    Nagasaki Bites
    Dan J.

Restaurant is right across from FIU in the tall apartment building, first floor. Came for early dinner at 5, took advantage of good happy hour specials, chicken fried rice, tempura, mojitos. We were a party of six, split between sushi bar food and kitchen food - hibachi chicken, steak fried rice Food was very good, we had Poke bowl and Nagasaki bites from the sushi bar - both recommended. Everyone enjoyed their food, wasn't a bite left. One complaint though. The hot food came about about 15 minutes before the sushi bar dishes. Which meant half of the table was done eating before the other half got any food. Not good. Plan accordingly. Will be back!

Finding a sushi spot in Miami that strikes a balance between fresh fish and innovative rolls is tough. Sushi Sake, however, manages to do both flawlessly. The quality of the fish is unmatched--the salmon is so fresh and buttery that it melts in your mouth with every bite. Beyond the sushi, their wine selection is premium and extensive, the staff is incredibly attentive, and the warm ambience sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience. If you find yourself at this particular Sushi Sake--or the one on Sunset and 97th--consider this your secret handshake into two off-menu rolls: The Leslie Roll, featuring crispy shrimp tempura, crab and avocado, crowned with yellowtail, jalapeño, spicy mayo, and a burst of salmon roe. Or, if you're craving something lighter yet equally decadent, The Mariner Roll, a roll chock-full of the freshest fish, artfully assembled without the carb heavy distractions. Honestly, just describing them has me contemplating an impromptu visit.

Really, really good sushi and a convenient walk from all the student apartments in the area like The One and Lapis. Very cheap and well priced as well to accommodate to students which I'm glad locals nearby also get to enjoy. Servers are kind and attentive. Very nice slightly upscale atmosphere especially at night. Definitely come here for the great and affordable sushi and sashimi (shumai with tahini sauce is also bomb!) and not for their noodles and rice. Tiradito for $20 is extremely generous and amazing for how much they give you. Craving it again already. Also, unless you're in one of the student apartments, it'll be tough to find parking other than fighting for metered parking at the burger joint and passport plazas.

I visited on a Monday afternoon for their happy hour, and it exceeded my expectations. The happy hour specials featured excellent prices and a variety of options. We ordered a couple of cocktails, gyozas, bao buns, edamame, and Thai donuts. Overall, the food, service, ambiance, and prices were all fantastic. I really appreciated that, in the parking garage, they have designated Sushi Sake parking spots that you don't have to pay for, as confirmed by the host.

It is small, beautiful with open space, and intimate that you will enjoy very much. The music is piped in and is relaxing. They provide excellent service and show pride of ownership. We didn't have reservations but we were welcomed and even received the best seats in the house. Our server was Francisco, who has worked there a long time, was excellent! We chose the Oma Deluxe because we wanted the entire experience. Francisco explained each sushi and what part of the fish we were eating. Each dish was brought out separately. There were about 9 pieces of different cuts of fish. They were delicious! My daughter had Sake and I had Non-alcoholic beer. Both went fine with our meal. Afterwards, we were served dessert. What a great experience! Give it a try when you can. Later, we went upstairs to ASTRA restaurant and bar to further enjoy our evening with beautiful views of Miami. Parking is mostly limited street parking though, so plan ahead. This spot is more about curated tastings, sashimi, nigiri, and handrolls rather than specialty rolls, so don't expect a huge roll menu. We ordered the sashimi assortment, white fish tasting, seared salmon, bluefin tuna tasting, unagi foie gras, and a few handrolls including blue crab and negi toro. Everything tasted super fresh and flavorful, especially the bluefin and unagi foie gras. Portions are on the lighter side though, so we left satisfied but not totally full. Cedrick was awesome and really made the experience better. He knew the menu inside and out and explained everything perfectly. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Wynwood and want quality sushi without the overly trendy vibe.

From the moment we arrived, the ambiance and location created the perfect atmosphere for a special evening. The food truly exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend the Miso Black Cod -- it was phenomenal and had the same rich, buttery texture as Chilean sea bass. Absolutely delicious. The Wagyu Burger was also outstanding -- freshly ground, high quality, and cooked perfectly. We also tried one of their sushi rolls topped with miso and filled with fresh tuna and salmon, and it was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Our server (I didn't catch her name -- an Asian woman, possibly in her 40s) was wonderful and made our experience even more enjoyable with her attentive and warm service. We truly loved this place and are already looking forward to coming back, especially to explore more of their sushi menu. Highly recommend!

