    Pork curry!

It was a bit busy during my visit so it took a minute for all the food to be brought out, but the wait was worth it! It was so delicious and all of it was very filling! The decor is also so cool and authentic! the music choice made everything totally immersive! The staff was also super friendly and nice!

So I should update my review. Since my last review, the owner reached out and helped get things squared away with the double charge so I do appreciate it. It did take quite some time to get it fixed but I am just glad it is done. Again, the food isn't bad, service isn't bad, place is clean. Prices for the dishes were reasonable. I just had a bad experience at the payment stage.

Located in a small strip of stores. There is enough parking. Everything we had was so good. The vegetable gyoza, the dinner box that comes with fruit, appetizer (spring roll) seaweed salad ( so good) miso soup and 2 rolls from a list to choose from and the tei roll. Everything was so good. I'll definitely be back once I'm in town again.

From apps to dessert, it went above and beyond expectations! Staff incredible and very attentive to your needs! HIGHY RECOMMEND!!

Naruto roll with tuna- does not taste at all like tuna

Last few times I ordered from sushi tei the sushi was sub par, some inedible. Today I ordered a Naruto roll, which is your choice of tuna, salmon, or white tuna and rolled with cucumber and avocado. It is a rice less roll. The problem is the tuna doesn't even taste like tuna. And I'll be throwing it out. So that's 15.50 in the garbage. I also ordered a take roll, which has fresh pinkish/ red delicious tuna. Why the difference? Unfortunately it's a Monday and akanomi is closed, sake cafe is too far downtown, but I think I have to give up on Monday sushi if this is the result.

Black spots in the avocado. Quality is slipping.

Downgrading my rating of Sushi Tei due to an apparent decline in quality. Our recent delivery order included several sushi rolls that had bad quality avocado - black spots. This is not something that would pass muster here in the past.

Five stars from the sushi to the service! You pick your ambiance in either the dining room, bar or sushi bar.

The food was delicious and the service was very friendly and accommodating. We went during a quiet afternoon lull and it was very relaxing, nice ambiance. Would go again :)

I was very pleasantly surprised by Sushi Tei. It is an unassuming location in the back of a shopping strip from the outside, but the atmosphere is fantastic the moment you walk in. They have done a really great job with the decor. A coworker of mine chose to have a large lunch here as her going away, and the staff were really, really nice even though we definitely had a lot going on with separate checks in such a large group. I felt that they handled us all politely and even gladly took some photos for us so they went above and beyond. I will certainly go back for the lunch bento box. It is very affordable for the amount of food in the box. There a ton of options to customize your box to your liking. I went for gyoza, hibachi noodles, an eel roll, and tonkatsu. It was all great - and the tonkatsu was some of the best I've had in the Albany area. While the bento box is perfect for lunch, I would absolutely come to Sushi Tei for dinner as well, as there is a plethora of other appetizing options for their dinner menu.

5 star for sure. Phenomenal service by Chris I believe. Very clean and nice atmosphere and the food is delicious, but what put them over the top was the service from Chris, he said he worked there for 2 years, very nice and friendly.

Chris, our server was amazing. The food was equally and the freshness was on point. We started with the pork gyoza and the volcano salad. A very good sign of things to come. Our rolls (James Bond, Bumble Bee, and Volcano) were all superb. A must try when you are in Albany.....you're welcome!

No liquor license, so no sake, but lots and lots of bubble-tea. And almost no interaction with sushi chef (and no seating at sushi bar) - all orders are placed and paid for on one of two digital podiums. Oh, yeah. You are probably going to want to rub your waribashi together to break off any splinters or sharp edges. Not the best quality. Unfortunately, the food itself is also unremarkable. The sushi rice was very lightly seasoned. The nori wrap was so tiny on the nigiri tamago and unagi, there is no possibility that it could hold each piece together. Maybe the owner only allows the chef to use 1 sheet of nori each day. The ikura on the gunkenmaki didn't have that little "pop" when you bite on one, confirming the freshness. And the barely spicy salmon maki was partially minced salmon, with a bit too much non-salmon filler. I'm sure the college kids love this place. 2023 05 31. S14.

