pepper soup was thicker than I am used to. Poorly made. This food doesn't deserve one single star.

The taste of the food has improved. However, I went two days…read morein a row, just to see if the food would change and it's description. What do I mean by this? First off I've been to numerous ethnic restaurants, that serve goat meat. Everyone from Indian, Jamaican, actually all West Indies, and other Nigerian, restaurants in Randallstown, including Senegalese on York Road. The portion size in this restaurant in comparison to what it cost? Is absolutely ridiculous. I ordered GOAT this past weekend, and I got two big bones with a tiny portion of meat attached to each one, and that was that. Their jollof rice, the vegetable and plantain was as it should be. So the following day, I went back, and I advised them that I got mostly Bone in my meal. Only to be snickered at by the elderly woman, and a gentleman who was picking up food stating , "goat has a lot of bones." All of which I understand clearly because I fix my own goat meat at home, as well as buy a lot of it at other restaurants. However, these other restaurants insure that you get meat, alongside those bones. Essentially what I purchased? Was a vegetarian meal with meat gravy and bones, without the meat. So the next day, I went back and tried to deal with them again (*I must note, that over 7 years ago, when I first tried this food, the jollof rice was much more spicy, however, the meat was much tougher.). So the following day, I got the jollof rice again, only this time I got it with the Beef. Which was the same day, the elderly lady snickered at me with the customer. She stated "Beef doesn't have so many bones. (Of which I know fully), so try that." I went with her recommendation. However, this time, there were two very tiny pieces of beef inside of this food, of which I paid $14 for! The beef that was inside of there was no more than 2" x 2" per piece. I truly believe, that this restaurant, though has been operating here in America for years, is still moving off of what they would get back in the motherland. That doesn't work here in America. For $14? I should've had NO LESS, than four pieces of those little tiny pieces of meat. Then, if we double back to the day before, with the Bones? This restaurant is definitely not worth the money that it charges for what I paid for! Because the GOAT, cost me $16 and some change when it was only worth approximately $10. If you go out Randallstown to the Nigerian restaurants over there off of liberty Road, just Google them, you will see that their portions are massive, and are absolutely worth the price that they charge for them. Or,, go to the Senegalese restaurant on York Road, and their food is absolutely worth every single penny that they charge. The service, atmosphere, ambience, and patronism is absolutely spectacular there. This restaurant? I don't know how they survive, they must have a loyal African following. That is used to such very tiny tiny portions of meat. They give you a lot of rice, and a lot of plantain, but virtually no meat for what they charging for. I hate to give them one star, but they truly, and absolutely deserve one star for that food. I will post pictures of the food, as today is Monday, October 24, 2023, and I still have yet to eat the food. Because I'm actually sick, over paying that money, and getting virtually nothing for it. I truly would like other African-Americans to patronize our African brothers and sisters restaurants, however, I'm not being spoiled, or entitled, when I tell you, you cannot serve a person a bunch of bones, and expect that to be OK. You cannot charge people 16/$14 for food, and virtually getting no meat. If I was a vegetarian? That might be OK. However, I'm a meat eater, and there are definitely other restaurants that will put this one to shame when it comes to the true taste of African/Nigerian/Senegalese food. Because they don't even make their food spicy the way it supposed to be any longer! ** I actually still have the two big bones in the other dish as well. I will attempt to upload that on another post.
