Chirashi bowl drew me here to sushi district. The bowl is small but delicious and was exactly what u was looking for. Uni, toro and a little caviar. Really good. The sushi is all very fresh and I chose the signature nigiri seasoned with red vinegar and no added sugar I think it really lets the fish shine. The sushjj in is superb at sushi district. The staff are very friendly and the decor inside is great. This is the best sushi I've had in a long time.
Small spot with quick and friendly service - this place is an absolute gem. There's a good variety of options on the menu, including some dishes I haven't really seen at other sushi restaurants. But the real draw for me is the nigiri/sashimi. They have a great selection of different fish to choose from, and everything I've tried was super fresh. What blows my mind is the pricing. For the quality, the prices are very reasonable compared to what you'd typically expect to pay, in Costa Mesa no less.
Saw this place on TikTok and jumped right over here from Torrance before shopping trip with my mama! EXCELLENT quality of sushi including its uni! Look at its color! The fish amount of generous and prices are more than fair! The place is clean and the server is so attentive! Will be back for more very soon! Come check this place out!
This place is a gem! We came on a thursday night and the place was packed by 6pm! The fish was absolute quality. Super fatty, melts in your mouth. They also have a vast selection of different fish that you may not find at other sushi joints. We enjoyed the different snappers, different jacks, and the classic bellies. Here, you order sushi by the 1 piece, but the prices are super fair, ranging from $2-higher end sushi. We also got the string beans tempura since they dont have a vegetable tempura. At first, I thought the fried batter was too light, but overtime, the light batter made it easy to down the entire dish. It was the perfect texture complement to the sushi. The servers were also super helpful and knowledgable and distinguished the different fish on the plate. The chefs were so kind to give us toro on the house and the flakey salt really paired well with the super fatty melt in your mouth tuna. The inside of the store was dark and moody, however, it seemed clean. The parking situation is fairly easy as it's in a plaza. Note that during busy hours, it may be hard to find a spot. I will definitely return for more sushi dates and recommend Sushi District to you!
I went here a couple months ago for my birthday (in June) and it was delicious! It still is delicious, but the menu and prices have changed. They no longer offer a lot of food options for people that don't eat fish. It used to be 50% off fish and 20% off rolls. It blew up on TikTok, so I am assuming they took those discounts away after that. There isn't really anything that sets this place apart from the surrounding sushi spots anymore. There are other places with good fish and nice interiors. This place is small and the interior is very exciting and plain.
Great looking food and very large portions!! However the taste was not something i'd rave about, the rice on the rolls was overwhelming and the fish was quite chewy. the service fell short in some moments, especially when there were two servers and two tables including us, it was hard to wave someone down. I very much enjoyed how filling it was for the price however!
This is truely a hidden gem. I hear they are like eats sushi but idk i like this place better. The price is amazing, and the quality i would say is amazing as an omakase. You can create your own omakase with 10-12 piece of great sushi for less than 40 dollars. They have so many variety of fish under $3 and the quality is great i cant say it enough. I usally order 24-25 piece of sushi and pay around $80 something but that price is so good for this! Service is amazing as well all the workers are nice! Must try if your in the area!!! I need to write this, the chef split the nigiri plate in half 5 fish top, 5 fish bottom how detail is that make it easier for us to! Just amazing
The kid asked for sushi, so we decided to try something new. Reviews looked promising, and I'm always a fan of a place I can grab a last minute reservation at. There were definitely some highs. The place itself is super cute, the veggie tempura was spot on, and we loved the "nuclear bomb" and the yaya roll was the favorite of the night. That's where the standouts and though and overall it was a bit hit and miss for us. Service was mid at best. A table that was seated after us was able to order and get their food before we were even given the chance to order, and we had to flag someone down multiple times just for the basics. For the other food we ordered, the golden dragon roll was just okay and honestly had way too many toppings. The three item bento box was a lot of food, but the teriyaki chicken and beef were not enjoyable and I wouldn't order them again. The spicy pork had good flavor, but was way too greasy and barely had any actual pork. Glad we tried it, but I don't see us coming back.
We had dinner here the other night. There is a small parking lot available. The restaurant itself is quite small and can fill up quickly. This is easily one of my favorite restaurants and sushi restaurants in the OC. The quality here is unbelievable. They get fresh fish deliveries 6 days a week. We let Chef Chris create whatever he wanted for us. It might be my go-to order on my next visit. We started with ceviche. They take nori and deep fry it into a chip. The shrimp, octopus and vegetables piled on top were not only generous but absolutely delicious. A great and refreshing way to start off the meal. Then came the nigiri. The Toro melted in our mouths. The sushi rice uses a red vinegar that makes you just want to enjoy the nigiri as is. Do not add any shoyu to it. That would be a huge injustice to the nigiri. The jumbo scallops, the A5 wagyu, the Saba, the red snapper, yes everything we got was unreal. The freshness and the flavors were incredible. We also got some rolls. The A5 wagyy roll was so good. The toro roll just reminded me that you can never have roo much toro. The blue crab roll was a rice-less roll and just stuffed with blue crab. One of the best sushi meals I have ever had. The prices are really reasonable for the quality that you get. The service was also fantastic. I cannot wait to go again.
Only got nigiris and a salmon skin handroll. Good size cuts and each was very fresh. My critique is that they have mainly one sauce/pairing for every nigiri which worked for the most part, but it was redundant. The sauce is a light salty vinegar. I felt the sauce did not go well with the tuna and fatty tuna, and overpowered the taste of some other fish that might've been better off without or with a different sauce/seasoning. I really like the quality of their fish but I got a little sick of that one flavor over and over. Will likely come again but get sauce on the side
Came here for lunch on a Friday and it wasn't too bad. This place is located in a corner plaza so parking can get tight and of course people can't drive for shit. The ambiance is a very cozy feel and the service is good. The cool part is seeing the chefs cook in front of you when they make the rolls. The matcha drink is trash don't get it. 0/5. The peach tea is lit. 5/5. The Wagyu roll was amazing. Lots of flavors and I almost got full off one roll. The Wagyu literally just melts in your mouth. 5/5. The geisha roll wasn't bad. I don't think I was a fan of the cream cheese. But overall it was good. 3.9/5. The coolest is seeing the nigiri all 50% off. We got a bunch. It was great. Fresh seafood too. 5/5. Def a spot to come check out

