Steak sauce and salad dressing just as good if not better than Japanese Village. Great sushi

Yum!!!! Such a Langford favorite of mine -- I highly recommend Akemi for takeout or delivery (Doordash). Support small businesses!! The rolls are delicious, but the menu overall is quite diverse. Akemi offers a mix of Japanese cuisine. Tempura, udon, sushi and sashimi, teriyaki, etc. I've only tried the sushi rolls, and here are a few of my recommendations: - Mexico Roll - Toro Tataki Roll - Negitoro It can get busy, so call ahead if you're hoping to eat during prime hours. Pricing is fair, parking is convenient. They do have health and safety protocols in place, in the age of COVID-19. Will be back for takeout again and again very soon! read more

I found the decor a bit dark and drab but the food was ok. Ordered the Chicken Katsu Bento box. It's the smallest Bento box I've seen. It was just the chicken and rice, a bit of pale salad and an orange slice. No soup included either. The portion of chicken was pretty decent though. I did see them bringing out a sushi boat to a table as I was walking out and I should've taken a picture because it was really impressive. Staff were very nice and the food came out fast. read more

Went here today gave them one last chance ! It was horrible it's been bad but never this bad . Bones in my sashimi of which I got 4 tiny slices of tuna and 4 tiny slices of salmon for $12.00 dynamite roll both ends of the roll had a deep friend tail of the prawn shell only no meat my steak sauce on my rice had a layer of frozen sauce in it . They charged $2.00 for literally one tea spoon of spicy mayo and 3.19 for the small bowl of rice and $1.79 for the steak sauce on top of it LOL! The Bento box chicken was pretty much cat food That that being said if you like paying 20% more than all the other sushi restaurants and getting 1/2 quality and 1/2 the quantity this is your kind of place also you will love how quiet it is probably because I've never seen more then 2 tables full in the restaurant. read more

Whenever I eat sushi or rolls, the rice texture, vinegar taste and freshness in the rice determines my ratings. We came for lunch, just when the restaurant opened. Got our sushi and rolls and the freshness was not there, it tasted like left over rice from the previous night. You would think the rice would be warm and fresh since we were the first customer of the day. read more

Order: - Vegetable tempura - Edamame - Mushroom Udon - Beef Soba - Salmon sashimi - 2 pieces of toro nigiri - 2 pieces of tamago nigiri - Rice + steak sauce Evaluation: - 1st off, awesome menu. Really liked the variety! Victoria + japanese food (or food in general in Victoria is kind of pricey, but it was a special day.) - Vegetable tempura: We devoured this. Man, it was soo good. The dipping sauce was pretty awesome. Kept it around to dip the rest of our food in! - Edamame: standard good - Mushroom udon: My Dad really liked it, I tasted the broth. It was seriously so yummy. - Beef soba: my mom, who barely eats anything usually, ate the whole thing! She really liked this as well. - Salmon sashimi: I'm not the biggest sashimi connoisseur but the salmon was really dark, very thin fat lines :) - Toro nigiri: really good! - Tamago nigiri: not the greatest, but still ok! - Steak sauce: I prefer the steak sauce at Sushi Harbour in Langford, but this was still yummy. I ordered special assorted sushi. thought they are like a party tray but just a box, the regular box that you take home. the assorted nigiris sushi tasted so old....not fresh at all.......im so disappointed on Friday evening and... its ridiciously expensive... $29 for 10 pcs unfresh assorted sushi....... 2nd time here. Expensive for what you get. I don't mind paying for good food and service. Friday night, only 2 tables occupied should have been a clue. $85 bill for Sushi boat for 2 and 2 drinks. They put quality into the decor however there is nothing authentic about their japanese food. Ordered sushi rolls and sashimi. It left us unsatisfied due to the quality and taste. Price is not worth it. Didn't feel the ingredients were fresh and unless you know what authentic japanese sushi and food is you could be easily fooled. read more

My husband and I decided to do take out sushi today! I called Akemi Sushi by mistake as my go to sushi place it Maiko sushi! Silly me, lol! I only realized it by walking in the wrong restaurant. Anyways we ended up finding this place, it's right beside Darcy's Pub. Place is huge with lots of seating. So here is what I thought of the food! No taste and pricey!! Spicy Tuna has cucumbers in it and it wasn't spicy at all. 20% more fish eggs on top of the roll. Which I find it gross! Salmon and Avacado Roll had saggy and limpy fish, wet Avacado! We ordered 2 orders of Shrinp Tempura's, tempuras are super oily and thin as the size of french fries! We paid about $36 for two rolls and two orders of tempuras! Great price! If you are reading this review, please don't waste your time, money and taste buds. You can drive for couple more minutes and go to Maiko Sushi. They have it all wrong, fancy place with crappy food. My husband and I had a quick lunch here. I loved the light crispy prawn tempura. I ordered sesame sauce with it. I dipped the tempera in this sauce. It was creamy and delicious! The green tea was smooth and fresh. I loved the real crab sunomono salad. It was refreshing. The atmosphere was lovely. The servers were helpful and friendly.
