Food was pretty good, everything tasted great, and the presentation was nice. The menu had a lot of different items, and we mostly ordered from their specials. The fish dishes especially were the best. I also really enjoyed the dessert drink they had; I can't remember what it was called, but it was subtle, not too sweet, and had amazing flavors and texture. I even took a picture of it. A must-try! The place looks nice too, new and clean. I love trying authentic Indian food and this was pretty close to authentic, really enjoyed it. It did look a bit busy but we got seated soon. I would take a few points off because they forgot our order, so we ended up waiting quite a while. It was only the last dish, but it arrived with no bones in the biryani, and the server apologized and compensated us for that dish.

Found a gem of an Indian restaurant. This establishment hits all marks. I live 20 minutes away but I'll make the trek here for a quality meal. I'm a couple weeks late on this review. Food (5 stars) + Chicken curry Indian spicy level hits my taste buds at all of the right angles. We got boneless which is much easier to eat. + Paneer saag or was it palak? Again we got Indian spicy level and they did not let up. You can see many whole chilis and they level it up 5x. I'm sweating just writing this thinking about it! + Dosas here are very good to excellent. They come with all of the required sauces and their sumbar is very good. Their chocolate dosa is an excellent dessert. Crispy and very chocolatey inside. + The have a couple rice options (saffron rice or regular). We opted for the regular rice which is more short grain and similar to Asian steam rice. We also enjoyed their perfectly baked naan as it goes well with curry. ~ Fish is OK but I prefer boneless as their fish slices has a lot of little bones Service (5 stars) + Our food came one by one so everything came piping hot + It's funny they don't call their curry dishes "curry" but it's obviously curry Ambiance (5 stars) + The restaurant has a modern fee with fancy steel looking cutlery + Mostly Indians eating here which is a good sign but there's also a little diversity so we don't stand out too much

Food: Food is good. Reasonable prices, generous quantities. Good number of choices for both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. One feedback for the meats would be that we would have loved it more if it was marinated longer so the flavors would have been observed nicely. Otherwise everything we ordered was nice. Service: Saraiyu and Brahma were very gracious and friendly hosts. The omelette that was ordered was too spicy to handle for a kid and Saraiyu was very attentive and kindly insisted that she will have it switched up for one without finely chopped chilies. Thank you so much for putting your customers first. Ambiance: Nice ambience, they've got decor that reminds us of places, people and aspects back in south India. Neat floor plan. Loved the cutlery, I believe it is copper. It was a nice touch. Parking: Plenty. No issues at all. Strip mall parking lot. Restroom: Clean and well kept

Finally tried Suvai last weekend and we were pretty impressed. We were a big group of 12 (three families), so we got to sample a bunch of dishes, and everyone left happy by the end of the meal. For apps, we had the whole fish tandoori and the wrapped fish from their weekend specials, plus the Chicken 909, Rayalaseema Kodi Veppudu, Maharaja Prawns, and Emerald Chicken Skewers from their regular menu. The fish starters were excellent. The wrapped fish in particular was one of the highlights for us. They were soft, tender fillets coated in a flavorful masala and steamed in a banana leaf. The Chicken Veppudu was a hit with the adults, and the Chicken 909 was popular with the kids. The emerald chicken skewers were tasty but a bit chunky and dry for our liking. For mains, we ordered a variety of curries with naans and set dosa. The kids shared Butter Chicken Dosa, and they loved it! We also tried the Goat Dindigul Biryani, but that one didn't land for us. The meat was tough and the rice hadn't really absorbed the goat flavor. The Suvai Mutton Kuzhambu, Andhra chicken curry, and Chettinad chicken curry were all delicious, but the goat curry was the standout. Unlike the biryani, the flavor of the meat had seeped into the gravy, it had a rich, deep taste, and the spice levels were just right. The set dosa worked really well to soak up the curries, which is one of my preferred ways to enjoy South Indian meat curries. Overall, it was a lovely meal. The owner, Raja, was very open to feedback and genuinely interested in hearing about our experience, which was great to see. Our server, Gopi, took good care of us and made some solid recommendations. Service was prompt, warm, and friendly. The ambiance was nice too. Lots of open space, well lit, and thoughtfully decorated. It is a newer place, so I am excited to see how they evolve. Definitely recommend giving it a try. I will be back in the new year!

