WHY is there underwear hanging in your restaurant? This was my second visit after a very disappointing first visit! Should've known.

WHY OH WHY SUSHI PIRATE? Underwear hanging on a hanger in the restaurant before going in the restrooms? This is the second time I've gone, TRYING to give you a second chance from the disappointing first experience I had. My servers carrying a coughing baby on her hip serving food and the other server delivering my drink order to the next table (it was not busy at all, myself and only 2 other people in the restaurant!). This underwear visual sealed the deal SUSHI PIRATE, I tried. This is gross and has to break some sort of code. Just NASTY, I tried and will not ever again!

Nope. Sorry guys but I've had better sushi at a grocery store. Service was so slow and there was only 4 other people there eating! And not very friendly. We ordered crab wontons and egg rolls to share. Wontons were good. and this are not egg rolls people, so don't call them that. Took one bite and could not finish it. Then we ordered 2 rolls to share, I'm not 100% sure what they were called. One was cold and one was hot. The hot was was so disgusting, and served so poorly. On tinfoil! I hate giving bad reviews but NO, just NO.

Wonderful food, great service. They gave us free deserts. I got the Godzilla roll and it was really good.

Godzilla, California and avocado cucumber roll!

Delish! Great rolls, with fast delivery, and good quality. Would definitely eat here again.

Veggie hibachi take-out and crab rangoon (this is half, so it's quite a lot of food) with mushroom soup in top right corner

Quick recommendation: don't order sushi, but everything else is great! Details: I've eaten here 3 times. Once in the restaurant and twice as take-out. I've ordered sushi twice, and won't again. I'm from MPLS and have a somewhat-higher standard of sushi, and theirs is fairly squishy and not fresh tasting (I've tried both with fish and vegetarian and neither are really worth it in my opinion). HOWEVER, for a Japanese restaurant in a smallish town in the Midwest, their hibachi is GREAT and their apps are good as well. I order their vegetarian hibachi which comes with 2 large pieces of tofu, tons of veggies, fried rice, salad, and soup for ~$10... such a deal!! Their crab rangoons are pretty standard / good, same with their egg rolls, seaweed salad, etc. The restaurant is quite cute, too, so I would recommend eating in if you have the chance. Overall, don't order the sushi, but it is a cheap, tasty Japanese restaurant for everything else on the menu!

Seaweed salad, Alaskan roll (top) and Serenade roll (bottom)

Decent sushi place that was within walking distance from my hotel. I ordered seaweed salad, an Alaskan roll and a Serenade roll. The Serenade comes with mango on top which is not something I'd normally order but thought I'd step out of my bento box since work was paying. It was fantastic! Considering there are not many sushi options in this area, you can't go wrong here. The total for my dinner was $25 so the prices weren't outrageous either. I travel to this area often for work so I will definitely be back.

Katsu Don- pork over rice with side of salad and miso soup. Generous portion and tasty!

Nice Japanese restaurant in downtown La Crosse (and also one of the very few in the area). My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night while visiting town for his birthday. We shared the American Dream (shrimp tempura, eel, avocado, cucumber, and eel sauce) which was absolutely delish and very fresh tasting- usually I find that there is too much rice in sushi but all the ingredients were well balanced in amounts and in taste. I ordered Katsu Don (pork over rice- came with miso soup and salad), and my boyfriend got Chicken Udon Soup. The portions were huuuge- I'm a big eater and was only able to get through half of my pork dish (granted we also ordered 8 pieces of sushi...of which I ate 5 of). But still, portions are generous! The curry of the Katsu Don was well spiced and not too thick nor thin. My boyfriend's soup had a very subtle taste, but I thought it was the good kind of subtle- it wasn't salty so you could actually drink the soup at the end. The staff is very kind, polite, attentive, and warm. I liked them a lot. I'm glad my boyfriend and I gave this place a try- it was well worth the money, the food tastes good, and the restaurant has such a nice vibe and environment.

Was craving some sushi and decided to give them a try, was greeted right away at the door. Staff was really friendly, and were happy to answer any questions I had with the menu. Ordered my 3 rolls like I do when I go out for sushi and it was the first time in a long while that I was unable to finish them, good portions of food, and usual pricing for all items on the menu. The rolls were delicious and did not lack in flavor at all, I will definitely be returning. They also offer online ordering

This place does have really good food - no question there. Everything I've had (across teriyaki,…read moretempura, sushi, rolls, handrolls, other apps, soup) has been great. Couple of odd things, one of them keeping me from being there eating dinner right now because I'd -really- like some sushi and they're right down the street: 1. the place has three websites. I'm not referring to the fact there's a North and a South location, or referring to Yelp or anything - just... three different websites. It's strange. 2. They charge a 33% uplift for all-you-can-eat dinner, at near-zero value-add. I know this because I went in, had the dinner, and found out at bill time it was uplifted over lunch... simply by virtue of being dinner. I understand that "dinner", time-wise, tends to mean different portion sizes in other contexts, different staffing levels, it's where you make your money unless you are a bar, etc. And in this case they broaden the menu slightly, adding sashimi as an option. I'm not a chef but I'm thinking that takes less labor to produce than about anything else. On the flip side of that, I'm sure sashimi, if someone was determined, is the fastest avenue for the restaurant to burn through material cost... if someone came in for three hours eating sashimi 5 pieces at a time and got away with it. That's the risk of running any all-you-can-eat offering - sometimes the bull, sometimes the horns. The food, cleanliness, staff etc is, without question, great. I'll definitely eat lunch there in the future.

I've requested this from them and they won't sub soy paper if the roll didn't come with it.
