My Rochester friends invited me to a sushi spot that I hadn't been to yet. When you walk in, after finding that parking was pretty easy, it is a very warm and inviting space. There is a whole separate room off to the right but the cute booths right when you walk in are inviting. There is an app to scan at every table where you pay for each person to get all you can eat. Everyone at the table can add to the tables order, but they suggest to order a couple things at a time to make it easier on the kitchen and so that things are hot as we eat them. It was a great experience and the food was delicious. They even offered to take our picture, it was my birthday after all. There was a lot of options, and there wasn't really anything that we didn't like. The Samba roll tasted like a jalapeno popper and that was a favorite. Yum!

Decided to check this out. And we left very happy. First off, it's off street parking. We arrived around 5:30 on a Friday night so it wasn't busy yet. We were seated right away and they brought out miso soup and water. There's a QR code on each table that you scan to get access to the menu for online ordering. When they say "all you can eat", they mean it. Only thing not included is drinks which they have an assortment - alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We enjoyed all of our selections except the kimchi was not to our taste. The fried soft shell crab was def a favorite. The bathroom was clean but could use some upgrades.

Enjoyed my visit to Sushi585. The all you can eat fixed lunch pricing allowed us to try a variety of items. The ordering system was easy to figure out and the items we ordered were brought out to us in a timely manner. We liked how things were staggered, allowing you time to eat and then have a new item waiting for you. The gyoza dumplings were outstanding. I could eat these all day. I enjoyed the yakitori, chicken teriyaki, crunchy sushi rolls (salmon and tuna), and the chicken fried rice. All of the food we ordered was hot and made to order. The quality of the sushi was comparable to other local favorites such as sushi king. The restaurant was quiet and clean. The only area I found issue with was the bathroom. Clean enough but could use some improvement.

We love this place so much we keep driving an hour to come back! All of the sushi is amazing, and everything on the all you can eat menu is worth trying. Our personal favorite is the chicken gyozas. (We like to consider ourselves dumpling connoisseurs). The service could be better at explaining how everything works, as we were REALLY confused the first time we went. After that, we were experts and it's actually so easy and convenient. The only other thing I'll add is that one time we went and had all you can eat for $20, and the next we went and it was $40 per person. We really like it here, but that was a bit pricey for the $50 lunch we were expecting to have.

Variety of sushi (so fresh!!) and appetizers, tons of options even for those who may not like/eat sushi. Service is so quick and efficient; the app ordering system is so easy to use and at the end you pay per person! There is only AYCE option so come prepared (hungry)!!!

First all-you-can-eat sushi experience is in the books! Stopped by Sushi Samba for dinner with my bestie during a recent visit to Rochester. She suggested trying it out since it's relatively new and right in her neighborhood. At the time of this review, adult all-you-can-eat dinner pricing for adults is $30, which I don't think is too bad considering the dining experience. The service was really great and all the food we ordered came out pretty quickly. I ordered a few sushi rolls and some of their Samba dumplings -- which were delicious. The sushi was a-okay, nothing mind-blowing, but I was really satisfied. My friend ordered a few of their vegetarian friendly-options, namely some dumplings, edamame, fried rice, and a veggie roll. She loved everything! I like the all-you-can-eat sushi structure because it enables you to order things you might not try at a la carte pricing. I'd definitely come back, and if I wasn't in the mood to eat in, they do offer takeout as well.

Some all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants feel a bit grungy and use a lot of rice and filler. Not here. Top notch. Definitely going back.

Nothing spilled, everything still looked fresh, which already put me in a good mood. Now the food... I cannot believe how good the lobster roll is. If you haven't had it, you haven't lived. It's that kind of good. Like pause mid-bite, close your eyes, what is happening right now kind of delicious. The miso soup was a whole experience by itself. Warm, comforting, and it just felt nourishing. Not just something on the side, but something you actually appreciate with every sip. And the Brussels sprouts... I added just a little soy sauce and wow. Completely took them to another level. So simple but so good. This is one of those places where everything hits. Fast delivery, great packaging, and food that actually lives up to the hype. I'm already bookmarking this spot.

You are seated at a tablet in front of a conveyor belt with the sushi making it's way around the restaurant. You can take whatever catches your eye as it passes in front of you, or you can order from the tablet. If you order from the tablet, little cars bring the food on a second, higher conveyor belt above the first one, or sometimes a robot brings it to your seat. So there are 2 moving belts, robots, and servers. It's a lot! Fun, but be aware. It is cool that you can see things moving past and try different things. The plates on the belt are also less than a full order, which means you can try more things, if that's your style. Service is pretty quick since you're helping yourself from the belt. They do a good job making sure there is a variety of items on the belt and seemed to restock pretty quickly. You can mostly chose from rolls and nigiri. I do like American style rolls, and enjoyed the options. The guy prefers nigiri. We ordered some tempura and picked some nigiri from the menu as well. I really enjoyed the veggie tempura. They have good salmon - we tried the peppered salmon, which he thought was too much, but was smokey and peppery, and I enjoyed. There was also a spicy yellowtail, and plain salmon that was also nice quality. We shared an ice cream sundae with one of the little fish shaped cakes for dessert, which was really good. I liked the little cake with the red bean paste inside. It was fun and pretty low key.

