Since I don't live in Houston, it did not work for me. This is a huge scam because guess what? Anyone can get one of those cards and I spent just over $50 so I would have gotten 5 punches anyways. read more

I've been wanting to check out a revolving sushi spot and finally got an opportunity to do so at Sushi Sakura on a Monday evening. Sushi Sakura is located in a shopping center so parking isn't an issue. Katy has really blown up lately and their dining scene is growing tremendously. I don't visit often because it's a far trip but this was worth the visit. They have bar-style seating as well as booths by the conveyer belt. If you've never been to a place like this, it's a pretty cool concept. A conveyer belt brings around a selection of sushi and other Japanese tapas. If you're interested in an item, just take it off of the conveyer belt and eat away. You can supplement what happens to be on the conveyer belt by placing a custom order. Since their menu extends well beyond what was offered on the conveyer belt, I did a mix of both. When you place a custom order on their tablet, it comes straight to your seat. You're charged per item and there are different prices based on the dish. I tried an assortment including gyoza, pork katsu, a sushi roll with shrimp, shrimp shumai, teriyaki roll, and one or two others. Everything was good and I like that this experience gives you the opportunity to try a bunch of dishes. Plenty of parking in large strip mall. Plenty of tables but if busy you have to wait. You pick off moving belt if you want and the color of the plate equals a price which is posted on wall. You can also order a la cart Good service and the sushi is good. The only thing I noticed is they give you 1/3 of the amount of rice that a normal sushi place gives you. I guess they want you to eat a lot more and that way you spend more money. Everything was fresh looking and what we took off the belt and ordered was good. I did not know that they had a location in Katy. After being seated and placing our drink orders, we starting eyeing the conveyer belt and made good choices for salmon, spicy tuna. spicy salmon, tuna, and various other flavors. Each plate is color coded and the price per plate is listed on the menu itself. Also I noticed that each plate had a word of endearment/wisdom imprinted, which was cute and cool at the same time. We ate tons of sushi and it was all pretty good. The sushi was fresh and full of flavor. Also, a certain item is on the menu and not on the conveyer, then you can just let the staff know and they will bring the sushi out for you or place it on the conveyer. It's been a few years since I've visited, but I remember it was more convenient with the tablet system. But, when in a rushed lunch, the rotating items were enough to give me variety and fill me up. I was happy. The ambiance was also good. All the staff were attentive, friendly, and professional. The place looks clean and well organized. The food quality seemed good to me, especially when it came to the raw items. I eat sashimi and nigiri often, and my stomach had no complaints after lunch here. Decided to try out this place because I wanted to venture out in terms of other revolving sushi bars. Finally decided on this place, despite it being all the way in Katy. When I got there, it was smaller than I had anticipated, but social distancing was definitely in place. There was just a little wait, about 10 minutes, before a table was available. Finally got seated and started ordering off the menu, which was entirely on a tablet for easy use and convenience. There were several options and I definitely had a big order of sushi rolls and appetizers to start. I also decided to indulge and order some plum wine, which was deliciously sweet. I managed to eat and finish all the plates I ordered and even had room for dessert. My husband and I stopped here for lunch on a weekday. Our server was great and attentive. Compliment him on his curly hair... it made his day, LOL. This place is pretty high tech. There are tablets on the table to order from the menu and you can even customize your sushi. The conveyor belt has a variety of different sushis, appetizers and desserts. As of this writing I have still yet to hear back from anyone in regards to the bad experience that I had a few weeks ago even after submitting my complaint several times and was promised that someone would contact me. This is not good customer service at all. If the owner is reading this and heaven forbid he does since he no longer cares about his customers, his employees or his business, you may want to either bring back the digital kiosks you removed (because of what you claim to be "cost cutting" measures), retrain your staff, or hire more people that can handle customers better. Otherwise your business will not survive. I have been a loyal customer for years and I gave plenty of chances but what happened during that visit I had weeks ago pretty much killed any chance of me coming back. The other revolving sushi restaurant just a few minutes up the road has staff who know what they're doing even if they are short staffed and they have PRIZES, cool robots that bring you your drink order, and best of all A TABLET YOU CAN ORDER FOOD OFF OF with minimal contact with waitstaff! Came here because of the Groupon deal, and I know that they're probably more known for their conveyor belt style of Sushi but that wasn't really an option during Covid-19. However, we did get ALOT of sushi for a very good price and Sushi that was of pretty decent quality and I would come here again for their actual conveyor belt. Our old go-to for conveyor belt sushi used to be Sushi Choo Choo, but the last couple of times we went they had sanitation issues so we haven't been back. Sushi Sakura is very nice and clean, and I like the fact that from what I could see, all of the seating is table seating with access to the conveyor belt. At Sushi Choo Choo, half of the seating is bar-style (side by side), which is awkward with parties bigger than two. The tablet ordering for "special" orders was nice, in addition to tracking the orders on the bill. Only rolls, desserts, and some sides are on the belt, at least when we were there for lunch. You have to order even the most basic nigiri, such as maguro or hamachi. That does guarantee that they're made to order rather than leaving you to wonder how long it's been traveling on the belt, and the chef was quick, but then there were only two other parties in the restaurant. Not sure how long it takes when it's busy. It's true that in conventional sushi restaurants you have to wait, but c'mon, conveyor belts are all about immediate gratification! My only other complaint is that descriptions of the rolls don't accompany the dishes on the belt. You kind of have to guess based on rolls you've had before. The ones that are covered in sauce -- good luck figuring those out. It's like sushi roll lottery! read more

I love this place. I think the idea of sushi conveyer belt is really conveinent and fresh. The price is a little high, but the reason why I keep it at 5 stars is if you come at 3pm to 6 on a weekday all the plates will cost $2. If you come for lunch, they have a really nice lunch special for $9 which includes 3 tuna, 2 salmon, and 8 California rolls. I really regret not knowing about the happy hour special because two of the plates I had gotten we're as high as $4.50 each and the $2 would have saved me a lot. The salmon belly was rich and flavorful. I didn't like the tuna as much, but the sushi rolls were very filling. I didn't get dessert, and maybe it's only the lighting but the fruit didn't look that fresh... Service is nice and very friendly!
