    Sexy Bluefin Roll

Stopped by on a Friday night; they were packed and busy! I see this restaurant often passing through the area.Thought I finally give it a try! Lively and friendly atmosphere. I ended up ordering takeout instead. The wait was 30min for sushi. First impression-- the four rolls were nicely packaged. Overall, the sushi tasted fresh and tasty. They have a good amount of spicy rolls if you enjoy fiery flavors. Their sauces that accompanied the rolls were light, which is what I prefer over the deeper flavors of the dipping sauces. Rolls ordered: 1. Sexy Bluefin Tuna is my fav--I like the dipping sauce and the roll overall is unique. 2. Ya Ya Yellowtail- spicy on top of spicy on top of spicy haha ( I love it!). 3. Funky lemon salmon is light and citrusy light flavor. 4. Spicy tuna rainbow roll is a twist on regular rainbow roll, but the heat steps it up IMO. I'll definitely eat here again!

Came here to eat dinner on a weekend, waited for approximately 30 minutes before we were seated. Everything we ordered was good, especially the marinade on the Kura it was tasty! I loved it! Plenty of parking. Sushi chefs were so nice they gave us some complimentary sashimi!!!

I think I found our new favorite sushi spot in Costa Mesa. I found it when we were driving in the area and noted to come back. I went for a solo date night and spent about $20 on 4 pieces of sushi and a roll which was not bad at all and I left full. I then took my partner a month later for him to try it and he loved it. We got the black dragon roll which we loved and the golden tiger roll. They don't skimp on the fish and overall it was delicious and affordable. The staff is great too. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for yummy sushi!

Oh this place is great! A friend brought me here for my first time recently and I've been back so many times after to show it to more friends. They have a great deal on nigiri and it is such fresh delicious quality fish. The place is pretty small but they fit a lot of tables into that space. For how crowded it can get the service is pretty good. Sitting at the bar is the best seat in the house. Chefs are kind and really attentive. Think this is our regular spot now.

AMAZING food, ambiance, and even better service. A must-try in Costa Mesa. There are like 4-5 sushi spots in the area but this is hands down my favorite. If you go - definitely try the Toro!

We are a Family of 4 from San Diego. My son got hungry went to Sushi District. We ordered a lot see photos. The food was awesome. Price inexpensive. The Uni and ikura were the best tasting. The spicy Salmon roll was good too but the rice was falling apart. The chef gave us a complimentary sashimi (see photo) that was good too. We want to comeback there again to try other food on the menu and eat more Uni :)

I've come here twice and both times Jay was our server. He's friendly and attentive. When we needed extra ginger, he brought it quickly! The items are reasonably priced but stop by for their HH Tues-Sat 2-5:30pm for some cheaper appetizers and cut rolls! We enjoyed the CA roll, Spicy Salmon and Spicy Yellowtail rolls that were on HH and then added the Ave of Star Roll. I'll be back next time I'm in town!

The pork was incredibly tender and juicy on the inside with that perfect crispy, golden crust on the outside. You can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation, from the precise frying to how everything is plated and served. Honestly, it reminded me a lot of the katsu I had in Osaka--simple, focused, and done really well. No unnecessary extras, just high-quality ingredients executed properly. The sides and sauces complemented everything perfectly, and the whole meal felt balanced and satisfying without being too heavy. If you're into tonkatsu or just want something done right, this place is absolutely worth it. Definitely a 5-star experience for me.

I do wish they had some more non fried options, but the fried stuff, they do well. It comes with the side dishes traditional to Japanese meals, and the katsu is veeeeeery crispy crunchy. Their curry flavor is pretty flavorful too but not mindblowing or particularly memorable. The wagyu hamburg was tender, juicy, but definitely salty. The gravy was alright because it was just salt forward. I loved the salad with it because it cut through the salt, but it got drenched in the gravy because it was put on the same plate. The rice was perfect and the miso soup was good, and I particularly liked the sweet potatoes. I liked the okra side but it was a little slimy for me and a little awkward to put in one's mouth with the goo. But once it was in my mouth it was great LOL. The service was great; they filled up our waters extensively and got everything perfect. Quick, efficient, accurate service is always amazing! And the restaurant itself is very cutely decorated in the Japanese style and I was pretty impressed with how cute it was since the outside can seem like an unassuming strip mall. Yummy food!!!