A new Indian restaurant with a weekday lunch buffet opened up: Suvai Taste Of India 5205 Prospect Rd, Ste 110, San Jose, CA 95129 My wife and I arrived for the lunch buffet and a order from the menu. My wife ordered Silky Chicken Tikka and I went for the buffet. My wife was so impressed with the Silky Chicken. I even tried it and yes, it was that good! The buffet was not very large but had lots of quality selection. Fresh cut fruit, salad, rice, butter chicken, other chicken dishes, and vegetarian selection. The complimentary chai tea was the best I've had. The dessert was a sweet milk (?) with noodles in it-amazing. The butter Nan was excellent, unlike anything I've tried. I also wanted to mention how nice the staff was. They suggested different dishes and sauces, answered my questions. We really felt welcomed and appreciated. The restaurant was very clean. The tables and chairs were comfortable with cups, water pitcher, fancy silverwear-all made of metal. I also really enjoyed the linen napkins. From what I understand, the Chef has many years of experience with an impressive resume. The meal we experienced supported that. I HGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant.

Suvai has exceptional food. I have been there twice so far, and everything I have ordered here, from dosas to North Indian food has been great. Easy 5 stars for the food. Reducing to 4,because they have still not ironed out the kinks in the process. Both times, the food took forever, over 40 minutes which is silly. Umar is awesome and a great host. I will be coming back and hope to upgrade the review to 5 stars soon.

Suvai serves amazing food. The dishes were unique and incredibly delicious. Loved their dosa, biryani, chicken kababs and fried chicken and the soup.

4.5*s rounding up as they are new. ***USP: Indian vegetarian and non vegetarian food ranging from dosas to Indo Chinese items to naans, curries and biryanis. Seems more Tamil/south Indian based rather than the more typical North Indian style. ***AMBIANCE: Tastefully done interiors with traditional rangoli motifs decorating the walls and South Indian temple MDF cutouts at the entrance. Sparkly new metal serveware as well. ***FOOD: They do not use artificial food colors which was a relief! We were a group of five so we got to sample a lot of items. All the items recommended by the waiter were outstanding. Quantities are less though. *Kalaki: 4.5/5: this is an egg based starter. Think of it like a half cooked runny omlette topped with some sort of a curry gravy. The spice usage was minimal and the usage of curry leaves provided a fragrant richness. *Kundapura Ember Kebabs: 5/5: they were served on a sizzling platter. The chicken was not overcooked and the tandoor smokiness was intoxicating. Flavors ran deep as well. The mint sauce served on the side was chefs kiss! *Gowda style Kozhi curry:4.5/5: delicately spiced chicken gravy curry. The gravy was thick rather than runny and went well with the breads we got. *Dindigul Venu mutton biryani:4.5/5: this style of biryani is made with a seera samba rice, characterized by the tiny grain size compared to the long grained basmati rice. Biryani was delicious, I expected it to be more moist though. I also felt one of the spices, either cloves or cinnamon, was more dominant. *Rayalaseema kodi vepudu:3/5: this is where we randomly picked an item without a recommendation from our waiter. My expectation was for this dish to be some sort of fiery pan fried chicken with liberal spice and curry leaf usage. What we got was a battered and fried chicken similar to chicken 65 but with some nuts thrown in. Expectations aside, the chicken was not flavored through and the taste was a bit off putting. Excited to have another Indian restaurant, joining the ranks of Mylapore and Ulavacharu which recently opened up in this area.

We went there after watching a play at Starbright Theater. The food was pretty good. The chicken kabab and the men on fire were great. The goat curry was delicious. The parota was nothing to mention about. It too crispy. Not good. The coffee was lukewarm. The person who took our order was really knowledgeable and polite. The food came very quickly. We will go again and try more dishes.

One of the good Indian buffets in the Bay Area and our current goto spot. The buffet is clean and well maintained and food tastes great. (Note : The buffet spread in my photos was a special festival one. The regular weekday buffet has fewer items but still tastes good and has plenty options)

We've eaten at **Suvai** a few times--both dining in and ordering takeaway--and every single experience has been wonderful. The food is consistently flavorful, fresh, and made with so much care. On our most recent visit, the owners surprised us with a **moringa soup starter**, and it was absolutely delicious--light, nourishing, and such a thoughtful gesture. Their **gongura biryani** has become one of our favorites; it's packed with authentic flavor and has that perfect tangy kick. For my kid, the **butter chicken dosa** is always a major hit. It's such a clever and comforting dish--healthy, filling, and something they look forward to every time. Beyond the food, what really makes Suvai special is the **ambiance** and the **kind, welcoming nature of the owners**. They always make us feel at home, and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers and the quality of what they serve. Highly recommend Suvai if you're looking for delicious food, warm hospitality, and a wonderful overall experience. We're already looking forward to our next meal here!

