We happen to walk by Foo earlier this week and my son looked up the reviews. He saw the menu, saw the great reviews and said we should go here before we leave Victoria. It's a casual dining spot without table service. You order at the counter and they call your name when your order is ready. We asked the friendly cashier what she recommended and went with one of her recs - the caramel chicken. It was delicious - chicken was a bit sweet and a bit spicy, cooked perfectly! Not dry so may it was thigh meat? It was served over rice. So good! Get this! The curried noodle stir fry was delicious too! Shanghai noodles with veggies, shrimp and BBQ pork. Had toasted almonds which gave it a nice crunch! Get this too! The albacore tuna bowl was still good but likely our least favorite entree. It had tuna poke, big ribbons of cucumbers, pickled rec onions and jalapeños with rice. It needed something else - shredded carrots, edamame, corn? Oh yeah, they were so nice when we ordered and added us if we had any good allergies. So thoughtful when they ask patrons about that! Highly recommend Foo!

Food: The saag paneer dumplings are something I am almost mad that I tried as now I will be craving them all the time but will not be able to travel six hours to get them. They are crisp and melty all at once and come with a delicious fry bread to sop up the sauce. The kung pao tofu was also good - tofu perfectly fried, good amount of veggies. Service: a walk up counter that seems to do a ton of takeout. We went on a Saturday night and got our food within 15 minutes of ordering. Service was friendly and fast. Ambiance: it's a walk-up shop with a small patio area to eat. There were a lot of people when we were there so we hovered to get a table and had people hovering when we left. Sometimes you don't have time for a sit down meal and want good food - this was that time.

Looking in ~ attractive divey joint for a late nite bite. Inside seating is a window high top long table meant for single diners, not good for groups. Fusion Foo ~ some proper flavor though it is more on the fusion side. The to-go box was 80% rice. Rip. Potstickers were over fried almost cookie like. Service ~ rushed tone over the phone, not smiley in person.

This spot is a hidden gem! We got the stir fried vegetables, togarashi tots, tingling noodles with tofu, and red curry with tofu. We were concerned about the red curry being too spicy but it was fairly mild with a delicious coconut milk flavor coming through. The tingling noodles were very flavorful and the addition of the stir fry vegetables complemented the dish nicely. The togarashi tots are definitely worth getting. They are crispy on the outside, warm and soft in the middle, and very flavorful. The menu description doesn't begin to do them justice.

For dinner, we opted to eat at Foo Asian Street Food, and it was fantastic! Great ambiance and atmosphere. You can see the chefs cooking up a storm. We ordered the Saag Paneer, which comes with fry bread. The Steamed rice and a medley of vegetables make up the Tofu Kung Pao dish. Both meals were flavorful, excellent, and well-prepared! They have a terrific cuisine. I adore their concept! The host provided excellent and welcoming service as well. I'm grateful. Highly recommend this hidden gem! We'll be back.

I am so happy I got to try Foo! It was already on my radar from my first trip to Victoria, but this time it was on the list. I ordered the Kung Pao Tofu - this one has a spicy kick to it, but boy was it great. The tofu was coated and slightly crispy but covered in spicy sauce, I also loved the broccoli in it as well. My partner ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken and had no complaints. The Crab and Corn Hushpuppies with wasabi sauce was everything, crunchy on the outside and bready goodness on the inside. Portions were pretty decent, in fact I couldn't even finish my Kung Pao Tofu. The location is super walking friendly and there's a small patio outside with distanced seating available.

Such an awesome little restaurant if you're looking for some Asian street food! This was exactly what we needed after a day of traveling. Such unique flavors and a nice little patio to sit out on and watch the world go by. They also service local craft beers and ciders which I loved!

The gluten free caramel chicken was amazing! The flavor was wonderful and the chicken had a perfect crispiness to it. I never would've guessed it was GF.

