Had dinner here last night. Their main focus for dine in is probably the all you can eat sushi menu. Beware there are items on the order list that incur additional up charges. When looking at the main menu and prices, I don't think that they are out of line and probably worth the extra funds. The place is a very pleasant atmosphere and service is adequate. A nice relaxing place to dine. Now on to the food. The dinner AYCE has the typical offerings, although some standards seemed to be missing. Most notably for me, was stuffed jalapeños. ( I know not Japanese, but I do enjoy them )

Mothers Day Lunch. Informed server ppl in party were pressed for time to catch planes & trains. She was responsive & quick. Bento boxes and 4 sushi orders put in, came out gradually over 20 minutes. We were impressed w larger than average portion sizes for price. Restaurant half full, Sunday afternoon. Calm ambiance, would return.

Deceptive pricing. The website features a Saturday lunch special. The menu board walking in features a Saturday lunch special. The menu features a Saturday lunch special. ::sit down and order:: "We don't offer a Saturday lunch special." , waiter. (Who was very nice, but stuck in this unfortunate lunch special explaining hell.) These are the tactics of a restaurant going under. I wouldn't eat sushi from a place cutting corners.

Stopped into Sushi Ya for a light dinner since a few of us were in the area. We were seated right away. It wasn't too busy. Our server was very friendly and she made sure we had everything that we needed. We started off with some edamame, which was a great appetizer. The house salad, I could have skipped. As I wasn't the most hungry I got two rolls the California roll and the ACC roll. They were your standard rolls , I didn't venture off into their specialities. The Raspberry ice tea was delicious. You get a 5% discount if you pay with cash.

loaded with avocado. Not to mention kinda skimpy on the fake crab but couldn't even eat that, because of the allergy I have

Are there once. Decent. Ordered carryout through yelp/Grubhub and first time was great. Second time, they didn't even attempt to read my instructions. I'm allergic to avocado and can't eat fried foods. Needless to say, GH wasn't helpful and ended up tossing my whole lunch. Trying one more time.

the food was good but the service was terrible. the food took at least 1 hour till it got to my table. our rolls came after about 45 minutes. the environment was ok. this place used to be good but the downfall of sushi ya has happened. the steak was also cold and the chicken was cold and hard.

One of the first things I noticed was how clean and well-maintained everything is--from the seating area to the food prep and kitchen spaces. That attention to cleanliness immediately stood out. I was promptly greeted by Jason upon entering and requested a seat at the bar. He took my drink order right away and asked if I would be choosing the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) option. I decided on the AYCE and sampled a variety of appetizers and sushi selections. The consistent standout across everything I tried was the freshness, quality, and flavor. Each item tasted thoughtfully prepared and well-seasoned. I've included photos listing all of my selections. Service from Jason was friendly and attentive throughout my visit. He maintained a steady presence, ensuring that additional orders were taken promptly and that my drink was always refilled. I will definitely be returning again in the near future.

That said, the sushi was nothing too impressive -- it was decent, but lacked that fresh, standout flavor you'd expect from a great sushi spot. The Crab Rangoon was okay, but nothing memorable. One thing that really took away from the experience was that the glasses of water were not clean, which was disappointing and unsanitary. Overall, it's an average place that might satisfy a casual craving, but there's definitely room for improvement in both quality and attention to cleanliness.

There were a lot of customers dining in for Sunday dinner. For this first visit, I tried: SHRIMP TEMPURA DINNER- I was kind of disappointed with the batter that was used. It was more of a Panko breading rather than the Tempura batter. The Panko breading did make it crispier but I was actually looking forward to having the original tempura batter. MEXICAN ROLL- this was delicious. I loved the fresh cilantro in each roll. PORK BELLY UDON- very satisfying. Parking was easy since it is located in a strip mall. The place was clean and the service was attentive. I would come back and try their other rolls and dishes on the menu. 'Til next time!

The chefs signature rolls are so innovative, I've never had any rolls like them anywhere else! The flavors were surprising and delicious! With flavors like a truffle vinaigrette, garlic sauce and strawberry and mango featured in maki we were blown away with flavor! It was all so good. And it was beautifully plated. Also unique, Chef Soon has nigiri that also features unique flavor combinations an we had several that were so so tasty. I want to go back and try more! My favorite bite of the night is a tie between Chef Soon's Special Maki and the Zuke Salmon signature nigiri. The vibes of this restaurant are so hip for being in an unassuming location. If you're a cheesecake fan, it's a pretty sad way to end the meal. Thankfully my last sushi bite was the Zuke salmon, which is always excellent. We spent around $350, which normally isn't an issue because we've had great experiences here in the past. But this visit was frustrating. My sister-in-law has a serious allergy to seeds and peanuts, and we were crystal clear about needing no sesame. In the past, the staff has been extremely careful and accommodating. This time, two rolls came out with sesame. We were willing to let those slide and said it was fine. But then they brought out a third roll with sesame--and that's when we got agitated. At that point, it really ruined the shared meal we were hoping for. What was safe tasted great, but the repeated mistakes took the enjoyment out of the experience. We weren't in any rush, but it definitely felt like the kitchen was winding down for the night. Chef Soon also wasn't there, which was disappointing because it genuinely felt like the attention to detail wasn't the same without him. And not to sound cheap, but after that many allergy-related mistakes, there should have been some sort of acknowledgment of an apology, actions speak louder than words. In my opinion a small discount, a complimentary dessert or app, something should have been offered. Instead, nothing. Chef soon is my favorite sushi restaurant. I often tell anyone in Illinois it's the best I've been to here. Normally this is a solid five-star spot for us, but tonight was a three out of five at best. Mistakes happen, and I'll be back... but this visit was honestly pretty upsetting. I think I may be on a search for a new favorite sushi place for my sister.