Pretty much every time I have ordered now from Oishi I'm extremely pleased with the salmon and have even tried a few more menu items. My husband loves the fried coconut shrimp on their app menu. The shrimp tempura roll is a bit overwhelming but also good. The salmon/avocado roll is also great.

When we entered there was no host at the counter, we were just standing there for a minute or two before we started searching for someone. Finally, a lady came out the back kitchen and seated us. We just wanted a small lunch since we were planning on picking up food from Che Figata later that evening. Well, I guess there is no regular menu only the all you can eat buffet menu ($28 each)? The way it works is there is actually no buffet at all, you must place an order for items on the buffet menu then wait for the food to be delivered. If you're still hungry and want more you need to place another order. On one hand, your food would be fresh and not sitting out on a buffet; alternatively, most people will fill up before their second or third item arrives. Something to note is you can only order 2 pieces of sushi or sashimi per order, and one sushi roll per order. It wasn't too busy; however, customers that were already seated were just twiddling their thumbs waiting for more food to arrive and there was only one server and she didn't look like much of a go-getter. After about 5-minutes of waiting around for something to happen we decided it would be better if we got the hell out of there before we were stuck sitting around like everyone else. I guess this concept works as this restaurant does have good reviews, but I just didn't like the vibe and couldn't risk a potential bad experience on Mother's Day. Sorry Sushi Shine, we decided to go to Sawa Shushi Bistro instead and had a wonderful experience there.

Wouldn't have thought I would have tried (eaten years ago traveling in Asia): razor clams, snail, frog leg, crawfish, abalone cooked in different ways (a very pricey seafood- in garlic sauce with vermicelli noodles & in Buddha Jumps Over the Wall herbal soup). Other seafood items included: ONE whole lobster per person (not sure if this was specifically for the holiday), blue stone crab, crab legs, shrimp many different ways (cocktail, boiled in shell & dusted with seasoning, battered & fried for "Coconut Shrimp" kind of like sweet walnut shrimp), a raw bar area, grilled oysters, oysters & XO sauce... The sauteed string beans were good, pineapple sticky rice. The rice in the large rice cooker was large short-grain with varying types of doness (some crispy, some wet...). The short ribs, pepper beef, & pork belly cubes were lukewarm, not very flavorful & a bit tough. The dim sum options in the steamers were probably great when they first came out, but my shrimp crystal dumpling wrapper was tough and crispy on the edges & mushy shrimp & black sesame seeds inside & the lava custard bun was congealed & lukewarm. There's a few soups like hot & sour, broth for wonton, an herbal chicken & goji berry (good for eyesight). There was a dessert area with a lot of fresh fruit, cake & pudding cups (catering-like quality though), almond cookies & herbal jelly, an ice cream bar case, a few canned K-pop sodas, refrigerator of milk tea, passionfruit juice, mango sago, etc. & 3 cases of hot pot ingredients including various fish meatballs, tofu puffs, udon & potato noodles, watercress, chrysanthemum leaves, napa cabbage, mixed mushrooms, frozen thinly sliced pork belly, beef, and lamb. I didn't get to try the mad-to-order ramen & noodle soup. There's a huge sushi bar with lots of pretty bites, but items looked a bit crispy around the edges. The eel on the sushi was paper thin. The spicy tuna sushi was not. good. Have never heard of or seen the herbal soup Buddha Jumps Over the Wall. Supposedly it takes a long time to simmer & the ingredients are immune boosting & collagen rich. Broth from pork shank, chicken feet, abalone, dried scallops, mushrooms, a quail egg was also in there. It's kind of like a rich hearty dark broth with "healthy root beer" undertones. This soup only appears at the best wedding & other banquets. Try it! Final thoughts: eat anything with abalone ($$) buffet is worth it for that. Get a hot pot & warm up any seafood in the water before eating it. Lots of interesting items to try. Overall it FEELS like a buffet - big on quantity, little on quality, kind of empty. Maybe during seafood season, items would be juicy & tasty, but even the meat items felt like empty St*rbucks food. It's not a bad experience, good bang for the buck. The frog legs were literally like a chicken wing & well seasoned & spicy. The lunch pricing seems good also.
