I come here often and I have never been disappointed. The sushi is always fresh and innovative. They always have several specials on their dry erase board. They always have great sake and other alcoholic beverages. I was just in picking up takeout and they had a young lady at the bar probably six years old and they were giving her a taste of miso soup and other things she could try to see what she might like! I love the appetizer called dynamite it is probably not good for my cholesterol though it is rich and the wishes. I love the Duke role, kamikaze roll, Dragon roll and rainbow roll. read more

I love Sushi Basho for a lot of different reasons. It's inexpensive, the food is great, the wait staff is always so friendly, and we never have to wait for a table. the parking lot is a little bit of a cluster at times but overall it's not that big of an issue if you know how to drive. I am a huge fan of the green salad with the soy ginger dressing that they have. The salad is nothing fancy but I really prefer it that way so you can taste the dressing, sometimes the lettuce is a little wet and causes the dressing to come off as watery. My favorite sushi rolls are easily the King Roll, it has crab and mango and is just all around a special roll that everyone should try. I'm a huge fan of the spicy tuna, philadelphia roll, and the alaskan roll. If you get anything at Sushi Basho you must get the Alaskan Roll!! It is amazing. I can not say enough about this restaurant! They have amazing sushi!! Vegetarian options are slim BUT there are options. Very fresh and tasty sashimi. I had the white tuna sashimi, udon soup, gyoza, and my boyfriend got the breaded pork with rice. Phenomenal!! I haven't made it in for the happy hour yet but I will be returning. Service is quick and my food always comes out the perfect temperature (sashimi/hot plates) and delicious! I was lead here while searching for sushi places in town that were AYCE. I'm new to the area and where I am from, AYCE sushi places are on every corner. I stopped by for lunch, and while disappointed to find out it didn't offer any kind of AYCE options, still decided to try it out for lunch. I picked a lunch special that came with three rolls, miso soup and a side salad. Miso soup and the salad came out first. The soup was hot and had lumps of tofu in it, but wasn't very savory. The salad was a normal iceberg lettuce based mix (the kind you could get bagged at the grocery store) and was tossed in a peanut based Asian sauce that was thin and watery. My rolls were smaller than the others I saw being made (a la carte options), but were good. I got a salmon skin, California roll, and another salmon-based roll. The rolls were nothing special, but were not bad in any sense - just average. For lunch and a drink, my bill came to around $15, which is not bad for a sushi lunch. read more

We used to love this place, but their most recent service means we won't be going back. We ordered online and showed up a little before they said our order would be ready (we ordered 45 minutes prior). After about 10 minutes, the host came back to ask for our name again. He admitted the order hadn't been given to the kitchen, and they were going to rush it. I watched the sushi kitchen send out order after order before starting ours. When we finally got our order it had been more than an hour since we ordered and 20 minutes since our order was supposed to be ready. When our order finally came up, they were extremely rude and barked our total at me. I was surprised, because from my time as a host and server, I would have at least apologized for the mix up. I asked if they were going to do anything because of the delay, and they said "we don't do that." Both of the hosts just walked away. Someone I assume was the manager came up to bark at me that people wait all the time, and nothing was wrong. My husband and I love this place. It's our little place we go for special occasions and romantic nights. I haven't had a roll I haven't loved. The wait staff is great and polite. The decor is simple and a little out of place, but they do have some interesting art on the walls but I go for the food and good service not the decor. Great service. The food was wonderful too. The server was great with our kiddos but even more exceptional was the family sitting a couple tables down who had a kiddo that was a bit noisy. He was probably 12-18mos old and the server was playing peekaboo and looking for ways to engage the kiddo kindly. I've been here several times and I can't think of anything to complain about. The food is great. Service is usually really good. I love when we get sat next to the aquarium. On a side note, the green tea is kind of weird, not at all what you're probably used to and the cups they serve it in get so hot you can't really pick them up. I love Sushi Basho. It's where my girlfriend and I ate for our first date, so it will always have a special place in my heart. I've been coming for years and always receive prompt, friendly service. Their rolls are almost always fantastic, and the lunch specials are killer for 2 rolls @ $9 or 3 rolls @ $11. The last time I went, I did have 1 issue: my unagi seemed to have a bone or something hard in it. I let me server know, and while they didn't try to offer me a comp, sake, or anything, I also understand that this can happen with unagi. All around, a great spot. Went here a Thursday night with out of town family and it did not disappoint. Sushi was fresh, beautiful and delicious. We also shared a seaweed salad that was yummy. My teenage son had just tried sushi the week prior and so this being his second official sushi dinner and he's hooked. Pretty good food but service was testing. When we walked in there they weren't very busy. We were stoked about all day happy hour drink and sushi deals. I think our mistake was going in there hungry?! We sat there staring at our giant platter of sushi sitting at the sushi counter across the room for legitimately 15 mins before someone walked it across the room to drop it off. We were drooling by then. Wine refill took forever. Then they got busy and we couldn't flag anyone down to take our desert order. I was really excited about tempura green tea ice cream. But sadly we ultimately had to walk to the bar flag someone down to ask for our check and pay. Even then it took a solid 5 mins. I don't think anyone would've noticed if we just skipped on the bill and walked out that's how neglected we were by the end. On our last visit we ate with a group of 6, our service was impeccable and the food came out quick. Love this place. Fresh and delicious. I've been going to Basho for a while and most every time has been great. Fresh, tasty, and one of the better sushi places in town. There was a small stint last year (late summer / early fall '09) when it wasn't up to par. Right now they have a couple of great chefs and the sushi seems really fresh. Living in the south part of town I don't think there is a better place right now. They have a great selection of rolls, traditional dishes, and friendly / gracious staff. The bottom line is it's not flashy but the food is good. It's one of my favorites on the south side of town. read more

