Everything has to be removed and on the scale. No scan one twice and call it good. Grocery store is about 9 football fields wide and no clear order. Nothing there that I came for in grocery area. Issues with debit card readers made me unload my cart and put them all back on the scale...the third time in and out of the cart, I talked to the associate and actually got them to clear me to exit the store. I went inside the middle set of doors... a few steps in and a man on one passes me! I walk the short distance to the self check out to ask the employee if they have them, where are they? Apparently there was a door just west of the ones i came in that they are at. The delightfully kind Darcey offered to get me one so i didnt have to walk further. Aldi's has really changed since I was a kid. I remember going there with my parents shopping. They…read morenever had as much brand name stuff as they do now, and in fact, I think it was mostly off brand, Aldi's exclusives, or imported goods. This store uses to be a little outdated, but since the remodel a couple of years ago, it's a much more inviting place and they have great food items! Lots of cool imported cheeses and breads, as well as other foods. The wine selection is really nice, and I'm looking forward to trying their sugar free Pinot Grigio! It's definitely a lot easier on the wallet, and you get so much for what you pay for which is always nice. I wish they would build one in La Crosse because it's such a jaunt to get there, but it is worth it for now! I encourage anyone who has never shopped here to do so! You will save so much money on most items, and they are great quality. I wish they would get Gatorade Zero and Smuckers All Natural Peanut Butter! I pulled up and parked in front of the bay. Walked inside, surprise, it's just part of a normal Walmart store, but there's a little waiting room! Shortly after I had a seat Teal came around to ask which oil change I wanted? I told her a standard for $26.99....then...you know what, do the $48.99 synthetic. Teal then said they didn't have the items for the $48.99 service so I opted for the mid grade synthetic at $58.99. From the time I pulled up to the bay until the time I pulled away after paying. was a little under 45 minutes. I liked that the waiting room had a window out to the bay, a little fun. I don't shop there often due to such poor quality food. I have gotten meat that is bad to the point where the smell when I cut open the pack makes me sick. I have gotten different food from the deli that is not edible due to being spoiled or just bad. We even got some puppy chow made in the store that was wet!! I have taken food back a couple times but don't ever take an exchange. People are generally nice but poor quality food! I started straight back as I could see meat cases. I encountered an employee and asked him where I would find frozen meals? He directed me to aisle 15...the other end of the store. To my joy there was a bench at the end of aisle 15!! I sat down for a rest before getting my items. More grocery stores should have benches!! Sometimes it can be a daunting task. Thank you!! Iguess Festival must bag your groceries as I saw several lanes w Self Bag signs, which I prefer. The cashier and I made two phone number attempts for a savings card. Eventually I was issued one. I find that endearing and it makes me feel more appreciated. The store is fairly large and full of enticing tourist traps like more cheese, candy, wine, sodas, beer and other items. But it's not done in a kitschy sense, more like carefully curated vignettes of interest. Do I fall for these? You betcha! But I mostly budget for all the beef jerky I can carry. Seriously. I have read all the 1, 2, and 3 star reviews and actually find them very funny and kind ot stupid. I found this to be the best grocery store I have ever seen/been in. No 1 I save gas at kwik trip/star. No. 2 this place has the one item that I will drive 100 miles for, great customer service. Every staff member I came in contact with was smiling and asking if there was anything they could help me find and yes there was, Sushi! I love sushi and they have lots of it. My pedometer said I walked over 2 miles covering the whole store. They have everything I wanted. They are a little high priced on some items for what you get, although I found the quality worth the price. Wal-Mart has a lot of the same items and if you read the labels like I do you will discover that the price per is no different than Festival Foods. At Wal Mart it's the hidden price you have to look for. At Festival Foods You don't have to look, it's right there in fromt of you. The best thing is that all the items I bought cost me $11.00 less than they would have at Wal Mart. Plus I saved money on gas at kwik trip.