They need to be a good sushi place to survive in this area but again like most places in the area charge 20% gratuity. This makes employees feel entitled and lose motivation to give good service. These are subsidies for the company to pay employees. The ambiance is actually good for this area. I would give 5 stars if the prices were more reasonable or if they actually had spectacular food. In any other city this would be decent sushi at half the price.

We got there a bit before our reservation time, and they let us sit in the smaller dining area as we waited for our spots to open up. We all did the $200 tasting and we were all pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the bites. It's 8 courses that range from a nigiri sampler, small bites, and dessert. Most memorable were the clam broth, beef loin and carrots, and the fatty tuna nigiri with caviar on top. The fatty tuna nigiri with caviar was the main reason I wanted the tasting! There is an à la carte menu too, but it was a lot easier just letting the chefs portion out our meal. Would definitely check them out and enjoy a superb evening out!

They proudly boast that their service is top notch, while it's 7 men standing in the corner and 1 sweet woman dressed like a geisha being obnoxiously monitored. The vibe felt very intense there. The hovering over people in this tiny, little whole in the wall restaurant felt overwhelming. I started to lose my patience being that there is so much staff standing around and found myself several times having to pour my own wine bottle. 2nd, I told them it was my son's birthday and nobody went out of their way to make his birthday special! And just a fair warning, you will spend over a $1000 dollars and walk out of there still very hungry! What a disappointment! Furthermore, they price gouge people trying to pass off as if his restaurant is Michelin worthy! An absolute joke! And here's the "best part" when I tried to voice my concerns, I was told to leave! I was very polite and instead of hearing me out, trying to make my experience better, I get told to leave! How disgusting! Please don't come here. The ambiance is terrible, overwhelming, and you will get sick because they have no consideration for cross contamination!

You can access the mall area from the left of the hotel lobby. What impressed me most was the presentation of all the dishes. They really took great care to make everything look beautiful. All the plates and dishes were just so stunning. The other thing that really stood out was the service. They were so friendly and helpful. I truly appreciate when servers know their menu well and are able to make suggestions. I can't remember my server's name, but she was just top-notch. We ordered: - Miso soup, (served in a charming, Japanese chawan mushi cup) the flavor was really good and strong. (I hate it when it's weak) - Spicy dumplings. They tasted homemade. Yummy - Shrimp shu mai, good, tasted as it should - Tanaka roll, with extra crispies on top, (I was not a fan because I did not expect it to be deep-fried. if it had not been deep-fried, I would've liked it.) - Peking duck served in an impressive three tier tower that looks like a round Chinese Temple. - Pork Belly Bao bun, this was also a miss for me because I expected it to taste like barbecue, but it was just really salty like they used a lot of brown salty sauce. All in all, I really enjoyed this restaurant, even though I didn't like those two items. Bec But, because of the excellent service, the atmosphere and the beautiful way they served the food, I decided to leave them a five star review. Those dishes weren't bad they just weren't what I expected. We don't live in the area so if we were to stay in this hotel again, we would definitely dine here again. I'd like to try some of the other items on the menu. You should give this Restaurant a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

It may not have the best ambiance or the nicest restaurant decor, but the menu does not disappoint. I particularly like eel, so I recommend the unagi. I also loved the hama chili, which is one of their signature dishes, the wagyu dingo, the shime saba (mackerel), the kimono even though it's a very small bite, and the kinoko nabe, which is not pictured but is truly a must. I'm not sure what they add to it, but it is delicious. If you have room for dessert, the fried milk is interesting because it has several different flavors and textures you can combine. The one dish I would not necessarily recommend is the madai crudo, which needed a little more flavor in my opinion. Service is good both at the tables and in the bar area.

We shared their happy hour omakase for two, and I added a crispy rice with gyutoro (wagyu short rib bites) which was highly recommended. The omakase started with a little raspberry pineapple palate cleanser "shot" before a rapid flurry of dishes. Their signature hama chili yellowtail dish was fresh and savory. The crab cake curry as surprisingly tasty, with the savory salty crab balanced by the creamy slightly spicy curry sauce. The chicken skewers had a nice flavor although could have been a little juicier. All of the nigiris were fresh and flavorful, and they even accidentally brought us another table's order of salmon nigiri which they realized and said it was on the house as an anniversary gift! My favorite dish of the night was the crispy rice with gyutoro - the lightly sesame seasoned rice sesame paired perfectly with the super tender beef and savory slightly nutty salsa macha. It's a shame they only have it on the happy hour menu! To finish the omakase, they brought us a slice of one of their new desserts, a matcha cake which was a little strong on the tart components but had a satisfying strong matcha flavor.
