The waiters are aggressive with tipping the minute she brought back my receipt she asked about a tip not even giving me any time then sits behind me talking and staring with other waiters, saying " No tip " as we leave she proceeded to talk to us rudely in front of the whole restaurant. Maybe if they had better attitudes and didn't hound me they would've gotten a tip. You don't peer pressure customers. I've gone there for years never had an issue like this. The floor plan is open, modern, clean and inviting. Sushi is one of those foods that is either good or bad - it's easy to spot/smell out of date items. In this case they do a good job, I go twice a month and haven't had a bad experience. I found the traditional Chinese dishes (pupu platter) are just mezza mezza but the Sushi items have always been good. There are some exceptions; the Mongolian Beef is very good. This place looks slightly sketchy from outside, but don't let that scare you! I think, when visiting my friend, we'll skip the chain restaurants in the area and stick to Sushi Time. The food was perfect -- tasty and plentiful. I thought the spicy tuna was great -- some places make it too spicy, but here it had just a hint of spiciness I noticed after I finished eating it. Miso was tasty, seaweed salad (while not my thing) was pretty tasty, and my friends approved of the other salad that came with one of the sushi combos (perhaps the "sushi deluxe"?). One of my friends judges Asian restaurants based on one specific dish and he was definitely pleased with it. Presentation was pretty good, too, especially compared to the other sushi places I've visited. Service was good. The server was always around if we needed anything, and the food arrived quickly. He came out at one point with a bottle of saki to squirt in our mouths. This amused me. My only complaint was that he didn't notice when my water was empty, but I also never asked for a refill... so not a huge deal. I had udon and the vietnamese spring noodles. Udon was OK, but was noticeably sweet, like it was made with too much mirin. The flavors in it were pretty good. The Vietnamese spring noodles were disgusting. I've had these from probably 10+ restaurants, although most were in the bay area. The rice paper coating was soggy and slimy, and vegetables bland, artificial crab was gross, the peanut sauce was horrid. Like super sweet, overly creamy, and horrid. Tasted almost like bad ice cream. I might come back for more udon, since I am a hot soup addict and there is not much choice around this are. I have been going to Sushi Time for almost 7 years now, even before they renovated the place. I have never been disappointed with a meal that I've had here, and I used to go at least twice a week, every week. If you like raw sushi, GET THE NH ROLL!!!! Truly the best raw roll I've ever had. I've tried so many items on their menu and I've loved everything. I've tried sushi at plenty of restaurants from Boston to CA and no sushi compares to what I get from Sushi Time. At this point, the owner and most of the workers know who I am, and my boyfriend as well, and they always make us feel welcome and at home. This restaurant, at the end of the strip mall,, looks like a little hole in the wall. But the food is great. Sushi is exceptional, fresh and succulent with generous portions of fish. Udon with shrimp and vegetables was very tasty, with a light sauce that didn't overpower the dish. Shrimp was tiny, though, about the size of a dime. Dining partner enjoyed the teriyaki salmon, commenting that the salmon was moist and well-cooked and that the portion size was excellent. However he thought the onions that accompanied the dish were undercooked. The restaurant is relatively small (seating for under 50 guests) and was crowded on a Friday night. Our main complaint was that it was EXTREMELY noisy. The place really needs some noise dampening decor, such as acoustic tiles, carpeting, etc. Will likely go again, but def on a less-crowded night. I might have given this review a 3 1/2 stars, but this wasn't possible. Could not upgrade to a 4 star because of the noisy atmosphere, which made the dining experience far less enjoyable. read more

Late update! Sorry Sushi Time. I hadn't been in a while since my last review, but heard about the remodel and finally got hungry enough to try it out... O.M.G. so glad I did! Their staff has done a complete 180. I was in a big rush, but our server was very very attentive, (place was not empty) my glass never reached empty, nor did I have to search around at any point when I needed something. Food was timely and tasty, I got 3 rolls tho I don't remember which, but they were great and the new decor is quaint. From what I saw in my quick visit they really stepped it up. I will absolutely be back again now and maybe next time you'll get that last star of you keep up great service like that! read more

