Yesterday, my friends and I went into this bar and wanted to order some drinks. I called the bartender to get his attention, but he looked at me and walked right past me. I tried a second time, and once again he looked at me but chose to serve other customers instead. I found his behavior to be racist, rude, and unprofessional. A bartender should be friendly, respectful, and attentive to all customers. The person I am referring to is approximately 6'1", has a dark complexion, a mustache, and was wearing a white cap and a sports shirt. The manager or owner of this establishment should be more careful when choosing their employees and consider the kind of service they provide to customers. We were not the only ones who had this experience--several other people have experienced the same kind of treatment. read more

My friends and I visited Sutter Sports Club to celebrate one of our friends going away for college. We had a wonderful evening, and up until the end of the night, our experience was positive. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and the service had been great. Near the end of the evening, my friend and I stepped outside for some fresh air. At the time, there were still approximately 20 minutes before the posted 2:00 a.m. closing time. A few moments later, my friend called to tell me that a male employee was refusing to let her back inside and was being unnecessarily hostile. When I walked over, I witnessed another woman politely asking if she could re-enter to use the restroom. Rather than responding professionally, the employee physically pushed her away from the entrance. I then calmly explained that I simply needed to go inside to get my boyfriend and the rest of our group so we could leave together. The employee stated that the establishment was already closed, despite there still being time before the posted closing hour. As I tried to explain the situation, the employee forcefully pushed as a woman, instead of communicating with me respectfully. I stepped back and noticed the door was still unlocked. When I opened it to once again explain that I was only trying to gather my friends, the employee ignored what I was saying and slammed the door shut on my fingers. What upset me most was not just the physical contact, but the complete lack of professionalism and basic respect. I have visited Sutter Sports Club several times over the years and have never experienced anything remotely like this. One negative interaction was enough to overshadow what had otherwise been a memorable night celebrating an important milestone with friends. I sincerely hope management takes this incident seriously and reviews how customers are treated during closing. No guest should leave feeling disrespected or unsafe simply for trying to reunite with their group before leaving. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will not be returning, and I feel it's important to share what happened so others are aware. read more

This is without a doubt one of the most friendly dive bars I've ever been to. I don't think I've ever had a bad time there, everyone there seems so friendly whether it's Saturday afternoon or Thursday night, I don't know how anyone who has given this place a bad review could do so, I suppose if the stars aligned correctly even a fun bar can be scary period I have heard that the regulars can be a bit aggressive towards female clientele, not really sure how they can fix this problem but I I haven't experienced it myself. read more

One star- unprofessional, rude, and disturbing I had an incredibly upsetting experience at this bar due to the bartender's unacceptable behavior. He was rude, dismissive, and very unhelpful. When I politely asked him a question--trying to locate my woman friend who had been there earlier and had suddenly gone missing--the bartender completely ignored me. When the customer repeated himself, clearly concerned, the bartender snapped, "I can't hear you--and actually, you can leave." Then walks away and rolls his eyes. Absolutely a question of character for an owner/bartender working at a sports bar? Can't help out a local or a woman that is clearly in need? The "regulars" were noticeably aggressive, especially when you're not accompanied by a man, which felt unsettling. Came here the other night with a friend, and had a pretty good experience. We (or at least I) couldn't believe how busy it was for a Wednesday night. "How are there so many people out on a Wednesday?" "Nobody goes to work anymore." I had two cranberry and vodkas, and honestly do not remember what he had. My drinks must have been good, because it's now Friday afternoon, and I'm still slightly reeling from Wednesday. There was only one bartender, but he seemed to be doing a pretty decent job keeping up with the crowd. I'm not sure if it's just because I haven't been out enough lately, but I was really impressed with the vibe and the ambiance. Everyone there seemed really chill. It was a bit loud, but not nearly as loud as somewhere like Scarlett's down the street. We were both pretty sure that there used to be pool tables here, but noticed that they were gone now. Interesting experience here. People are able to choose the music played on the speakers and every song was blasted loudly. The songs were always a variety of genre, however, When a Hispanic song came on (Despacito) which is widely known, the bartended decided to turn that specific song down very low... when the next rock song came on, she proceeded to turn it alllll the way back up loud again. We like how they continue to update the inside. We like that people inside are friendly. It is always cold on a hot day (thank you for understanding that air conditioning is important) and the drinks service are good (except one bartender, who others have already called out). Cool little bar on Sutter St in old Folsom. Not super big, but does have a coin operated pool table and plenty of seating. The drinks are strong and well priced. One thing I liked, and this is weird I know, is that they have three bathrooms. Meaning - hardly any lines for the little girls room - I gave 3 stars because it's a cool little joint but not sure I'd stay here all night. read more

