I love Peruvian food and Japanese food so this was a welcoming surprise during the pandemic to Newark. The food is amazing and the prices are great. I love their lomo because the quality of the meat is good and not tough like most places. I was a little bit anxious about trying their sushi, but it was amazing. The Godzilla roll, spicy crunchy tuna roll and the spicy shrimp mango roll were my favorites. The only thing I ordered that disappointed me was the saltado pasta which I usually get from other restaurants and it tossed in a dark soy sauce, but theirs was white and very bland. I have also ordered large catering order of sushi for a party and it was a hit too.

I tried this spot up for a pick up recently and I must admit that I was skeptical because it's an fusion restaurant. Asian fusion and Peruvian makes for an interesting combination. But you get the best of several worlds, something for everyone I guess! I got the California roll I got was really good. I also tried their salchipollo and that too was really good. Their pork and chucking dumplings were flavorful and I tore those up quickly in the car. I'll be ordering from here again!! BTW the chicken ramen was fulfilling, next time I'll request some chili oil, at least I had some already!!

2 for 1 California Roll Family Crunch Special

Tried it for the first time last week, I ordered off Uber eats. I tried both sushi and their Latin platter. I'd say 3.5 stars but rounded up since the pricing was good. The sushi rolls were good and the packaging and delivery was great. The two for 1 California rolls was what reeled me in to order when I was going through menus. The Family crunch was a great deal as well and the sushi was really good. Unfortunately, the Hispanic food was very disappointing. The pork chop was very over cooked and had no real flavor. I just tasted burnt and even with adding salt & adobo it was just eatable. What really saved the meal was the soup. Man oh man was it good. I will try them again, but even so I would recommend the sushi especially for their great pricing.

    7. Shrimp Tempura Roll Im so disappointed in this. How are 3 of my rolls just rice and seaweed??? (I ate one and noticed it had nothing in it) the fact that I come to Sushitobox often this doesn't make me happy and I didn't even get a receipt. I feel like I can't even complain to the manager cause nothing will get done. People make sure you check your food before leaving!! Its my birthday and I had a long day of work and have been craving sushi for these past few days all I wanted was some good shush I and of course I couldn't even get that.

The only thing stopping me from giving this place 5 stars is the often very slow service. It's friendly, but SLOW. Maybe I make the mistake of coming here when I'm starving... BUT the maki leche de tigre is amazing and the buns and dumplings and standard sushi rolls are fresh and delicious. A great and surprising addition to this part of Newark.

This restaurant was surprisingly good with decent prices! I never thought a peruvian restaurant mixed with Asian would ever work good together . My boyfriend and I ordered the 30 piece family crunch which comes with 10 Shrimp tempura roll, 10 California roll , 10 spicy California crunch. We also ordered the lomo pollo that comes with chicken , white rice , soy sauce and French fries . Our bill was $30 Our entire meal was delicious. I will definitely return for the sushi but not so much of the Lomo meal. The woman that serves the food was very attentive, courteous, and helpful. Parking is horrible because the restaurant sits on a very busy main st.

Food is more so worth 3.5... but like someone else here said in their review, its worth rounding up due to their fair prices. I have only ordered in delivery from this place. Of everything i have tried, the best for me was the sushi burrito. It is fresh tasting, satisfying. and has a lot of crunchy vegetables in it. I have ordered it maybe 3 times now for 10 bucks. Everything else i have had was just okay. The shrimp bao is OK but i have had better at other restaurants (e.g. Fujiya Ramen). The same goes for their pork ramen and chicken ramen. The beef empanada was a bit tasteless, but the chicken empanada was like a handheld chicken pot pie. Only downside was the inside of the empanadas were cold when we got them delivered, so we had to warm them up more ourselves. I probably will not order them again. The maki brasero was ok, but not worth ordering again. The same goes for the tuna acevichado (was covered in too much of a mayo based cream sauce which i found overwhelming). Upside is the prices are good, so i would say it is all still worth it. Nothing was bad. Love those sushi burritos!

It's an intimate dining setting, and perfect place to take to impress a date. The service was immaculate. The servers were kind and knowledgeable when I was asking about a few things on the menu cause there was too many good options to pick I needed help lol. Food was insanely good. and the black sesame bubble tea was also so good I'm pretty sure it's all locally sourced and you can tell in the taste. Can't believe it took me this long to finally try this spot. They've got a new regular in me!!! Plus the lunch specials look way too good to pass up I need to try one week! Overall, I loved everything but I would say standouts for us were the love boat (that damn fried avocado was insanely good), the seared salmon (10000/10), and the salmon sashimi. As well as any of the specialty rolls you're in for a treat. and if you like swiss cheese try the OMG roll!! it comes out in a swan on fire heard it's poppin here on the weekends. expect a wait or come during the week to be sat immediately!! we came on a wednesday night and there was no wait.