I found this spot through a local food vlogger. The restaurant itself is gorgeous -- modern, welcoming, and with plenty of free parking and clean bathroom (always a plus). Service & Atmosphere We were seated quickly, but the place was buzzing with people waiting -- no reservation system yet, so be prepared for a crowd. The staff was friendly and doing their best, though it was clear they're still getting up to speed. Our server spent a lot of time helping guests understand the menu, while others juggled multiple roles. It gave the night a bit of a hectic vibe, though everyone stayed courteous. Menu & Food The menu is extensive and full of authentic dishes -- exciting, but a little intimidating without some translations or descriptions. We ordered Kodi veppudu and mutton Pothi Sooru. Both were flavorful, with generous portions perfect for sharing. The Pothi Sooru, layered with rice, mutton, and an omelet base, was rich and comforting. I did wish for a bit more spice kick, but that's personal taste. Small note: dishes came without serving spoons, which is fine with close friends but maybe something to tweak for larger groups. Overall This place has so much potential -- great food, beautiful ambiance, and reasonable prices. It just needs a little time to smooth out operations: more staff, a reservation system, and a steadier rhythm during busy hours. For now, I'd recommend it for takeout or a casual visit when you're not in a rush. I'll definitely be back in a few months to see how they've grown.

Rarely has it happened that all the dishes ordered are good. We had this experience first time where everything was spot on delicious, authentic and super flavorful. Looking forward to going back and trying more things on the menu. Service was great.

909 chicken - not too spicy. Good flavor.

In my naivety I hoped it was some natural food color using beetroot. But I later learnt from them that it was not. It left me appalled at the liberal use of such toxic artificial colors. Colors aside, the chicken itself was delicious. But I will make sure to ask them beforehand next time and order something that doesn't have colors. *naan-5/5- this was amazing. Hot from the tandoor. It wasn't charred at the bottom. It was light and large. It was clear that it was made by someone who knew their craft. I will come back here just for the naan. *samosa chaat-3/5- this made me sick, I had an upset tummy for a few days after. It was hot day so I m assuming they had problems with their chutney or maybe it was the samosa with the potato filling. Upset tummy aside, the chaat flavors were decent, not the best of the lot but decent nonetheless.

For a Saturday morning, the energy was calm -- a good sign for a small spot that could easily get overwhelmed. The waitress set the tone early. Warm, unhurried, she asked how we had heard about the place before taking the order -- the kind of question a restaurant only asks when it is still building its crowd and actually wants to know the answer. Filter coffee arrived without delay, hot, no shortcuts. The upma and mini tiffin combo followed. Portions were generous and the food arrived warm. But dish after dish played it safe right up to the edge of forgettable. The upma had correct texture with none of the assertiveness that makes a good upma worth finishing slowly. The sambar leaned thin. The chutneys were there, present and accounted for, doing the minimum. Everything assembled correctly, nothing bold enough to make you look up from the table. Meenakshi Bhavan gets enough right on a weekend morning to be worth knowing about -- clean space, genuinely warm service, honest portions. The waitress clearly takes pride in the hospitality side of things. The kitchen needs to match that energy with a firmer hand on the seasoning. Good enough for a familiar weekend breakfast. Not yet good enough to become a habit. The paintings on the walls that were Indian and Tamilnadu related was great, but the other art work seemed out of place, not sure what the thought process there was with the management. Things where this could improve: Coffee taste can improve (may be sourcing from a different coffee vendor may help, seemed like a standard Narassu's powder from a grocery shop near by that probably was at least a few months old) Chutneys need a certain kick and that was definitely missing. Cleanliness can be improved for sure.

The place was nearly empty, so it was not like they had their hands full. As we were going through the meal, not a single dirty plate was taken away from our table. When we finished dessert, all the used dishes from the appetizer and main course were still on the table. That was so odd. It was rather hard to get the attention of the servers. At one point, a server who had brought our dishes before was standing in the back of the room and looking straight at me. I tried to summon him first by making eye contact, then by a meek hand wave, but he redirected his look a little away from me and just continued standing there. We were brought the wrong dessert and realized that only after we started eating, but decided it would be too much hassle to get it replaced.