I have been coming here for over a year now and it is my favorite bar. Unfortunately I consistently am the recipient of alot of prejudice from the skinny bartender Ashley and it needs to be addressed. Probably wont amount to any change but I hope that maybe there are some owners who actually care about their bar and will see this and look into it. She uses her position to refuse drinks and people, Ive seen her do it to other customers not even letting them drink. Look at the other one star reviews. This has been going on. good vibes at this bar besides the judgmental prejudice from Ashley and her hillariously pitiful gang of friends that collectively slander and throw shade together. The prejudice, that stink is taking it down to a 1 star. The place is 5 stars though, ambience, lighting, sound, the service is 1 star, and really its only skinny Ashley that has treated me this way. The other bartenders are nice. Come here if you wanna have fun, but dont be surprised if you randomly get treated different for not being in your late 40s and white. Dont forget to dance, haters hate seeing you enjoy yourself too much lmao. Ps. One last thing, Ive been getting this prejudice from her for going on a year now but what made me write this review is that I tip 40 percent every other drink, last night I had two glasses of wine, was standing by the speaker literally just looking around and she walks up to me im not next to the bar, and tells me that will be my last glass because "my eyes are going this way and that way." Cold beer in a friendly (if a bit divey) place. I have dropped by here a few times during the afternoon and a few nights. I always have a pretty good time. Decent beer selection and they know how to make a drink. The bloody marys are especially tasty. It's not a shiny club for sure. It is a little hole in the wall that is cool to hang at and play pool or perhaps dice. If this is what you are looking for it is good to go! read more

After dinner and drinks across the street, we came over here for a nightcap. My friend had to use the restroom as soon as we got here. I sat at the bar and an older bald dude asked for my order. Since my friend was in the restroom and I was getting this round I decided to wait for her and asked for "Just water for now." Bartender immediately became very angry and scolded me for "coming in here after getting drunk everywhere else and all you want is water." Way to jump to conclusions bud. I took a breath and with a smile I tell him "You're actually our second stop of the night, my girls in the restroom. I was about to order a round and tip you but never mind. Just the waters please." At this point my friend emerged from the bathroom and he just yells "Get out!!!! You're both drunk!!" What a drama queen!! Diver bar, yes, I got it. We decided to drop in after a few drinks at the Folsom Hotel. We walked in and immediately got mad dogged by the horrid thing behind the bar - WTF? The bar was lined with that group of totally in the bag, hope they are not driving, have not had a shower yet types - but hey that is OK, it could be me on any given day. I just can not stand the bar dice thing when they feel they have to slam the frigging cup down on the bar so hard it rattles your teeth. Bottom line was it cost them business, so out the door we went. They could at least try to do something with the men's bathroom also, it is disgusting and reeks. read more

This place is insanely packed, very small, and very loud. You cannot hold a conversation with anyone so that kind of sucks. However their bar is awesome to sit at... you kind of feel like a bad ass. Now in all fairness I never give low stars to a place based on the company they keep... because many of those at the sutter club are... not cool. But my rating is a representation about how I feel about the place when there is less crowding and more ability to speak with your friends. "Abe" Relvas, opened the Sutter Club on Sutter Street in Folsom in 1936, and owned the Sutter Gaslight Theater which opened in 1961. Didn't bother getting his name, all I remember was he was fairly short, had a beard and wore a baseball cap. I can understand being tired, maybe not wanting to socialize, I get it. He was irritated from the moment I approached him and asked for a drink, then I came back a short time later and asked him politely for a bag of chips and he completely ignored me. I've been here several times to play pool and have a couple drinks and each time I've gone there is a different bouncer who wears a knee brace and is very welcoming and friendly. So I've come to this bar like 3 times in the past couple months and everytime I came it was a good time. Except this past Friday I opened a tab and I don't know why at this bar when you open a tab they keep your card and Me being a little under the influence I forgot to grab my card before I left. Which I thought wasn't going to be a big deal cause I live right down the street so I was just going to pick it up in the morning. I go there in the morning to get my card and there's a different bartender there and I tell her my situation so she starts looking for my card in the drawer.. then after looking for a sec she says it's not there. So I assume maybe the bartender from the night shift placed it in a different area so instead of deactivating my card I was just going to come back later at night and hopefully they could remember where they put it. Then later that night I get a notification from the bank that my card was charged another 30 dollars at this same bar. So I end up driving back to the bar and there's a different bartender there again so I tell her my situation and she said she was going to check for my card again. After standing there for like 20 minutes she didn't check so I ended up leaving and deactivating my card. read more

I was with one of my guy friends and the bartender paid for us to play a round of pool. After a short period of time, some tipsy guy spilled half of my drink walking by. The bartender quickly picked up the mess, made another and comped my drink. Paid for a round of Pool, and comped out a drink.. Who does that? People with Hospitality. Your Awesome! :) Tip?
