The portion sizes were excellent, and everything felt balanced and high quality without being heavy. We chose the Izakaya Feast Standard experience, and it was absolutely the best decision. It gave us a great variety and allowed us to try multiple items, all of which were outstanding. You can really tell the attention to detail in every piece. We started with the Hamachi, seared albacore, and tuna crudo appetizers, which we found all fresh and flavorful. The yuzu sauce on the Hamachi was tasty, and the tuna crudo had a great mix of textures and tastes. The Wagyu with crispy rice was just okay for me. The rice was a bit too salty and overshadowed the meat. For rolls, we tried the Katana, Gensai, and White Lotus. Katana was definitely my favorite: balanced, clean, and delicious. A lowkey and classy ambiance, spectacular Asian fusion dishes, and the perfect date night for two. Sushi Roku is one of our favorites, and this location is superior. Easy to access, amazing flavors, and ample parking. We love the different skewer options (try all of them!), the delicious salmon wasabi roll, and the yellowtail crispy rice. Service is consistently pleasant and efficient. Make a reservation - they do fill up. I recommend trying to sit in the booth areas, if possible. First timers here and we both felt we found our new go to. Interior was really neat Modern Tulum vibes and the host was the nicest. Loved how much variety is in the menu, where at other Japanese restaurants you seem to have to pick and choose in between. So glad we came here to try. The decor was attractive and the restaurant and restroom were spotless. The food had numerous standouts starting with the fluke hamachi with yuzu. Delicate fish that was perfectly seasoned. The crispy rice with yellowtail was nicely prepared and had just the right amount of acidity. The ribeye wrapped asparagus missed the mark as the meat was dry. Japanese fried chicken was hot with a beautiful light crispy batter. It was juicy and flavorful. The tuna roll was pretty standard, good rice texture and good freshness of the food, nothing really to make it stand out. The brussel sprout chips tho were really good. Sushi Roku is located in the Manhattan Beach mall. They have valet parking with validation available. Didn't know they validated. Parking was $15. With added taxes and tip we paid $20. There is free mall parking across from the restaurant. First time we came we were served a mini complimentary cocktail, nice. Wednesday nights they have 1/2 off bottles of sake and wine. I ordered the hamachi Serrano, cut soft shell crab roll and eggplant appetizer. My husband ordered the sushi plate and edamame appetizer. All delicious. They have comfortable booths facing the bar and around the walls. They also have patio dining. Our server was helpful and attentive. I got the Tropical Hibiscus which is a hibiscus-infused dahlia christalino tequila with passionfruit, coconut, lime, and pomegranate, and it was really good but I'm weak and couldn't finish it. The Tokubetsu was prob my favorite which was crab, cucumber topped with toro, sea bream, white truffle pesto (ugh again I love truffle), and yuzu vinaigrette. It was so fresh and yummy, I'd get again! The baked crab handroll was good but I think Kazu Nori is my fave handroll. The ambiance and vibe are immediately noticeable--this location feels much more lively and trendy than the Santa Monica one. The staff were super nice and helpful, especially since we had a party of seven, including a 3-year-old and a 6-month-old. The food came out quickly and was delicious. I ordered the deluxe sushi plate, which included sushi, scallops, and a cut roll. We also shared edamame. Reviews were great, atmosphere looked nice, why not? I'll tell you why not: not only are the rolls incredibly small and pricey, they lack in health and sanitation clearly because we both got violently ill (and no we didn't eat anything the same that day or the day prior because we don't live together and I came to visit solely for that dinner ) or so I thought because we spent the whole next 48 hours sick and in and out of the restroom. The service - shoutout to Nadia - sucked too. She was rude, demeaning, and trying really hard to smile and be polite even though our drinks were also not good. When I asked her for a cocktail I made up on the fly, she looked at me with disgust and went "you mean basically a saketini?!". And don't try speaking to the managers, they will take your $ like they did mine, accuse you of lying or "thinking of somewhere else". Good luck eating here yall, maybe you'll have a better experience I hope but you'll sure go broke and still end up sick or hungry, or both. read more

Service is always great for us, they are always on top of it and very friendly, specially Jamie the Manger at Sushi Roku, he's such a pleasant man to interact, always makes us feel at home. Ambiance is smaller side but I like it and we come right before it gets slammed and noisy. But even if it's busy, they always make sure to take care of us. Food: Always gets: Hamachi Serrano, fluke Kumquat, eggplant miso, spicy tuna over crispy rice, yellowtail dice chile. We have tried pretty much everything on the menu, can't go wrong. First time dining at Sushi Roku-Manhattan Beach this past Saturday. The missus and I were famished after a sunset hike in PV, so we stopped here on the drive home. Started with two NEFT Vodka Martinis up, dry, slightly-dirty, extra olives. Ask Brittany to make 'em for you- she does a wonderful job. Appetizers were spicy tuna on crispy rice. Something crave-inducing came next- Brussel sprout leaves with a light dusting of tempura batter. I'd come back just for the Martinis and brussel sprout leaves. An assortment of nigiri and rolls followed. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. The neighborhood sushi places have seen their prices spike, so Sushi Roku is really no longer more expensive. Glad to add this restaurant to my rotation. Extra star for excellent service.