Don't pay $250 for omakase in OC. Found the same quality for 1/5 of the price in t Sushi District. Chef is truly from a high-end omakase background, so even the rice is different. Premium red vinegar seasoned, no need for soy sauce - perfectly balanced. Starts with Otoro x Uni x Caviar special, then Saba, Octopus, Buri non-stop. Finishes with Scallop x Uni x Caviar signature. Look at this shine? Save this if you're craving real omakase-level sushi.
We walked in for a to-go and ordered two salmon rolls and miso soup. This place is super cute inside and smaller. I really wanted to like this place more but the assembly of the sushi for the price wasn't equivalent. The sushi itself was fresh and all tasted great but the seaweed on the outside didn't wrap fully around so some of the rolls were coming apart. I was pretty bummed about that especially compared to the price. I would come back and give it another try just because it's in a location I like and I genuinely wanted to like this place! read more

100% false advertising. Can't believe they are charging $18 for this...no green onion & no smelt egg. When I called to complain they said, "we don't offer smelt egg on any of our rolls anymore". If you scroll through their online menu, however, it's photographed on almost every other roll. When it came to the scallions she said the chef must have forgot...Can't imagine the price was changed even though it's missing all of the toppings. Save your money! This place is a ripoff read more

This place is super popular and for a good reason! The waiters are quick on their feet and friendly, sometimes a little mix up does happen but they are quick to catch it. It seems like a tight spot but there is a lot of seating around the perimeter and the parking lot has a decent amount of spots. It's usually quite popular so expect a waitlist or line! Their menu has a lot of options that are well priced, around typical amount for a sushi store I got the spicy california and spicy tuna roll, my friend got once of the fancier rolls. It isn't eye rolling fresh or extremely flavored, but it taste good and not too oily or fake. Very light tasting with one of the best ratios of fish to rice I've seen in a cheap roll! The order was made very quickly and I really like how they packaged the individual components of sauces so that the fish wouldn't be oversaturared in flavor/the crunchy parts would get soggy from sauce. read more
Great service and great food! It was a little hole in the wall, but very cozy. Parking lot was super busy and we couldn't find a space, so we parked at chipotle a block away and walked. It was no biggie! We enjoyed the spicy garlic edamame, sexy roll, yellow tail roll, uni shooter, and crispy rice with spicy tuna--all of which were great! The edamame was spicier than we anticipated, but a great treat! There's only one bathroom, but from what we saw it's not too busy at this location so no worries. They have a sushi bar and booths to sit at. Would definitely recommend and we will return! read more

This is our 3 time here. They do not disappoint. The place is small and personal! We ordered the burrito roll and a couple of other ones. All where good. My husband & 10 year old specially liked Rhe salmon sashimi. The Minos soup could have been hotter but over all the food & service is very good as always. Thank you read more

