What a fun night. Food top notch, excellent service, fun vibe! My Octopus appetizer, Greek Salad and Roasted Lamb Shank Kleftiko were all great. We all shared and loved the Saganaki Flambé - great presentation. All enjoyed their meals. Highly recommend.
I can't rate the food, but for the price value and quality of the Tirimisu, it's just average. I ordered it to-go because I wanted to eat it in my hotel room right next door to the Restaurant. I was surprised to find the size was extremely modest considering how much I paid. I was expecting twice the size to be honest. it was just okay. It's a toss up whether I'd try the food here or not but definitely 100% would pass on the Tirimisu. I don't know why I saw this mentioned in so many reviews. Maybe it's because I ordered it to-go? No idea.
Superb Greek cuisine in Victoria, across from the Doubletree and Marriott hotels. We stopped by for dinner and they accommodated us even though we didn't have reservations. Here are some of the highlights of our visit. Service: I usually start by describing the meal, but the service from Sarah and her colleagues was so exceptional it must be mentioned first. From giving us recommendations, to warm and friendly conversation, to efficient service - everything was top notch. Sarah swapped out my flat beer for a cocktail with no fuss, and one of her colleagues found and returned our teens jacket - we saw her grab it and run for the door even as our daughter was heading back in to retrieve it! Food: excellent. We tried the Dolma (superb), the calamari (some of the best we've ever had), the saganaki cheese flambé (lighting food on fire is an essential Greek dining experience!) and the pita and three dips platter (olive tapenade, tzatziki, and roasted red pepper feta). Drinks: my wife and I enjoyed our Rosemary Collins' cocktails and our daughters liked their mocktails. Dessert: also very good. We ordered the Chocolate mousse and Ekmek (they were out of the Bougatsa) and polished them both off! Ambience: lovely. We sat in the small bright room overlooking the street - Sarah turned on the ceiling-installed space heater for us so we were comfortable. Value: good. We paid about $150 before tax and tip. Verdict: highly recommended. Enjoy your visit!
The service was very nice and while it did take time for things to arrive, that just helps you appreciate the effort. Ryan was a great waiter throughout our meal. The restaurant was busy and our wait was only 5-10 min at 7 pm on a Saturday. The candles and colors were beautiful and very calming for a bustling restaurant. All the reviews were excited about the calamari but it was def not tender, a bit too salty, and I had multiple dry pieces that seemed like pieces of soft shell were attached (never experienced with calamari before). Made me wish I had the moussaka instead. I loved the potatoes and tzatziki sauce and appreciate that most things didn't rely heavily on salt for flavor. The chicken souvlaki was tender and flavorful. The Ekmek is what transformed this from a 3 to 4 star review. Such a unique and inspiring dessert if you love the honey cinnamon flavor of baklava but want the texture of tiramisu.
They have the friendliest staff in a clean and bright dinning room. The service was outstanding from many folks who waited on us. I think if you look up "fork tender" in the dictionary they would have a picture of Ithaka's braised lamb shank. And don't get me going on the Avgolemono as it was absolutely the best I have ever had smooth and creamy with a touch of lemon and tender chicken. If you like to eat comfort food this is your place.
Craving Greek food, which happens often with us, we were happy to find this restaurant within a five minute walk of our hotel. Mostly very positive reviews on here, with a few not so glowing, we felt that good outweighed the not so good. We are glad we made the choice for so many reasons. There was a Birthday party happening up in the elevated area so there was live music and some dancing going on which only added to our experience. The decor is definitely Greek in nature but understated, no hanging plants here thankfully. The service was excellent, with our waiter being exceptional, knowledgeable and obviously a veteran. The entire place was very clean, with the washrooms exactly as you want. The dancing once the tables were cleared made us feel as if we were in Greece without the broken plates. The food itself was fantastic, with every part of the meal incredibly well prepared, cooked to perfection, and wonderfully presented. Everything else could have been average and the food would have elevated our experience to, we have to come back!