Basho is really great sushi and although they used to sell sushi for a buck they've increased it to $1.50 it's still a descent deal for the quality of fish they sell. I want to let everyone know that the Groupon/living social deals are a rip off because if you use the deal the prices are twice as much as the happy hour prices (happy hour is all day everyday). So buying at the happy hour prices are cheaper than using the coupon. Just an FYI. No way to get out of there for less than$20 a person. read more

I live and work nearby but never stopped in because the front looks like a gas station. Inside is much nicer, but it looks like they cobbled together furnishings (I counted 4 styles of hanging lamps; carpet plus odd shiny black flooring; unappealing tables and chairs). Service was very friendly, lots of upselling, though. Miso soup was bland and I tasted of onion all night (presumably onion in the soup because we then ate only plain sushi). Fish was cut very small but the sushi rice itself was not overly large. Our bill was surprisingly low. We kept saying "This isn't bad...and so convenient" but I won't likely return. Spend the extra time and money to go to a real sushi restaurant. read more

My wife, son and I enjoyed a great meal at Sushi Basho. We were seated next to a large salt water fish tank with a number of colorful fish. We hoped the fish didn't mind us eating sushi. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night. There was a large birthday party at a neighboring table. Yet, our food was delivered with amazing speed! Our waiter was quite personable as were the servers. The sushi seemed fresh and the beef and chicken tempura was more than enough to eat. Very good, we'll go back some day read more

My husband and I called and made a reservation for dinner at 7:30 on a Friday Night. When we arrived, we told the man, who barely pretended to notice us, that we had a reservation. He then proceeded to ask if we wanted to sit at the bar, I told him no we made a reservation and would like a table. He the proceeded to shrug his shoulders and said "Oh well, you'll just have to wait then". After this, he proceeded to speak ill about us to his coworker (I know this because I could understand what he was saying) We obviously left and found somewhere more accommodating and less judgmental. These people should learn how to accommodate their guests when they make a mistake instead of bad mouthing them in front if the entire restaurant. We will never go back there. read more

This is by far my favorite sushi place! As many reviewers have noted, its not the fanciest place so if you want to pay for the decor, go to Sushi Den. I personally like to pay for the food I eat so I come here. The fish is always very fresh and the rolls are innovative (see below). The hot sake is 2 for 1 and they also have great cold and flavored sakes. And the prices simply cannot be beat! The service can be mixed but is usually good. My husband and I sit at the bar and chat with the great chefs there. They are talented and friendly. The waitresses are also friendly but occassionally can be slow. We were just there last night and here what we had: Salmon sushi - melted like butter in my mouth. Spicy tuna roll - don't know what they put in their spicy rolls but wow, I just can't get enough. Such great flavor! Spicy shrimp roll - see above! Vegetable roll - great combo of asparagus and avocado. Sweet potato roll - if you haven't tried this you have to! Tempura sweet potato in a roll. Delicious with a great crunch. We always get this one! For Dessert Sweatheart roll - light, refreshing, our favorite way to end a meal. This is a spicy crab rolled in cucumber. Absolutely wonderful! Bonus, if you are sitting at the bar, you get to watch the chefs cut a cucumber into one long strip - amazing and something I won't be trying at home. My husband and I love sushi and usually drive to Northeast Denver for it! we decided to try Sushi Basho because of the proximity. After ready the reviews on here, we decided it would probably be a great alternative to the drive. It was everything we expected! Price about the same at the one in Northeast, definetly the same about of selection, which is what we look for in a suhsi place. We will definetly return. Sushi rolls may seem on the smaller side, but they don't skimp on the fish. They don't use as much rice, which i like a lot! read more