If I could eat here every day, I would. Sushi is my favorite food, and after moving to Costa Mesa I've found myself frequenting Sushi District more than any other spot. The sushi is always fresh and a great value for what you're getting (I'm looking at you Chirashi Bowl!). The staff are attentive and make sure we have everything we need throughout our meal. The restaurant itself has a cute and cozy vibe which adds to the overall enjoyable experience. There is a huge variety of menu items, so there is something for everyone. Bonus: they have a happy hour (weekdays 2-6pm I think). If you're looking for high-quality sushi at a reasonable price, this place is definitely worth checking out. Discovered this gem last year and has been my go to spot since after. Douglas is the owner's name. I took many friends here. What a fun Saturday! The servers and chefs know how to sassy up this place. Free sake, Surprise mini dish etc etc..Lisa and I enjoyed their bento box - generous portion! So glad we came here... Douglas is the awesome owner! Sushi chefs are all entertaining Great customer service! My friends all dig this spot too. Highly recommend this place! read more
Can I give this place 10 stars !!!! I never would have expected this hole in the wall to be so amazing ! I've been coming to this place almost a year now and I can confidently say it's one of the best sushi places I've ever been to. The fish is so fresh, melts in your mouth, the ingredients are delicious, everything is just perfect. I take everyone I know here who visits out of town and they are blown away. One of the best places to get sushi. You can tell that they use quality fish. I absolutely loved their crispy rice with spicy tuna appetizer. Has a serious kick to it! It was so tasty. We also got the sushi burrito which was delicious! All the sauces that came with it were fantastic. We sat right next to the chefs which was cool. One thing I would like to note is they make the sushi SO fast. We ordered everything at once, and it all came out almost at the same time. So don't be like us and order slowly, one by one. Otherwise you'll be in and out so fast. Unless that's what you want then go for it. I was seriously impressed by the speed and presentation of the food. I can't wait to come back again. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Prices are just right. It's in a small strip mall so parking is a little crazy sometimes, especially in the evening. read more

10/10 this place is sooo good!! I found this page on Yelp when I went out to the OC and was not disappointed!! When we arrived we were seated right away and were brought waters out. Our main server we ordered with and the fun began! The sushi rolls and salmon were so fresh and delicious. The server was nice enough to answer all of our random questions about sake and what not! And the decor was cute, everything was clean ...it definitely was a fun vibe! All in all a great place to come check out ...ps the prices were pretty good as well! read more

First of all, I don't know why there aren't more people here... other than because it's late on a Tuesday...it's fabulous! 1. Ambiance: funky, cute, intimate. Great date spot. 2. Service: Friendly and super on top of it. Speedy! 3. Food: Yaaaas. From bento box to sushi, everything we had was great. Side note/ jalapeño dumplings were fun. Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese wrapped in a roll and fried. 4. Price/value: I can't believe we completely pigged out and still came in under 75 for 2 (with a drink and leftovers!) You can dine-in here. There is 6 feet of social distancing and plastic hanging as you enter your table. The service and food here is impeccable! My boyfriend and I tried this place upon looking up the yelp reviews. We have been back twice already within a two week timeframe. Young who was our waiter was very accommodating and provided outstanding customer service!!! He did not miss a beat. The ironic thing was I found a sushi roll named after me "sexy roll"!!! It was on point! While you're here enjoy a glass of beer as well. Shrimp tempura and seaweed salad was one of my favorites as well. This restaurant is a hidden gem and a great place to enjoy a meal with friends and love ones. The music selection is awesome as well. read more

While the service and the ambiance were up to par, the food fell short. It's nice to see decently priced sushi, but when the quality is noticeably inferior it's disappointing. The rolls were put together haphazardly, and the presentation didn't exhibit care. The positive reviews on this place are sadly misleading. read more
We placed an order for pick up last Sunday. This is the first time I had sushi during the last few months and I was not disappointed by Sushi District. Our take out order had all the condiments we needed for take out and all the sushi was packed up really well. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. read more

After calling a few sushi places, this small corner restaurant answered and confirmed they had outdoor seating - and I'm so, so grateful they did. I've heard about this place for a while and now I know why. They have such a large menu with so many different rolls, appetizers, and fish available for sushi. Our waiter was awesome - I didn't catch your name but whoever you were, guy with the glasses and bleached hair, we love you. So, onto the food - the oysters on the half shell blew my mind. I wasn't expecting amazing...but amazing, they were. Throw some Tabasco on there for some extra heat or suck them down as is; either way they were awesome. The tuna nachos were spicy so beware to all those out there not into heat. But it was a super filling appetizer with lots of crunchy wonton chips. We got the Kim Jong-un roll and the black flag roll (I think) and I have to say that both were good but the Kim roll stole the show. Not for the weak, it was deep fried with a slab of spicy tuna to dish out onto each piece - loved it. read more

By far my favorite place for sushi and great service ! The waiters we're great and very accommodating. The food was great. Took alittle long to get out but was good. The outdoor seating was nice with everything you could need right next to you. Sushi taste fresh, bento box was yummy, edamame was the best I've had yet and the green tea was my favorite. Flavor, flavor, flavor!!! read more