Okay, call me a Chinese food snob but most of my life from when I was a kid I always had good food, perhaps because "back in the day" good Chinese food wasn't hard to find. These days it's awful. You're fortunate if you get passable. I moved up this way a year back from Billerica where out of the whole lot one place was okay, unfortunately their spare ribs were soaked in honey or something but otherwise pretty good. Locally, for the past year it's been truly disappointing - I'd just given up until someone mentioned Sushi Time and based on what they said our taste, expectations, were similar. Happy as a clam! Food wasn't greasy - especially the fried rice, and the Kun Pao Three Delights was superb. The meats were succulent and tender, cooked just right and veggies right in the middle - not raw, not soggy. Also got a mini Poopoo Platter. Got a Mai Tai while waiting which was tasty and hand made, not from a mix. I'll be back; their Sushi Bar looks inviting - as does the whole place. Absolutely worst dining experience I have ever had. The service was horrible. When they served my 3 year old RAW chicken, it took almost 20 minutes for someone to come over. I told my server about it and wanted nothing to do with any of the food at this point. No manager came over, they didn't do anything about it. Never again. Boycott this nasty place. read more

Love sushi time! Their remodel came out very nice, more room and more booths are always a plus. Preferred place to go out for sushi. I consider myself kind of a difficult customer at times, sorry, (I request a lot of modifications to my sushi rolls) and they always are accommodating and are usually spot on with my requests. Delicious & clean! The only issue I have is that their lemons taste like a weird lemon/orange hybrid and their Diet Coke is usually flat, if you want a soda, I recommend you get a Sprite. This is a surprisingly decent sushi place for Plaistow NH, but compared to quality fresh sushi (which honestly you can get even at a Market Basket that has high turnover, like in Chelsea, MA), it wasn't that good. Sushi is a very particular kind of thing - freshness is paramount. You know you are going to a so-so sushi place when the spicy maki are all made of chopped up ground fish from who-knows-where, which is what most of this stuff was. Yelp how you've let me down. I saw the four star rating and five star reviews and said...we gotta try! We went there on the weekend and you couldn't get in the door! Tuesday night was another story. The upside - the sushi was quite fresh and reasonably interesting. The downside - the kitchen is quite disorganized. My salad and sushi all came at once first. It was quite some time later that the pupu platter came, and was brought with my partners main course and got cold while he ate his pupu. (That doesn't sound good but I'm sure you get it). And let's just say the Chinese food end of things was mediocre. Except the boneless ribs. But face it you dump enough honey on then and life is good....With Li's around the corner I don't know how this place can make it, but good luck! read more

I must admit that like other reviews, I was shocked to hear of a sushi place in Plaistow, NH. For that reason alone I shied away from sushi time. However, on Sunday night I was really in the mood for sushi but my usual place (Wang's Table) had lost power. Weird.. since everyone else had power. Anyway, I decided to cave and give Sushi Time a try. Needless to say, I was extremely pleased. The atmosphere was great (very comfortable and welcoming) and the food was delicious. I was slightly disappointed with my avocado salad due to the fact that it was merely a side dish compared to the overflow of dressing I received. Aside from that though, the atmosphere was great, the service was pretty good (I'll have to go back on another night though to see), and the sushi and selection of specialty rolls was great! I would especially recommend the spicy tuna if that is what you like. I will definitely be going back and will be reconsidering my love of wang's table. read more

The hubby and I went to Sushi Time for lunch. This place is very small, but cute. We started off with 2 martinis which were quite strong. My hubby does not eat any sort of seafood, so he ordered sweet & sour chicken with beef teriyaki and boneless spareribs with steamed rice and I ordered 2 sushi rolls....both were on the lunch menu. I liked my lunch, but my husband didn't like the smell/taste of his steamed rice, but he thought the other items were good. We thought the service was great. Very friendly and fast service. Haven't had a bad meal yet. Got the sushi deluxe platter last time, delicious. Nice selection of sushi and one maki roll. The spicy tuna sashimi appetizer is so good. Doesn't seem like it's that spicy but the crushed pepper on the outside slowly builds and by the last piece it's spicy. Everything is fresh and the prices can't be beat. From the outside it looks like a sketchy sushi place but once you get inside you know it's gonna be a good meal. Servers are very attentive and at certain times you'll get lucky and they will come around and squirt cold saki into your mouth. If you're looking for a swanky establishment then go to Boston, but if you're looking for the same quality that you'd find in boston come here, cause you know here they aren't wasting money on the decor, so all the money goes into the food, and there isn't much mark up on the prices. read more

