Those items are placed in your own pot which cooks in front of you. New Generation also offers a bar with lots of different self serve sauces and additional flavorings. The waitress assigned to my wife and I was very friendly. She took the time to go through the process with my wife and I. She offered many suggestions, answered our questions and was very attentive. She cheered us on if we were debating something and essentially was like "do it". Since it is all you can eat, she kept coming back, checking in and taking additional orders from us. The prices were not cheap but considering it is all you can eat and they have some ingredients that are a bit atypical, I didn't mind paying the price. read more

A cute and spacious restaurant space with a wide variety of high quality of ingredients to enjoy, from meats to seafood to vegetables, mushrooms, noodles, and more! I have a pork allergy and the first thing when I opened the book is soup bases are made with pork bone. However, you can get a vegetarian option. One of the best hot pots around the area. I would recommend coming here for dinner since they only have the tender beef after 3pm. I follow the recipes on the wall for the sauces. Anything that has the sesame sauce not to be confused with sesame oil, with garlic and soy sauce is delicious. My usual go to is the tender beef, shrimp with heads on or off, clams, and fatty beef, ramen and assortment of veggies. My favs are tong ho (chrysanthemum), shitake mushrooms, water cress, and Bok Choy or wide assortment of other vegetables they have going around on conveyor style belt. The spicy beef is flavored with anise I believe so I usually just go for the tender raw beef and raw fatty beef. As far the broth, my fav is Tom yum and spice it up with a little hot oil from the sauce bar. The spicy broth is good if you like Spicy. I've had it twice and it's a bit too spicy for me to enjoy so I usually add my own spice to Tom Yum. The mushroom broth is very light and is good if you add spices to it to kick it up a notch. They also allow ice cream and dessert but I never have room for it since I am too busy with stuffing myself on the all you can eat meats and vegetables. For an Asian style restaurant, they always play the popular pop music so it's definitely New Generation ambiance rather than traditional Asian music. read more

Conveyor belt hot pot? Count us in!! It was a great way to end our night exploring Towson Town center, just a few blocks down the street from the mall. Don't bother struggling with street parking, we parked in an extremely empty garage for the Towson library and got our ticket validated at the restaurant! When my broth came out I had to ask the waiter to make sure it was the pork bone broth because it was super clear and looked and tasted like water. But I knew that once things started cooking it was going to taste good by the end. My friends and I used to come to this spot on the regular. Still do here and there. I like this spot as its close to the mall after some shopping. They will also validate parking. The business also has a comfortable interior. The food is good here hot pot is on point. You can get up to make your dipping or hot pot extra sauce. My first hot pot experience! It certainly will not be my last! The broth that was safest for me (allergies) was the pork bone broth. Make no mistake, it wasn't lacking at all. It was just straight broth with a little salt. This is an all you can eat experience. It's very fairly priced for the amount of food and service you'll get. There's a sauce bar, where you can mix your own sauce concoction. I went with a sesame/peanut sauce and sprinkled some peanuts into it. Our server brought us the house sauce when he thought that would go well with the choices we made. He was right! At the sauce station, there is also a bunch of cut fruit and cream puff things, as well as a little soup. New Gen offers bubble tea and other fun drinks, but I recommend just the hot tea. I was a loyal fan of new gen until today. I found three thin pieces of plastic on the meat towards the end of my meal. First, I felt it in my MOUTH as I was chewing. When I pulled it out, it was a thin elastic-y plastic strand. Upon further inspection, I found two more on the meat. The owner of the restaurant came and told us "our vendor wraps the meat in the plastic" multiple times, expecting us to be okay with it as if it is an excuse for having us eat plastic. We already had 4 plates of meat by then--imagine how much plastic we consumed. As if it couldn't get worse, we rummaged around the meat to see if there was more plastic. We did find more plastic, but what's even more horrifying is the black bug that was stuck to the red meat. As proof of the bug not landing in the meat while we were eating, I attached photos taken one minute apart. One picture shows the pile of meat untouched, the other shows the pile of meat that has been rummaged around (with the bug stuck to the meat that was under the original pile). The owner kept playing it off with the other workers in Chinese (except we understood everything) and said it was nothing to worry about and that it was OUR fault. The worker said "I'll get you a new plate of meat" as if we wanted to eat more plastic and more bugs... I am absolutely horrified at the service AND their attitude. Instead of being apologetic, they took their time, was defensive, gave excuses (they kept saying it's the vendor's fault, as if they're not the ones who prepare the food after getting it from the vendor), and were overall just horrible about it.
