Sushi pizza
Natalie T.

I am not sure what the fuss is all about this place . It's decently priced Japanese food. Service is pleasant but slow...you'll likely have to waive them down for your bill and ask for to go containers for any left overs you may have (you do it yourself). Kudos for their effort on presentation of their dishes and cleanliness of their restaurant. My favourite dish is the "monkey brain" which is a tempura battered whole avocado with pieces of spicy tuna, crab and sesame inside, sprinkled with crispy yam bits on top). Their sushi pizza was interesting (it's basically crispy rice in the shape of a pizza and they added sushi toppings). They smothered too much sauce on the bottom of the dish so the "pizza" became too soggy. The spider roll looks cool but in terms of taste the best part was the soft crab. I am not a fan of rolls that have too much of that artificial crab meat, the kind you find in a basic California roll. We ordered the dinner special which included a green salad, sunomono salad, dynamite roll, some sashimi, miso soup, and a sizzling hot plate of beef teriyaki on a bed of veggies. It was above average. If you're craving for basic Japanese food and don't want to spend a lot of money, this place fits the bill. I'll just wait until I'm back in Vancouver to fill my Japanese cravings.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is with this place. Afte reading all the positive reviews, I expected to be impressed with the food but left the restaurant disappointed and underwhelmed. I specifically chose this place to eat while visiting Victoria for a couple days with my fiance. We came here after visiting Buchart Gardens (must see!). The service was not friendly and barely existent. We came here around 2pm so the lunch rush was over but there was a table or two still occupied in the restaurant. We ordered a bento box and a caterpiller roll to share. The caterpiller roll had too much of wasabi taste which totally took over the entire roll - I couldn't even eat it all. The bento box came with a lacklustre salad, slice of orange, some sashimi, purple rice, california rolls and a few pieces of tempura. My favourite part of the whole box? The tempura. Perhaps if we tried other rolls we might've been impressed but the selection we chose was disappointing.

I've been here twice since I've discovered it! The food is amazing. I had seen a review that is was expensive but, compared to Ebizo I found it much cheap and better quality. The rolls are huge, they got everything from the basics to amazing creations. I think the most expensive roll on their menu is about $17.90 but, it's actually a full roll with in a full roll stuffed with fish. The inside is really nice, it's hard to believe it was once a Blockbuster. Service is great and everyone is super friendly. This is for sure my top sushi place, worth skipping downtown.

The service was really fast; we received our food within 10 minutes of ordering. Great menu with lots of options; I am on a restrictive diet and found it easy to find something to order. The food was awesome! We really enjoyed our dinner and dining experience.

TNT roll!

Best sushi in Victoria! Hands down! I missed Vancouver's sushi restaurants but not now! Presentation outstanding, innovative rolls and the very freshest ingredients. If you like it spicy I totally recommend the TNT roll. I have gone 3 times now taking friends with me, totally blown away!

The only thing they said was the food isn't ready and would be longer - they were not apologetic in any way (I had preordered the food more than 3 hours in advance), I had also asked for cutlery for 3 and was provided with 2. Other guests came into the restaurant too and were not greeted nor acknowledged. They were chatting amongst each other about how it's odd multiple servers came by and yet no one was able to assist them but the hostess who was nowhere to be found... I'll be back...but only because the food is excellent.

Interesting place highlighting sushi and wagyu beef! I stuck with sashimi this round. As the name…read moreimplies, they offer a wide variety of cuts from the fatty belly of fish. Aside from the standard otoro and chutoro from blue fin tuna, they also had toro cuts from hamachi and albacore. I had to try all the toro cuts and actually I landed on the chutoro being my preferred belly sashimi. The bite of the night however went to the uni sashimi which can always be hit or miss. It was probably some of the best and fresh tasting uni I have had! The hamachi sashimi was also a stand out and actually tasted better than the hamachi toro. Service was actually pretty great and their suggestions (which included the uni) were spot on. Definitely need to branch out to the wagyu next time!

We drove by without seeing the place the first time and had to double back. It's in a row of stores…read moreand doesn't stand out. They have a few tables and only one was occupied when I arrived and only a couple people got takeout while I was there. It's not a place you come to for the ambiance. However, the sushi rolls were excellent. My wife had numerous questions which were answered promptly and knowledgably. Our salads (Seaweed and Green) were both excellent. The green salad had a few different types of lettuce, baby spinach, cucumber, avacado, and a very tasty dressing. I was impressed because it wasn't the typical "sushi place" salad I'm used to. The spicy tuna roll was certainly spicy and fresh. The Rock & Roll was amazing. The seared, chopped scallops on top were a great addition to the cucumber, avocado, crab meat, and sauce. The Washington Roll was a little similar with cucumber, avocado, and crabmeat inside, but the fresh salmon on top was delicious. The Awesome Roll again was similar with the cucumber, avocado, and crabmeat inside, but cooked salmon on top, with crispy yam strands on top of that. Excellent presentation and taste. I was a little concerned about trying the place because it had five stars, but not many reviews, and none recent. I'm happy I tried it and recommend it to the locals and visitors as well. (I was visiting Victoria from the US.)

Cute little sushi spot with tasty food, reasonably priced. And very importantly, fresh and clean. This tiny little restaurant had no smell whatsoever and I could tell from the Chirashi don everything is very fresh.
