It was a cold rainy day so I wanted something to warm me up. Ghost Ramen seemed liked the place to go. It's a simple, bright and clean space. We walked in and it wasn't too busy. We were seated right away. I ended up ordering Gekikara Tonkotsu and it was good. Noodles were good. Pork belly was surprisingly and unpleasantly mushy though. They did provide more toppings than expected. Service was pleasant and attentive. Overall, it was a decent visit. Nothing too memorable but it did the job. read more

Holy moley. Hands down the BEST ramen I have had. Anywhere. Seriously. Being from Seattle we are used to ramen galore. Some are good but this was top notch. Visiting Victoria and was near Market Square. It was a cold, rainy day, so ramen sounded great. Waited about 25 min for a table for 5, not a huge place but had adequate seatings for smaller parties. We shared the deep fried gyoza- delicious and the fried chicken ( a bit rubbery)- they were small portions, about 5 pieces per appetizer, so we each had one piece. I decided on the pho- was delicious. My husband had the tan tan ramen- he loved it, spice level was great. My strawberry pearl cocktail was delicious. Service was great. Portions are smaller than I've seen from ramen restaurants and prices were a bit inflated. Overall though, delicious meal. read more

This is worth it! I didn't expect to find a decent ramen spot in Victoria. It's not quite authentic BUT it's still really good. By authentic, I mean the broth isn't as umami and fatty. But I still liked it because sometimes ramen can feel a bit too heavy. The broth was clean tasting and had a lot of flavor. The portion was excellent and the best part is that they load the ramen with a ton of fresh toppings that usually cost extra. I also ordered the sashimi bowl -- so fresh! Loved this Miso Tonkatsu Ramen! The broth was rich with flavor and was truly silky as their menu describes. Their kimchi is delish too! A must try. Oh man I had high, probably elevated, hopes for this place. Amazing vibes, great attentive staff, and a legit looking menu. Their noodles are not made in house, but still locally made, and they do offer three different varieties. I found their broth rich but a little lacking in depth. Their noodles were good but not necessarily chewy and perfect. I ordered the Gyoza and they were amazing with a very unique dipping sauce that was out of this world, I ordered the shio tonkatsu and it needed something, added some chilli oils and boom it was great. The place is bright and clean. Menus is via a QR code scan which is fine but I would suggest that they include pictures on their menu for the ramen challenged. The food was a disappointment. I got the Tonkotsu and I felt the flavor profile lacked umami. It was also too salty. The noodles were typical and the toppings, ramen egg and pork belly, were nicely done. However, for me, ramen is about the broth and noodles. They missed on the broth. The price is also on the high side. I was in Vancouver last week and ate Tonkotsu Ramen at a place at Metrotown. We initially tried to go elsewhere, but because of the wait, we decided to walk up here instead. The menu looked great and they had availability right away. A nice surprise was that they were on late night happy hour when we arrived! Discounted mini ramen, gyoza, and fried tofu? I won't say no! Everything was so tasty! We ordered food over the phone and picked it up. The hostess was super personable and welcoming. We interacted with a few people while getting our order and everybody was super nice! Our food was really good!! I had the Gekikara Karaage which was outstanding! Its a simple dish but made soooooo good! You can do add ons for their ramen dishes but I didn't think it needed anything else. I was totally full with the one dish. My husband got the Miso Tonkotsu plus the edamame, Karaage bao and gyoza. APPETIZERS: karaage heavy breading,needed mayo for flavor BROTH: pork bone broth lacked richness and flavor, it tasted very bland. Shoyu broth tasted like hot water with boullion cubes, but needed more cubes tbh NOODLES: not overcooked but not firm, quality wasnt great. SERVICE: passive, unequal, very slow for some tables and very active for others. 13 tables and 2 bar counter tops with 5 servers and 1 bar tender not all occupied. I'm stuck on the fence about this place. I wanted to love Ghost Ramen, I've been following their IG page for a few years now and live out over 1/2 hour away. The pros; The service was amazing, chicken karage-delicious ($16 for 4 pieces is extremely overpriced) restaurant absolutely spotless, almost too clean but that's a compliment. The cons: Their kimchi was unbelievably spicy to the point I couldn't eat it (and I LOVE my heat), the mor char siu bao was very very sweet, the sauce was overpowering and ruined the pork so we left it. The OG Miso a ramen was nothing to write home about which was the main reason for coming, I love Ramen and spend a fair amount of time in Korea. The ramen was very very salty, had waaayyyy to much sliced pickled ginger and didn't have any flavour or depth, not high stood out in the ramen and it was disappointing for $22/bowl. By the time I got home my tummy was so very bloated and swollen from the high amount of sodium used in the food, it was uncomfortable for the remainder of the night. What made the visit off was towards the end of my stay a younger man and women came, sat themselves at the front corner booth and the staff immediately perked up but in an awkward way. I was asked 4 times in less than 5 minutes about my meal (and I was already asked twice before this couple came inside the restaurant), and the staff seemed nervous around them. The younger man went into the back (found out later he was the owner) and made his table their own food. He walked around the restaurant with an air of arrogance, no smiling or being friendly, very matter of fact. He never engaged with the servers, never even said hello to anyone at all and there was only myself and one other table occupied. I can't explain into words how the atmosphere changed when they arrived, but it became stiff and uncomfortable from a patron's perspective. The entire meal was $59, add $10 tip and as much a I appreciated and loved the customer service and clean restaurant, I won't be back...the food didn't give me a "wow" factor and left much to be desired when it came to the ramen. For me to drive 1.5 hour round trip to come and eat dwtn isn't an issue, their are a plethora of amazing restaurants in Victoria, but the food has ti be worth the drive and Ghost Ramen didn't do it for me. read more

Ramen, just steps from the place we stayed when visiting Victoria, it was a dream come true the evening we arrived. Ramen's so different everywhere, it's hard to compare... I'm not sure how I feel about the "something different" I decided to try, the karaage chicken offering. It was super full of noodles, and to the regular portion I'd added two of my fav ramen ingredients, shiiitake mushrooms and marinated bamboo shoots. That tipped me over the "too much food" scale what with the three nice pieces of fried chicken and the marinated boiled egg. It was quite good, but I think I prefer a more traditional ramen broth. Vegetarian spouse had a yasai rniso amen and had to skip the egg (which he usually wants, for the protein) due to pork broth involvement in how they're made. The house sake was lovely, cold and crisp on a summer evening, and the side dish with roasted string beans were a standout dish. Spouse also quite liked the Seoul Train Bao. Service was pleasant and overall we found this meal a wam welcome to our quickie vacation. read more

Coupling ramen with cocktails is a weird concept, but Ghost Ramen is the best, and most authentic, ramen in Victoria. A sister business to Nikkei Ramen in Courtenay. The prices are a tad steep, but this is Victoria. One word of advice to the chef: your soup is not hot enough! What is it with Victoria? Everything comes out lukewarm. A good bowl of ramen should be piping hot and if people don't like it that way (the Japanese say they've got a cat's tongue) then they can bloody well wait for it to cool down. But no amount of waiting is going to heat up a cold bowl of soup. read more
