I was apparently not as fond of the food at this restaurant as other people have been. Let me first say that the service was extremely friendly and I liked it a lot, which makes me feel bad about what I'm about to say. Please note that I tried things that other people have mentioned in their reviews as things they liked. I had the crunchy tuna appetizer, which was essentially several golf ball sized lumps of rice deep fried, with a tiny amount of tuna and I think avocado on top. It probably should have been called the crunchy rice appetizer, and really was not, to me, worth $14. Next up was the Joker roll, which I believe is mentioned by more than one person as their favorite thing here. If you like pepper, it's the roll for you. I have never had such a peppery sushi roll in my life and I did not like it. My final roll was the mango roll. Now I know what mangoes are and I knew what I was getting, so I can't really blame the restaurant for the fact that I guess I've learned I'm not a big fan of sushi rolls with fruit on them. It was well made for what it was, just not my particular favorite. The miso soup was lovely. The restaurant was nice and clean and as I have said, the service was impeccable, friendly, really everything you would want. Which is all the more reason I was disappointed that the food did not ring a bell with me. If you go to this restaurant, I would suggest you avoid the things I've mentioned and perhaps try some others. You may have better luck than I did, and you will be served well in the process. read more

One of our local favorite sushi restaurants. (Now, they just need to get their alcohol license.) The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, and we were greeted immediately. We started with the Spicy Crispy Tuna - which is always fantastic. We ordered Yellowtail, Unagi, and Tako sashimi. For the rolls, Spicy Scallop Roll. Mango Roll, and our favorite - the Joker Roll. This is the only restaurant around locally that we can find that has shiso - an herb that we enjoy but seems harder to find unfortunately. read more

I love this casual sushi place! I have been here twice now. Their menu is very big and the service is really friendly and very nice! The quality of sushi is very good! Our favorites were Godzilla roll and Sandwich roll. We also enjoyed the Naruto roll, it was very refreshing! They also gave us 10% neighbor discount coupon which was very generous and considerate! In Colorado for the week back in Texas we have some great sushi spots and go on a weekly basis. Decided to give the Rocky Mountain state sushi a try, when I say this lightly. The service was great and given with love and care. I love the ambiance of the restaurante it reminds of a Ramon shop in my favorite anime. Very nostalgic and peaceful. I had the black dragon roll, my wife had the angel roll and we both agreed. The black dragon roll was the best sushi roll I have ever had in my life, no exaggeration. The presentation of the entire meal was amazing but I can tell it was made with love and authenticity. Can't wait to come back before we leave! read more

Finally tried Uni Sushi! It was surprisingly very good. I was impressed with the rolls. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. We ordered avocado rolls, spider rolls, dragon rolls, Naruto rolls, Godzilla rolls, tako, some fried beef rice. Service was great, fast and attentive. The only thing I would say is it could be a little cleaner (especially the floors). Food was an A+. I will definitely be back next time a sushi craving hits. read more

Updating my previous 5 Star review with more 5 Stars! Went there again on a Saturday night, for takeout, and again, it was excellent! Started off again with the Stafford Crunchy Spicy Tuna appetizer, an order of Edamame, the Black Dragon Roll-Excellent, a Godzilla Roll-Excellent and the Sweetheart Roll which was shaped like a !!! I've never seen a roll shaped like a before, but this is the spot that makes an Excellent Sandwich Roll shaped like a sandwich, so I expected nothing less! Again, everything was EXCELLENT & if I could give more stars, I would! Been here twice in about a month, and that means a lot for a Sushi place, it means consistency and that is key!!! I have so many great things to say! Cleanliness was excellent, from the tables to the restrooms, and even the baby changing area. The restaurant is kid friendly, with plenty of high chairs and booster seats. The menu has something for everyone, both hot plates like chicken teriyaki and katsu as well as sushi. The service was friendly and food came out nicely spaced out and a good temperature. Gyoza was excellent and tasted homemade, and my fave appetizer was the three color sweet potato tempura. The sushi was FRESH which is sometimes hard to find. Let's keep a great place like this in Highlands Ranch. Worth driving to and worth keeping around! read more

The salmon/avocado sushi was very fresh and moist. It was loaded with the salmon and avocado. The pork katsu was crisp and evenly cooked. The pork gyoza were perfectly cooked and with good flavor. Once we finally got our food, the rolls were ok but frankly it's pretty overpriced compared to most other comparable sushi in the area. My husband and I just got back from our first visit at Uni Sushi in Highlands Ranch, and really enjoyed it! Although, I wasn't crazy about the Joker Roll, I LOVED the spider roll! My husband really liked the Alaska roll, but wasn't a fan of the Naruto roll. The service was great while we were there and the place was hopping! We will definitely go back! Good sushi, good prices, great place! So happy this place opened! The gyoza are crisp to perfection. The salmon avocado roll melts in your mouth. The spicy tuna is the perfect level of spicy and not fishy AT all. Salmon roe are fresh and big. And udon noodles are so flavorful! And all are reasonably priced. Definitely recommend! read more
