    Spicy noodles and sushi
    Mikie P.

Visiting Canada! Best spot for tourist to to come and eat, and just chill. There are lots of flavors in spicy seafood noodles, flavors explode in your mouth. Reminding you life is beautiful, the food here will make you feel young again and enjoy life to the fullest! There are no words that can describe the hospitality! Especially Jenny the manager and the owner Jay. Also props to all workers making sure everything is fine for me asking and smiling. A very local owned store. One of those hidden gems inside of a beautiful place called Canada! For tourists and locals! The best way to end an adventure is definitely here, it will feel like a movie! Come be the star and enjoy life with this amazing food!

Was starting at a hotel nearby and had a craving for sushi. Stopped in about 45 min before they closed and ordered the deluxe sashimi plate. Each cut of fish was extremely tasty and the service was great! I had to eat slow to enjoy every bite and before I knew it, I was the last person in the restaurant. On top of that the sushi chef gave me a few pieces of nigiri on the house!

What a delightful lunch we had at Sushi Langford! It was a quiet afternoon with a steady lunch crowd. Lunch was with Mum, Sis, Hubby and Mum's man. Since Mum uses a scooter, the greeter was very kind to give us a perfectly accessible table near the front of the house. We had a nice view out the window too looking at one of the few sunny days that week. We started the meal off with the famous Monkey Brains which truly lived up to their reputation. This is one recipe I must copy at home!! We loved it so much that we followed it up with another order of Monkey Brains. All in all, we had 6 or 7 different rolls which were varietal, tasty and fresh. Sis said the tea was delicious, but Hubby and I opted for the sake and wine. They have quite a good selection of sake, from cheap to expensive. A little something for whatever tickles your fancy. The restaurant is clean, there are nice washrooms and cute little booths along the side wall for the booth lovers. Top this off with good food, good service and handicap accessible, and Sushi Langford is a keeper for my family.

Four of went for a birthday dinner and we really enjoyed the privacy booths. Great for those wishing a bubble from other patrons. The food was slightly above average though the tempura had a glossy appearance and tasted slightly greasy while the karaaga chicken was dry and a bit overpriced for the amount served. The teriyaki rice was flavourful and a good value. Our Asian guest loved the TNT roll, the salmon sashimi and her beef udon. Somebody was hungry! Wasabi and ginger orations were generous. Service was friendly and efficient. The menu is rather long with many options so you can come back and try a variety of choices for many future outings, all the while supporting a local business in the western communities

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated - very modern without being pretentious, and quite clean. There are many seating choices too: Tables, large booths, and sushi bar seats so you can watch the sushi chefs work. My dining companion and I ordered some maki rolls, assorted fish tempura, and prawn and sweet potato tempura. It was all very delicious. The tempura was nice and scalding hot, crunchy without being hard and dry, and it was coated in panko -- it wasn't just batter. (I really get annoyed with sushi places that merely batter the tempura - it NEEDS panko for that delicious crunch!) It came with a wonderful, light, dipping sauce with a perfect amount of sweet and salty. The maki rolls were fresh and tasty and held together well. (nothing is more annoying than loosely wrapped maki) A good sized dollop of wasabi and pile of gari accompanied the nicely presented rolls. 3 maki rolls, with 2 large orders of tempura, and 2 green teas came to about $30. I think that is a pretty good price for all of that - we even had some left to take home. I will definitely be coming back here. It was one of the best sushi places I've been to in awhile and at a fair price. :)

Update (June 2017): Haven't visited for awhile and we were in the area so thought we'd stop in. We remembered it being impressive food, presentation and attentive service. We must have got a one-off this time or unfortunately this is how things are now. The restaurant has outgrown itself: it feels like it's now understaffed hurried service and small portions of food with next to nothing for presentation. One word to summarize our latest experience is "wait". Wait to be seated. Wait to order. Wait for refills. Wait for food. Wait... and then the disappointment with price to portion/quality of food. Bill too high for what you get... Arrived at about 1:30pm on a Friday. Restaurant was busy with a steady flow of customers coming and going for sit-down and takeout. We know it's a busy place because not only was parking a hassle (lot is always packed being next to McD's, and lets face it it's Langford and there's no planning dept out here...but I digress), but also there's few restaurant options in North Langford to sit down and enjoy a meal, especially sushi. Scored a booth which is much nicer than the tables. The two female servers were stretched thin, appearing to be the owner and a younger much less experienced local who looked like she didn't know what to do. I give it to the owner, she was trying her best but boy she needs proper helping hands. Placed our orders: 2 appetizers including the signature appy Monkey Brains and two special rolls. I know it's lunch-special time and bento boxes are a good deal but we were craving big rolls. Didn't get the tea I ordered. Then waited awhile for any food to show up. Finally we received the Monkey Brains haphazardly served in a bowl. No impressive presentation like we remembered with nil special sauce and next to no tempura flakes. The second appy took awhile also. Then the wait for waters to be topped up, but then only after a request. Then the even longer wait for our two rolls. By this time people have arrived, been served their bento boxes and are waiting for their bills. We get our two rolls an hour later. Looked rushed and smaller than we remember with no thought of presentation. The Butterfly Roll used to be served beautifully on a large plate with an artfully decorated sauce (see photos on here of what food used to look like). The rolls were so thin I could eat two at a time. Noticed the same subpar issue as food came out for other tables. Owner should be addressing this. A big disappointment. I was still hungry after my notso-big roll and at $23 per person I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. They need to address two things: service and the art of sushi making, because both are all about the fine details. Feels like a quantity over quality issue now (seems to be the case with anything to do with the stigmatized word of Langford... but I digress again). We will stick to south of the highway and My Name is Sushi or Maiko. Previous (outdated) review from 2016: Another great spot in Langford. Nice surprise - there's good sushi in Langford! Westshore is getting some decent restaurant options and this is one of them. Tucked away in North Langford off Millstream, its a nicely decorated tiny restaurant with friendly prompt service and good food. The lunch bento box specials are a great deal. Tempura light + crispy and not too greasy. Sushi is well done - not tiny nor rice packed like other places. Known for the Monkey Brains.

We had Saba and it was done correctly. Not too pricy even with a pint. Not too fancy but still a nice dinner spot.

Great place and great sushi. The Parksville and the caterpillar sushis are really good. Fast service and reasonably priced.