Today we went there not knowing of the change. The food is now certainly "all you can eat" quality. We opted against the all you can eat limited menu, and ordered of the regular menu but the quality was terrible: 1. The toro nigri was chewy, very thinly cut, with a very small piece of rice. 2. We could not tell the difference between regular salmon and the salmon belly nigri they brought us. It looked and tasted exactly the same. Definitely not fatty salmon belly. 3. The yellow tail belly was chewy. 4. All the fish in their nigri sushi were thinly cut with very little rice. Definitely all you can eat amount of fish. 5. The rolls were small and for some reason all tasted the same with little flavor. If you like all you can eat sushi places which always offer low quality fish, you might like this place. Randomly decided to try this place with the wife last night…read more I remembered there being a spot called mogu mogu here prior and confirmed with the waitress that it's the same menu! Spicy miso ramen: 9/10 Actually one of the better ramens I've had lately. The broth is creamier and isn't overpowering with chicken/beef flavor. The chashu was nice and tender as well. I really liked that their noodles were al dente and not too soft Deluxe mazemen: 8/10 Taking my first bite, I was instantly greeted with an explosion of umami. There's a LOT of flavor packed in this bowl and the noodles used are actually a bit thicker which is right up my alley. My only drawback on this dish was that I wished it came with some sort of veggies to cut through all the flavor. They also give you a small serving of rice at the end for you to mix into the bottom which was a nice addition Kurobota sausage: 7.5/10 We've recently been on a kurobota craze. Don't get me wrong, these were great but we've only had them charred and grilled before so I was taken aback when I saw that these were only steamed. The interior is cozy and small with authentic Japanese decorations/setup. Kinda felt like we were eating in Kyoto or something, lol. The lady who served us was friendly and gave us good recommendations. I think she was handling the whole operation to be honest. To start it off, we ordered their specialty chicken karaage and it was very delicious. It has a nice crispy and crunchy texture. The batter on the chicken was good and once you bite it, the meat is juicy and tender. Doesn't really need dipping since it's so good. As for the Mazemen, we ordered the Deluxe and Veggie one, both is a 5/5. Very flavorful and it tastes just like ramen, but without the soup. The presentation of the dish looks like a work of art. Very picture pretty. I ate that shit up within ten minutes. After that they give you a scoop of rice so you can mix it up with the leftover sauce. Lots of umami for sure. Definitely will come back again to try the other flavors. People, trust me and come through!

You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

We started with the spicy tuna crispy rice and avocado crispy rice, both of which were incredible. Each dish had its own distinct flavor, with a really nice balance of acidity, sweetness, and savoriness. We also tried a range of different rolls, and every single one felt thoughtfully crafted and unique. The ambiance adds to the experience. The space is open, well-decorated, and has plenty of seating, making it great for a night out. It does get busy during dinner hours, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Parking is fairly convenient with a nearby structure, which is always a plus. Service was excellent as well. The staff was attentive, efficient, and made sure everything flowed smoothly throughout the meal. Drinks were another highlight. The Pretty in Pink and the Yuzu Drop were both a hit at our table. Overall, this is a great spot for a fun night out with high-quality sushi, great drinks, and an inviting atmosphere. Definitely a place I'd come back to.

Thankfully, they had a booster seat available to have our child sit on. We ordered a miso ramen, a spicy black garlic ramen and a gyoza for our appetizer. The person taking our order was patient with us as we ordered even as we were dealing with our toddler. Our requests were accommodated respectfully and to the best they could! Upon first glance, the gyoza looked good, like it was a family recipe and made from scratch! The spicy garlic ramen had thick, and a tasty looking broth and the portion sizes for the ramen looked like decent enough for the price. The taste for the gyoza was good, but the spicy black garlic ramen definitely stole the show! The broth was the perfect level of savory with a delicious blend of garlic that wasn't overpowering along with the pork broth. The chashu was incredibly tender and flavorful and the ramen was cooked perfectly - *chefs kiss*, amazing! Another reason that helped me decide on eating here was that there is a student discount for OCC students! Definitely cool that the local business is supporting local students!