Everything has to be relative for touristy Victoria, so although far from being the best Mediterranean restaurant possible, this place offers a decent sit down meal, especially after currency conversion. The calamari was some of the best and crunchiest I've had to date, which could've been 5 stars alone. The chicken souvlaki was disappointingly small and dry IMO. The accompanying rice pilaf pairs well enough, but doesn't stand out alone. Same for the lemon potatoes/mixed veggies without that traditional strong lemon flavor. The baklava was good for a fix, but was just too dense and sweet after a while. Service was courteous from calling in to check wait times/ making a reservation (highly encouraged) to dining in. Note the acoustics inside are terrible; the noise volume is magnified with echoing voices so it's definitely not the most calming for a young family or worth it as a date night.
The food, drinks, ambiance and service at Ithaka was excellent. I started with a red wine flight, my daughter had an ouzo fizzy lemonade cocktail, and my wife and other daughter had mocktails. The cocktail was tasty with a citrusy sweet flavor against the anise of the ouzo. Our appetizers included saganaki flambé and avgolemono soup. The table side presentation of the saganaki was spectacular with the flame of the flambé rising up with an enthusiastic exclamation of "OPA!" shouted by the servers. The saganaki was deliciously cheesy with a hint of tanginess. The soup was spot on. We ordered the Greek platter which included moussaka, dolmades, roasted lamb, chicken souvlaki, spanakopita, kalamari, rice, toasted potatoes, roasted veggies, and a Greek salad. We were blown away by how delicious everything in the platter was. The kalamari was light and crispy with a nice tzatziki sauce. The Greek salad was hearty and dressed perfectly. The spanakopita was triangularly shaped with a delightful flaky crust. The dolmades was the best I've ever had. The rice filling was nicely wrapped in tasty grape leaves. The house special roasted lamb shank was exceptionally tender and flavorful. It was served with au jus. The moussaka was substantial in size with layers of zucchini, eggplant, potatoes cooked in meat sauce and topped with bechamel sauce. The chicken souvlaki was perfectly grilled and served on a bed of rice. We finished our meal with a thick and yummy portion tiramisu shared by all. Who knew our Greek dinner would turn out to be the best meal of our vacation!
First time to try this place and we were not disappointed! Warm and welcoming ambience with ample seating. Our server was friendly and had a wonderful sense of humor. Food took awhile to be served, but it was definitely worth the wait. We shared appetizers - Kalamari (served hot, nice crunch and flavor); Grilled Octopus and Santorini Fava (charbroiled to perfection) and Saganaki Flambé (Sheep cheese, seared and flambéed tableside). For main dishes, we had the Roast Lamb Shank (house specialty) - very tender served with lots of vegetables and potatoes. The Pork Soulaki was also tender and flavorful, served with vegetables, lemon roasted potatoes and rice pilaf. Service was superb and food was amazing. Will definitely be back!
The interior has an airy and warm feel. Service is friendly. It took awhile for the food to arrive at the table and menu items are on the pricier side. Ordered the following speciality entrees that include rice pilaf, lemon roasted potatoes, and seasonal vegetables: Roasted lamb shank - fork tender, not very flavorful Greek combo - Greek pork ribs were dry, chicken souvlaki were flavorful and tasty The rice pilaf, lemon roasted potatoes, and vegetables were delicious. If I were to go back, I would order the chicken souvlaki again.
Lovely place , lovely service , lovely ambiance! We did make a reservation to avoid any surprises. But they do have a big place. Loved our orders - zorba dinner, lamb shank, pita wrap - gyro, cocktails and the dessert. We stayed close to this place and hence didn't worry about parking. Definitely a must visit in my words.