Good ol' dependable Sushi Time. Most-visited joint by both myself and my girlfriend while we were living in Massachusetts. We came here as often as we could for both the cheap and delicious takeout, and the quirky, low-key dining experience. We love their vegan sushi, and it's nice to find some variety in the category as well. Our favorite roll was the Arizona (purchased by us countless times), but we normally got the sweet potato steamed instead of fried (gluten allergies for both of us.) They always obliged without a problem, which we appreciated. And whatever that sauce was on top of it...delicious. Other than the Arizona, we could never go wrong with the simple avocado roll. Good prices, great service, and awesome sushi. We have yet to find a comparable sushi go-to here in California! Sushi Time is certainly one-of-a-kind. Don't miss it. read more

This used to be the Chinese restaurant, China Xin. The owners apparently discovered that the greater Plaistow area didn't need two more Chinese restaurants, so China Xin has been transformed into Sushi Time, while its sister restaurant Xin Garden remains unchanged. They still offer a few Chinese items but the menu is now mainly Japanese and primarily sushi. The quality of the fish is decent., the selection isn't vast, and the people making the sushi are still learning. I walked in to an empty restaurant at lunchtime and ordered something to go. 20 minutes later, it was ready but wrong. And the avocado in the California roll wasn't ripe. Hmmm. This is the best sushi place in Plaistow, but I have to put that in the context of Plaistow. It wasn't too long ago that if you wanted sushi in this town, you'd have to look for a store that said "Bait & Tackle". I'm glad they're here and I hope they last long enough to figure out what they're doing. Three stars because they're new and because I can't give them two and a half. read more

My first time trying sushi was at a place in Woburn that I cannot remember the name of. I vowed to NEVER eat sushi again. Eventually, someone changed my mind and I tried Sushi time. I am now HOOKED. I have been to about 6 other places for sushi and have only found 1 other where the food was just as good. I have yet to find a better seaweed salad. The service, however is incomparable. The staff is so welcoming and friendly, they remember me every time. They may forget things here and there but that's human nature and it's a busy place. You can't even get mad because they are so sweet :) They have also recently added more "adult" drinks into the mix! What's better than that! I will try other places, just to see if they can be topped, but I will always come back to sushi time :) read more

I was shocked at the sight of an :::gasps::: 'ethnic' restaurant in Plaistow! I came here because the bro wanted sushi, I was thinking to myself... in Plaistow, NH? Population 7,000? My home town? Noooooo!!? RAW FISH!?!? Yep! There it was, shining like a star in the old shaws plaza SUSHI TIME. I am surprised they spelled the sign right because about 85% of the menu had fun spelling errors, it made the evening fun. Anyways onto everything else. It was packed, Saturday night before Easter. Packed. Its also tiny so not many can fit in it anyway and there were still families pouring in for the 2 (yes 2!) hours that we were there. The service was not good, it was friendly but I felt like I needed to serve myself. We picked out what we wanted from about 6 pages of choices, spelling errors and all! We decided to go with the "edmmae" for the app. We waited..oh 25 mins for it. We actually had to ask for it. And ask to order. And ask for drinks. I noticed there was also only one sushi chef working, which made the wait even worse. The poor guy. Anyways, the sushi was actually pretty good! I would go again next time I am visiting the fam, its convenient but not cheap either. I recently went to a sushi restaurant in Boston that had very comparable pricing but better service, atmosphere etc...Sushi Time must get very good fish then. I started going here when it was China Xin, then luckily they went out of business so the awesome guys of Sushi Time could open. I love their food, always have, I worked across the street and went all the time. they have good drink, a full bar (NOW at least) and great sushi. They put all their money into the business too. They've redone the place 3 times in 3 years. It was kind of tacky tiki deco, now it's upscale chic designer, modern look. As I mentioned before they have a full bar now also, and they can make a drink. They have the right idea on how to run a business. They walk around spraying saki into peoples mouths, Saki bombs, very personable staff/owners. They are always consistent and they always remember you even years later. My first date with my future wife was here 4 years ago and I put a huge sushi platter and convinced her to try all of it. She had never liked seafood, never mind sushi. We have dined here several times. Sushi is served beautifully and is very fresh-tasting and delicious. Service is pretty good and friendly but a little bit rushed and the food has never come out at the same time for all diners at the table during any of our multiple experiences here. The noise from the bar kind of drowns out whatever the server is saying and affects conversation at the table, too. The ambiance is friendly and fun, and the place is very clean. The Chinese and other-food-that-is-not-sushi is not so good, though, so skip it. It's a big letdown considering the fact that the sushi is good. IF the rating was only for sushi, there would be one more star, but since the menu contains offerings that have let us down over several visits, the result is three stars, (which isn't really that bad after all, just not a first choice for places to go.) read more