It's the kind of place that feels thoughtfully designed without trying too hard. Our waiter was incredibly welcoming and friendly, which set a great tone for the meal. For drinks, we ordered the Raspberry Moon and a matcha latte. Both were colorful, well-presented, and really tasty, a nice way to start the meal. The food itself was an experience. We ordered the temaki set and got to learn how to assemble our own hand rolls, which made the meal interactive and fun. The sushi arrived in a beautiful presentation and everything tasted fresh and high quality. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience with great service, creative drinks, and delicious food. Definitely a spot worth checking out in Montclair.

The reservation required a credit card but I was able to mention a birthday. We were seated right away at a nice window table with a bench, which made it easy to fit everyone. We ordered a bunch of small plates and not a single miss: Tuna Crudo -- fresh, simple, and kid-approved Japanese Potato Salad with Ikura -- lightly creamy with a salty, briny pop Asari Clam Soup -- loaded with clams, miso; buttery and comforting Furikake Cottage Fries -- hot, round crispy ridges with a ketchup-y dip, very snackable for everyone Spicy Tuna Dip -- gone in about 60 seconds For the temaki (hand rolls), they recommend 5 per person. They do something a little different and honestly pretty fun. The fillings come out on flat sticks in a wooden holder (kinda like a taco stand), and you get boxes of nori (seaweed sheets) on the side. You slide the filling onto the seaweed yourself and eat it right away, so everything stays nice and crisp. It's a little DIY, but in a good way. While they offer 3 Temaki preselected sets, you can also order a la carte. I went with the Signature Set (tuna poke, XO scallop, coconut shrimp, salmon serrano, cucumber black sesame) and was really happy with it. We also got also got 2 sets of California rolls for the girls. My brother's Everything Bagel hand roll was a fun surprise. It tasted just like one. We finished with the Lemon Curd Churros- fresh, hot, and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The curd was a little on the firm side, but still good. Everyone left full and delighted. NOTES/TIPS: **BYOB, Wheelchair-accessible. Clean bathrooms. Modern vibes. **Entire menu is gluten-free **Vegan options available if you ask, plus a strong plant-based roll selection **Plan for ~5 hand rolls per person (including the kids) **Several parking decks a block or two away

Y'all, so not worth it. I came here with a group of 5 people, all of us seasoned sushi/sashimi…read moreeaters. Two of us ordered a spicy tuna roll; one person a hot shrimp roll (not pictured), we got one appetizer to share (also not pictured), and one beef yakisoba. The tuna roll was a major let down; it was cooked tuna and the two of us who ordered it were petty sure it was canned based on its texture and taste. The hot shrimp roll was solid. The yakisoba was salty, but decent. The appetizer, which was raw fish in lemon juice (ceviche), had this chalky taste to it. Not sure if that was part of the seasoning or what, but it did not leave a good taste in our mouth, nor did it have a good texture. The service was decent and incredibly slow for a sushi place. We came in around 2:30pm and we were the only customers in the restaurant. We got our food at vastly different times, about 20 minutes apart from each other. Points only for the server, who was kind and attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. We spent over $100 and all left hungry and dissatisfied.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had…read more We came in excited to try Brazilian-style sushi for the first time, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. When I asked the server about the all-you-can-eat option, he appeared completely uninformed and unable to answer basic questions. We ordered several appetizers but were only brought four very small items--none of which stood out, except for a Doritos chip, oddly enough. Following that, we waited over 40 minutes for our sushi, despite the restaurant being nearly empty with only two tables occupied. When the sushi finally arrived, not only was our order incomplete, but what we did receive was extremely poor in quality. The first bite tasted off--unpleasant and far from fresh. Concerned about the reported $2 charge for uneaten pieces (as mentioned in other reviews), we reluctantly forced ourselves to eat them. Throughout the meal, the server rarely, if ever, checked in. We had to flag someone down just to ask about the missing sashimi. When it arrived, it was somehow worse than the sushi: every single piece had bones in it. Just to confirm it's a bone not a fiber! It poked my tongue . When we questioned the server, he casually replied, "Some people like it that way." I found this response shocking and completely unacceptable. By the end of the meal, I felt physically unwell and nauseated. To add insult to injury, a 15% service charge was automatically added to the bill--despite the near-total lack of service. It's possible we came on an off night, but based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. We were genuinely excited to try something new, but unfortunately, this was a regrettable and unpleasant experience from beginning to end. I will not be returning.