Wonderful food and excellent service in a very charming Mykonos reminiscent Greek restaurant in downtown Victoria BC. Ithaka was located directly across the street from our hotel. The outside has a huge windmill that looks very much like the windmills on the hill in Mykonos! The white and azure blue exterior and the beautiful floral decor and Greek Knick knacks inside are so warm and inviting. It didn't matter that it was cold and rainy in Victoria that day. Inside you were transported to sunny Santorini or Mykonos. The servers were friendly, helpful with menu descriptions, and respectfully attentive. We were there near closing but no one made us feel rushed or overstaying our welcome. The food was authentic and delicious! We enjoyed the spanakopita. I had the avgolemono soup (instead of fries) with my gyro and my partner had the Greek ribs. For dessert, we had the Ekmek which was a tradional Greek custard. It was amazing. We'll definitely return to this place the next time we are in Victoria! read more

Great food and atmosphere. We arrived without a reservation but they seated us right away. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner. Never felt rushed so they could flip the table. Appetizers to dessert were excellent. read more

This is a great Greek restaurant! We really enjoyed our entrees. We entered the restaurant and was greeted with beautiful friendly staff Love it! Our waiter was very sweet, friendly and attentive. Great service My husband and I are visiting our daughter who lives in Victoria We are from Southern California, USA. I had the rack of lamb and it was cooked to perfection for my liking (medium rare). Our daughter had the chicken souvlaki and she also enjoyed it. My husband went light and had the Greek salad, it was so fresh and delicious. Our server was very friendly and attentive His name is Sucre. Thank you Dimitri for moving us to your section for some amazing Greek food. It was a very cold and windy day and our hotel was directly across from this restaurant that you can't miss because it looks like a structure they've relocated straight from Santorini lol! Windmill and all... Family owned and operated the food is made fresh and delicious straight from the kitchen. Definitely come and visit this happy Greek restaurant for some great food and ambiance. Someone smashed the dishes in the back and we all got up and clapped. Ropa!!!!!!! read more
This restaurant was across the hotel. We stayed at Victoria over the Thanksgiving holiday. The building as what you would think a Greek restaurant would look like it's white with blue trim, and a giant Greek windmill, like he would see on the island of Mykonos. Normally, you would need a reservation for this place, but they found us a spot in the lounge for us.The wait staff was nice and accommodating. We ordered entrées and a drink. My husband ordered a lamb shank, and I ordered the shrimp, chicken and pork souvlaki. My husband indicated that the lamb shank was quite fatty. However, it did have a good taste to it. My chicken and pork souvlaki tasted really good, and it was tender. The seasoning was spot on.The reason why I was giving only three star is because the shrimp tasted a bit fishy. The sides on both dishes came with braised carrots and zucchini along with lemon herb potatoes. The vegetables were tender and had a good flavor. It took approximately 10 minutes for us to get our meal, which was very quick. The restaurant was busy but the waitress was attentive. I would recommend the restaurant, maybe stick with the lamb, chicken and pork. read more

One of the best places we ate at in Victoria! The food was so good. It was pretty slammed and the food came out a little slow. However our server was fantastic! Very friendly and engaging. The Greek salad and soup were AMAZING!! We could have eaten an entire meal with just those. The soup is flavorful and lemony. The Chicken souvlaki was so good. It was really had amazing flavor and we enjoyed every dish we got. Highly recommend going! Also I would suggest reservations. read more

Great time celebrating our friends 55th anniversary last night. They had a special table for us and service was excellent throughout the evening! The Empress Gin martinis were delicious! Had the calamari and it was loved by all of us. The salads were excellent, especially the Greek salad. Dressing was quite yummy. As for entrees, the ribs and Moussaka were the biggest hits. Lamb shanks were very good but just a bit overcooked. All in all, pretty much a perfect dining experience! Highly recommend this restaurant!!!! read more

I give this place 3.5 stars based on my small plates. I rate it 5/5 on service, Ryan was so great. He had great recommendations and listened to my needs. I wasn't too hungry, but i just wanted to sample some staples. I got the chicken lemon orzo soup, the calamari, and the hummus and pita. I also got the white wine flight. I loved all of them, the first one (Sauvignon blanc one) was my least favorite. The orzo in my soup was so big, it threw me off but it was great flavor!! The calamari was great! The hummus was so garlicky but it was good. Just a different texture than most hummus. Overall, i would eat here again!! read more
