I was craving some Hawaiian for a while and saw this restaurant when passing through this town…read morewhile in Arizona. Decided to give it a try, and it was not so bad. Comparing to other places, it doesn't hit the spot as well; however it definitely fulfilled my cravings. Ordered a three meat combo, which comes with three different meats from their selection of five with a side of rice and macaroni salad. I got the chicken katsu, bulgogi beef, and Kalua pork. Mixed reviews with the different meats. The chicken katsu was fine, although it felt a little bit dry. The bulgogi beef for whatever reason was kind of a miss; the portion I received was pretty burnt and dry, sometimes I felt like I was just eating charcoal really rather than actual beef. However I really loved the Kalua pork, it was nice, tender, and flavorful. The house teriyaki sauce also complimented the meats pretty well. For the price you pay, I would say it's definitely worth it; the amount of food itself is more than enough for one meal (could even stretch it to 2 meals for those with smaller appetites). Overall, it's good for what you get out here in a more remote town. However, don't have super high expectations when you plan on getting Hawaiian food out here, otherwise you may feel disappointed. Service was really great, they prepared the food pretty quickly within 5-10 minutes of my order. I got take out, however there is plenty seating if you wanted to dine in.

Fast forward to post-COVID, and it's been transformed into something completely different: Fancy Pizzeria, run by a family with a clear passion for what they do, complete with an oven imported from Italy. Anytime someone says Safford needs a Chili's, I cringe... not because I don't like Chili's, but because good help is hard to find in a small town. The owners here seem to understand that, keeping things lean and hands-on with very little hired help. As a result, the service from the husband-and-wife team is genuinely great... though when it gets busy, things can slow down. I've experienced that firsthand, and walked out once a couple years ago after a long wait...but I came back, and I'm glad I did. The food is, simply put, amazing. The pizza has that perfect charred crust you usually only find in bigger cities or on the East Coast. The Italian sodas are excellent. I've yet to try anything, from appetizers to pasta dishes, that didn't hit the mark. Prices are a bit higher than most spots in town, but the quality absolutely justifies it when it's in the budget. I've heard the name "Fancy Pizzeria" was intentional: they wanted to set the expectation that this isn't your typical greasy pizza joint... and they deliver on that, consistently. The dining area has expanded quite a bit recently, and the decor is creative and unique, with many of the dishes and utensils sourced from local thrift shops. All in all, this place stands out in Safford in the best way. I genuinely love everything about it and hope they can continue to operate in the years to come!

The patio is a relaxing place to sit in the shade, despite the industrial issue, airplane-engine-sized fan keeping us all cool. A sandwich that features pepper jack cheese and green chiles on buttery sourdough, it sounds pretty darn good on paper. But the pepper jack was very bland and the green chiles were lost in the sandwich. It was still tasty and the crispy edges on the bread were nice! However, the tater tots side dish that seemed so innocuous at first were actually the star of the show! They might be the best I've ever had!
