This place is a sushi gem. We stopped in after the craft fair at the Ken Caryl house as everyone was hungry and ready to eat. The parking was easy and close in. We were immediately welcomed in and seated in a comfortable booth. We all had water within two minutes. We place an appetizer order and a few minutes later, our sushi orders. We bordered half dozen different rolls as well as some kabob type meats. Each of the different rolls was incredible but the Tokyo roll really stole the show. For dessert, we all had mochi ice cream and we tasted all the flavors. My favorite was the strawberry and the vanilla. The building is clean and the tables etc are all in good repair. Even the restroom was clean. This restaurant, now known as Izumi Sushi, was great and all four of us really enjoyed our meal. Our server was efficient and light hearted. I was incredibly impressed by this restaurant. I live on the west coast and I have access to very high quality fish but I was so surprised by the quality of the fish that this restaurant served. I was not expecting a restaurant in Colorado to have such impeccable sushi. I ordered oysters that had been shipped in from the west coast which was served a secret wasabi sauce that changed my life. I will never eat dyed horseradish ever again. The oysters were so fresh, sweet, and succulent. I've never had such amazing oysters outside of the west coast. I also ordered hamachi, toro, and sake nigiri. Every piece of fish was incredibly fresh and buttery. It was so fresh that I could taste the sweet, fruity, and floral notes of the hamachi. The server was very kind and recommended several nigori sakes and allowed us to taste them before ordering a bottle which we really appreciated. Jake, the chef, was kind enough to come speak with us and was highly educated in the art of selecting the best fish shipped directly from Japan. We concluded the meal with a gorgeous, ripe pineapple topped with tajin. Next time I visit, I will definitely return to this restaurant. Highly recommend giving this place a visit! read more

For a family of 4, we get a bunch of rolls and if we're feeling flush, we'll get salmon, tuna and eel sushi pieces. This is my go-to restaurant for sushi when I am in the area. Their sushi is fresh, the service is great, and the price is right. They have a wide selection of Nigiri , Sashimi, and Rolls. Even if you don't like raw fish, you'll find something you will enjoy. I definitely recommend getting Oysters, Calamari, and/or Gyoza for starters when you come. Okinawa Sushi has been recommended to me over the years; and we finally stopped to check it out! First, their house Sauvignon Blanc at 2 for $6 was really delicious. I would actually try to buy a bottle! They had so many choices for sushi including a group of low carb options if you want delicious sushi without the rice. The low carb is wrapped in cucumber and is very fresh tasting! We also had the lovers roll, the rainbow roll, and spicy tuna and salmon. Service was excellent. Salmon was very fresh and there was a lot of it! Rainbow roll was very good! Okinawa roll was our least favorite and we probably wouldn't order it again. The maguro was melt in your mouth delicious! Yellowfin sashimi was very firm and dry, not sure if we would order again. Escolar we would not order here again at all. The taste was weird and had a strange texture to it. The tables were clean but the floor is a disaster. There was food everywhere and the floors are very slippery with visible grease/oil/grime. We would maybe be back. We ordered doordash from here and OH MAN! We did not expect it to be so good! I wish I took pictures beforehand but their portion size is pretty nice. The salmon sushi really got my attention. We ordered 8 pieces and it blew my tastebuds! The rice was well seasoned and the salmon itself just melted in my mouth. Miso soup is always a great choice too! Disappointing. Ordered negihamachi (yellowtail green onion roll) for takeout. Whoever put it together has no idea what to do with the ingredients. That you need to mince the yellowtail (not leave it in a block). That you stir in a proper amount of the chopped scallions (not just sprinkle some for color before rolling it. It's not that hard to learn. If I had been eating it in the restaurant, I would definitely have sent what he prepared back to the kitchen. Maybe, on second thought, he didn't think I could possibly know what negihamachi is supposed to be (which is reasonable, because how would he know I used to live in Tokyo?). She's been here during her visits and enjoyed the food here.We got seated in the enclosed patio area which was nice. They even had the area decorated! Everything was so good and fresh! There were some specialty rolls that I haven't had before. We ordered so much food that I honestly stopped taking pictures and remembering what the dishes were called. Fresh oysters were delish! And if you are planning to drink, Ladies, order the Lychee flavored sake!! Doesn't even taste like alcohol. I let my friend who doesn't drink take a sip, she even enjoyed it. "Taste like lychee juice." If you have room, definitely order the pineapple slice. Fruit is always a good idea after a meal, but this one has a yummy sprinkle of something on top, like a Mexican style food bowl. Great sushi for not being located near any water. Fish tasted fresher than a lot of other sushi places we've tried in Colorado. It is ala carte so it can add up quickly. But it was worth it.