We came here on a packed Saturday night when RIT's Nova group was hosting a fundraiser, so we got discounted AYCE and we knew a portion of proceeds were going to their organization. The wait was about 50 minutes at peak dinner time, so that was fair. I was very impressed with how clean and efficient everything was, including the cart at the end of the table for used dishes. Our food came out fairly quickly as we ordered on the tablet, and it was the kind of quality you always hope to get at a sushi joint: nice sized portions, very fresh tasting, lovely presentation. I appreciated that you could also help yourself to the rotating belt options for no extra charge. The only things we paid extra for were fountain drinks, and even those included refills (or so we were told - we only had one). The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. I hope whatever issues people experienced here in the past have been resolved because it sure felt like a top tier experience at an affordable price to me! The Chef was making our sushi in the front of the restaurant. Which is really important to me. A chef who doesn't hide his kitchen is confident in the quality of their food, and their cleanliness. I ordered 2 sushi rolls. I cannot remember which ones. But they were extremely fresh and tasty. I will think on it while typing and see if I remember. I have "Chemo Brain" so it hard. I know you're not supposed to have Sushi while on Chemo, but I have been craving it for weeks. I decided it was time for treat. My Dr told me yes, as long as I picked a top notch place. My husband is skeptical of sushi, so I ordered him shrimp fried rice, and Hibachi beef with veggies and rice. We ordered online, ahead of time while we were out running errands. We arrived early. We were graciously welcomed by both the Chef, and a very nice woman. We took it to go, and drove home. Super easy, and I think it is a husband and wife team. A very kind woman packed our bags. I was so happy that she put the Sushi In a separate bag, than the hot food. This might sounds simple, but it is a HUGE mistake that many restaurants make. I usually always get my sushi hot or salads wilted by steam when we order to go, so it was a nice treat, that care and common sense was used. The sushi was amazing. Ooh I remember now! lol. 1 of my dishes was a tempura roll, with Tuna on top, Avocado, and spicy sauce. The 2nd dish was similar, but made with real crab meat. It had something in it that gave it nice crunch. May have been tempura chips. My husband liked the shrimp fried rice, they chopped the shrimp up small, so at first he didn't see any. But he liked the flavors. He said it made the flavor more consistent. The Beef Hibachi dish, he said wasn't worth it. Too little beef. There were a lot of squash in the mixed veggies. He is not a squash fan. I helped him eat it and I liked it. But I can see that the portions are not "Big man" sized. Which I knew taking him there. But Japanese food is not usually pig out plates. It's nice healthy food. That's is what I wanted, and since I am sick, I got what I wanted. haha! He actually really enjoyed my Sushi. He didn't finish the shrimp fried rice, so he cooked up some chicken later that evening, and mixed it with the shrimp fried rice. we ate again as a 2nd meal. It was delicious. We both decided they have excellent sushi, one of the best places I've had in Rochester. We will be coming back again. We will probably stick with Sushi and maybe try their noodles. I think next time we will eat there. Even though we had some things we didn't care for. I did want to judge the menu, until we try more of it. It was touted on Google and Yelp as a sushi restaurant, not as a full service Japanese restaurant. As a result I am giving a pass on what we didn't like. Because what we did like was AMAZING.

Osaka is the first all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant in Rochester with their Chili location. Henrietta came after which then Chili eventually closed. Admittedly, it's been a couple years since I've been to Osaka. Hearing the switch in ownership, I was curious if there have been any changes. It's a yes and no for me. Starting with the good, I can see the quality of the food hasn't changed much. The menu for the most part stayed the same, and the items taste exactly how they did years ago. This is a good thing because I actually have never had an issue with Osaka's food. They've kept their extensive menu, and the items I ordered stretching from appetizers to kitchen food, to sushi have been fine. The appetizers come hot and fresh from the kitchen. Although the fish for the nigiri/sashimi/rolls could be better quality, it is passable and I've never had an issue. Another thing I immediately noticed is their upgrade to better dinnerware. Better presentation for the food, and they say people eat with their eyes. Where I can see some improvement is the service. We found our server to be very dull and came off as if he didn't want to be there. He did his job, but the bare minimum. He took our order and delivered it to us. We can see smiles on other staff members except him, but this didn't take away from our experience. Overall, $35ish bucks per person is a steal and you can definitely get your money's worth.

The food itself is good, especially the variety of sushi, though portions are small, so you'll need to reorder if you're hungry. The beef fried rice was overly oily and not recommended. When we arrived just after opening, the restaurant was empty. The staff seemed distracted one on her phone, the others in the back so it took a few minutes to get our drinks. I had to call another staff member to order a second drink because our waitress was nowhere to be found. Keep in mind there's only 1 hour and 30 minutes to eat, so slow service can feel frustrating. The environment is dark and a bit outdated, and it gets very loud once more people arrive. Overall, I recommend Osaka Sushi for sushi lovers or a relaxed group of friends who aren't in a hurry. Make sure to order a big first round of sushi to avoid waiting too long between orders.