Asian fusion in a storefront with a food truck feel. I aired this restaurant while vacationing with the family. The place was not very conducive to a party of five dining in, they were actually a little rude about it, but we all made it work. The food was good and the portions were ample. Our son and DiL ate a few meals here in the short time we were visiting, but once was enough for me. That is not to say I would not go back, just that there are so many good food options in Victoria that I wanted to venture out a little more. We sat at the bar counter overlooking the kitchen. The kitchen staff were amazing. A very well orchestrated production of every plate. If you are planning to do take away this is your place. Dine in...a little rough but doable.

Foo offers a unique menu with interesting options. There were so many dishes we considered like the Sagg Panner, Kung Pao Tofu and the Sweet + Sour Pork Belly. We were on a food crawl so we chose one dish, Caramel Chicken, to share. With COVID-19 ongoing, take-out was the only option. For the price, I thought the cute little box was a little too little. Once we started in, however, we found it was a good size serving and the food was fresh, sweet, tangy and well-balance. Right down to the rice, it was all really good. Certainly worth a revisit.

Say yes to the Sweet & Sour Pork Belly, you won't regret it! I got it to go one night and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was. It's definitely Asian fusion - don't expect any traditional flavors here - but I've never had Asian fusion like this before. As other reviews mentioned, the portion size isn't large, especially for the price ($15), but I thought they were quite generous with the amount pork belly. The skin was crispy and it wasn't too fatty, so I didn't feel that guilty inhaling the whole thing. I would have loved to see just a little more green beans and rice though, but it was enough. It was on the saltier side for me although admittedly I have a fairly light palate.

The ground pork curry was so good! This isn't a fancy place but very tasty if you need something quick and fresh.

We are big fans of traditional fare, but the Block is a place we are so glad we experienced and will certainly return utilizing the knowledge we garnered during our first experience. A big thank you to for helping us through picking one price fixe January exploration of your local restaurants and filling it with other ala carte additions. As we often do we ordered far too much food, wanting to explore everything off a menu that is far reaching. Not sure if our additions worked with the price fixe menu, but we sure enjoyed checking everything out. The interior is interesting with the addition of structural steel in the space to keep this heritage building (I think) standing tall for a few generations. We sure hope it's still here for a long while and will most likely come again the next time we are in Victoria. That is saying a lot as there are a wide range of restaurants in the neighbourhood, but you do want to check the Block out!

Iffy service, pretty solid food…read more My family and I weren't feeling any of the nearby restaurants at our hotel. Then we decided to visit the small Chinatown in the Victoria area. To make our 3-hour visit there worth it, we wanted to have dinner here, and I don't regret finding this place; it was awesome eating here! The inside is mildly bright with many tables for seating but it also feels oddly quiet inside given the number of people inside (it was halfway to a full house). You'll also see some wall decorations and figures at the front. Service here was pretty slow; it took 15 minutes for my mom and sis's dishes to come out, and nearly 25 minutes for the first portion of my dish. Sometimes my server was pretty busy to take some of my requests like getting a spoon or the check. As for my food, I got the traditional Crossing the Bridge rice noodles, with the standout items being the Yunnan pork and raw pork for me. My ingredients for this dish came out in 25 min, with the soup and coming out 10 minutes later and the noodles following a couple minutes after that. With the way everything but the noodles were being brought out, I was worried the soup would start getting cold by the time I threw everything else into the soup. Looking past all of that, the whole thing was actually delicious! Soup wasn't sour and instead felt very homely, and the amount of ingredients was perfect. The soup wasn't in any sort of stone pot to keep it really hot, but everything ended up being fully cooked before i started eating. Others things to mention: - We got two orders of wonton soup. These don't include noodles, and the wontons looked pretty bland even though they're actually full of taste. - My mom's zhajiang noodles came in soup, which is definitely a first since I usually see it without. - Portions in general are quite small though they aren't as expensive when looking between CAD and USD. I'll mentally add this place to my list of places to revisit whenever I'm back in Victoria!
