FOOD Salmon Sashimi ($17) 8 pieces of soft buttery Atlantic salmon - yum! Bento B ($20+$3 for salmon) Great option and perhaps best in town: healthy dose of cooked veggies atop a bed of rice, capped with your choice of teriyaki beef, chicken, or salmon (which is $3 more). All that comes with a couple of pieces of seasonal fruit (a slice of orange and large slice of cantaloupe today), a choice of seaweed salad or green salad (with Japanese dressing on the side) and 5 pieces of dynamite roll, and one of each of salmon and tuna nigiri along with a miso soup. The salmon was cooked well - still tender, soft and tasty - but I wish the piece was larger! California Roll ($8) Eight pieces of Cali roll done well! Futomaki Roll ($7 for 5 pieces) Oft overlooked, but quite a relish set - yum! === 3. SERVICE I called ahead to place the pickup order; service was pleasant, the food was prepared in less than the 20 mins quoted and service was great indoors also. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's not large inside the cozy restaurant just off of Oak bay Avenue; you could likely fit a group of 8 inside but will want to stick with a group of 2 or 4 most of the time. It's bright, clean, and pleasant with a good amount of space between tables for privacy and comfort. Wheelchairs and baby strollers would not have an issue here. Parking is interesting: primarily street oriented!

We usually go to Gozen, Yua or Toro in dwtn Victoria but decided to stop here for a quick bite since I had to grab groceries..... Stopped in @11:40am and I wish I hadn't... I ordered the Tempura Udon Soup and a Dynamite Roll... Tempura prawn(a) tasted old, chewy and almost like it was leftover from the day before. I had to ask for wasabi, napkins and water after my meal came, so that alone should tell you about the lack of service I was getting. Udon soup was a joke, the broth was disgusting and flavourless, the soup has 2 pieces of tiny fish cakes broccoli and 2 pieces of mini carrots and that was it... :( I didn't finish either items that I ordered and I can say this - there is no way I will be coming back.... For $30 it wasn't even close to being worth it. I'll happily spend $30 at Gozen or Yua Sushi and have yet to have a bad meal or service. Also for $30 you get a huge, fresh and delicious meal, not at Victoria Sushi, the food was garbage - sorry to be blunt.

FOOD Chicken Teriyaki Dinner ($22.90) Good value: chicken teriyaki with a decent amount of rice, salad with Japanese dressing, four pieces of tempura, miso soup and dynamite roll - should fill most appetites! The only letdown here was that our piece of chicken was a little dry - overcooked. Prawn Tempura ($12.90) Relatively light on the batter, and that's a good thing! Futo Maki ($10.90) Another dish done well! Salmon Sashimi ($15.90) Seven pieces of wild salmon await! === 3. SERVICE It worked well in English though those who speak Korean would be able to converse with the staff well enough. We did takeout this time and the service was quick and professional. === 4. There's not much for room to dine-in (just the space along the window), and by no means is this a fancy or even relaxing space. So I would suggest take out being the best option. I'm sure in warmer months, the walk down to the warf with your sushi would be wonderful for a picnic. Being new to this restaurant, I appreciated the large menu photos of the different rolls & the extra info the cashier provided on items I wasn't familiar with on the choices for the rolls. I grabbed 3 different rolls & all were of good size. I enjoyed them as my reward for finally getting out of the house after several days of snow. There's plenty of parking behind the restaurant & mini grocery store. even a ramp up to the deck area from the parking lot. However, you must be able to do some stairs to actually get into the restaurant. Overall, a decent choice for something quick to go.
