This is one of my favorite spots for takeout sushi! I have ordered from here quite a bit in the last year or 2. Between the prices, variety (especially for those with dietary restrictions, quality, and freshness it doesn't get much better than this! I love getting a miso soup or salad, 2-3 rolls, and some noodles to share. I never order without getting some variety of spicy tuna. With my most recent order I went with 3 rolls (crispy spicy tuna, yellowtail jalapeno, eel + avocado) and some miso soup. I was a little disappointed because for some reason they were sold out of spicy tuna rolls but not crispy spicy tuna. Additionally, as you can see in the photo, my eel avocado roll was way too avocado heavy. Besides these things, it was still a delicious meal and I will continue to support this business! read more

My new grad requested this place for her celebration. The last time we were here was before the pandemic and it is still cozy. It is an AYCE buffet with slightly higher prices on the weekends. There is a penalty for leftover food so only order what you'll eat and you can order more later. Your order is placed after filling out 2 forms, one sushi and the other one kitchen. Most of our dishes were good. Portions are what's expected so it is not wasted. We finished off with desserts such as assorted ice cream (green tea, red bean, vanilla and chocolate), fried Oreos and fried bananas. Everyone remembered how good the fried bananas were. It was not the case today. They had no taste, not sweet or ripe. So they were disappointed. If you order it, I would start with a small order which is what we should have done. This place is fine, I guess, if you're desperate for an AYCE. Rolls, sushi, etc, your standard basic menu where you write down what you want on the piece of paper that has generic things like kani, miso soup, tofu, etc. Nothing particularly stood out, kani rolls were excessively fishy. Bad tasting tap water, so I would not recommend drinking it, get a bottle. Dessert was fine, fried Oreos were good, fruit was literally one small chunk of orange. Such a great AYCE sushi spot in Long Island! My partner has been coming here for nearly a decade and has been itching to bring me here and I've gotta say, it did not disappoint! The workers are very kind and you can see they really care about the people and the business I think. I watched as the owners immediately smiled when they saw my partner walk in or when they went to greet returning customers. Their restaurant seems to be pretty clean and spacious too which I liked. I've heard that they've been around for quite some time and they must be doing something right! I enjoyed the appetizers and sushi they had. I thought they had a great list of options and what was nice was that they had a section for just sashimi! I don't think many AYCE spots offer just sashimi, usually it's sushi pieces so there's rice in them which can make you full faster. The sashimi slices here were also not too thin, they were just the right amount so I'm glad to see they're not cheap about it. They have a great mushroom soup too so be sure to try that out! Finally, the desserts! These had my heart and I love a good fried Oreo and I thought this place nailed it. It wasn't too oily or overly fried which I really appreciated. I got a vanilla ice cream to eat this with and it's such a fun combo! If I could choose only one food to eat in this restaurant, it would be these fried Oreos. I can't wait to come back again. I got the sashimi combo, it was pretty decent my favorite was the tuna. I also got one of the special rolls, the golden dragon roll, it was pretty nice but I'm not used to eating mango and sushi together. The waitresses were nice and they checked in on a good amount of times but they did forget our napkins when we asked. The store was empty when we came and all we could hear was the music. For an all you can eat sushi place, it wasn't bad. We went for a 60th birthday and were a large group between 30-40. About 6-7 of us got there first, it was a surprise dinner, so we didn't want to be late. The staff pointed to where the section was and that's it. We walked to the bar to try and get some drinks and the staff said they would come to us but took a while to come back. We had about 10 tables and the menus were write in menus but weren't numbered. When the food came out, it was very chaotic because the staff didn't know where the food was supposed to go. My table ordered first and it went to another table and we had to reorder ours. For starters we had rock shrimp tempura, shrimp tempura, edamame, chicken katsu, and dumplings. Rock shrimp was definitely my favorite. I love buffets. Unfortunately, during the COVID-19 pandemic, all the buffers are closed. When I discovered at Sushi Village was opened, I had to make a trip out there. While I was hoping for a buffet with all the food spread out, this is technically an AYCE based on an order sheet. You order what you want and they cook it for you. This makes sense for COVID-19, but detracts from the gorge yourself experience. Ambience/Decor: They are in Long Island, so Dine In is available, however, they can put a little more effort into creating more distance between tables. Food: Sadly, this is buffet quality. We could not tell the difference between Pork Katsu and Chicken Katsu...they were both overcooked and tough. The Tempura Udon was just plain udon in a tempura broth...no veggies, spices, nada. At least the sushi and sashimi was relatively fresh and made to order. Service: The servers were polite and attentive. TL/DR: I don't think the help yourself buffets are coming back anytime soon. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited this sushi restaurant. I've been to my fair share of ayce buffets, Japanese restaurants, omakase, and I've been to Japan too. Sushi village offers a wide variety of options from their special rolls to even sashimi (which I was surprised they didn't put on limit on compared to other ayce places). Everything was amazing honestly and the salmon sashimi was super delicious. The service was great and they kept coming back with drinks and more food and menus. if I could give this place negative stars I would. After reading all the other reviews, I had the same experience as everyone else, rude and unapologetic staff and customer service. When I payed the bill I made sure to tell them that I will not be coming back, I will be telling everyone and leaving reviews everywhere to let people know this is not the place to spend your hard earned money. I've only ordered from these guys via Uber eats and both times they did not disappoint. The Philadelphia roll is a favorite, as are the eel avocado roll. The display, variety and assortment are what you would expect from party trays and they do a great job of wrapping the trays securely for delivery. They include individual cups of soy sauce and adequate chopsticks for straight out of the box convenience upon delivery. The flavor and freshness factor are well done. I was very skeptical, because it seemed too good to be true but I was proven wrong, in the best way possible. In all honestly for the price paid, you can get two fancier rolls of much better quality at a nicer restaurant (maybe). Between the two Sushi Village locations, I like this Hicksville location better than the Francis Lewis Blvd location in Queens, NY. The Hicksville location is larger and more comfortable, with a larger parking lot. Ordering is done by specifying quantities on pen and paper slips. Our food orders were delivered in a timely manner, and our tea was refilled regularly. Overall the atmosphere of this location felt less crowded and more relaxed than the Queens location. The sashimi here obviously isn't as fresh as that found at finer establishments, but I found the freshness, texture, and flavor here to be reasonably good -- and surprisingly better than some local options we've had. Sushi Village is a solid choice if you're in the area and looking for an AYCE sushi and sashimi restaurant. The restaurant wasn't that busy, barely 25% full, and I had my hand raised for over 20 minutes all night trying to call a waiter/waitress over to our table. The entire time the staff were just chatting and laughing by the register not attending to any tables. I wanted to try an AYCE sushi restaurant and found a $20 AYCE restaurant in Hicksville. The restaurant has a decently sized parking lot and we were seated promptly by a waiter. The interior is big, bright and slightly dated. We saw many other diners in the restaurant. The ordering process here is convenient. We were given two different ordering sheets: one with sushi and the other with cooked food. The sushi menu contains all what you would expect from a standard sushi menu. You had a choice between hand rolls or maki rolls. There was also a sashimi section. The cooked food section was decently sized as well. After ordering, within 10 minutes our cooked food orders came out and then our sushi came out a bit later. We ordered shrimp tempura, grilled squid, a salad and seaweed salad. We also ordered an assortment of sashimi and sushi. The tempura, squid and salads were good. However the seaweed salad was unusually sweet. As for the sushi, the hand rolls had too much rice in them, I guess about two ounces per roll. Of course, this was way too much rice so we only ordered them once. The heavy rice was also present in the special rolls such as the spider roll. The sashimi was also not so fresh, most notably the salmon which was a bit squishy. This is not to say that every type of sushi was lacking. The squid sashimi was excellent along with the red snapper. All in all, Sushi Village is a mixed bag. You should definitely avoid any rolls as they contain too much rice. Only order certain types of fish such as the squid, yellowtail or snapper. As for the cooked food, it was much better. Most of what we ordered was okay, especially the grilled squid. As for the service, we got what we wanted by just flagging down the waiters. This is not the type of restaurant where the waiters come by your table to ask if everything's okay. We're good with that, because when we needed them, they were available with just eye contact. read more
