There aren't too many Omakase places in LA so I'm glad I got to try Sushi Bar in Hermosa Beach when they are still in pop-up stage. They are inside Martha's now and do a 5:30 and 7:45 dinner service. The place only seats 12-13 people and while it's Omakase, they do have a framework to the 16 pieces of sushi that you will be presented with. There is also a dessert course to make it 17. It's all delicious and I tried my best with the names of each piece of sushi. The sake sampler is also REAL good and recommended. If you don't want the sampler but want sake with dinner, get the sparkling sake in the blue bottle. I can drink it like it's water... I was told that they have found a more permanent location in Hermosa Beach. Just a 9-iron away from Martha's so keep an eye out for the official announcement. Check out my pics

I was so excited to learn about this pop up omakase experience in the South Bay. While the reservation was tough to get, it was well worth the wait! 17 courses of the most delicious sushi creations with each course being surprisingly better than the last - my favorite dish quickly became my last bite - again and again ... I can't say enough about the amazing food and service. Thank you, chefs! I can't wait to join you again when you open your brick and mortar restaurant in the area!

Spirits are top shelf and signature cocktails are delicious but some are seasonal, ask the servers for recs. Not many late night HH's in the South Bay, this is THE spot! After 9 pm head to the bar top for their special menu with offerings of rolls, skewers, ramen, and other small bites! Their fish and meats always are packed with flavor and melt in your mouth. Their food and service is excellent overall, but their brunch menu is so unique you must try it! I get the fluffy Japanese Pancake every time, and when I bring new friends I order the Pop Tart for the table. There's something for everyone from the breakfast fried rice to sushi. The Matcha Tiramisu or Ube Ice Cream is the perfect end to any meal you have here!

Nice location close to the beach, plus plenty of things to do in the area. Started off with drinks, as one does with brunch. The best Mai Tai on the Island was an interesting take on a Mai Tai with a little mango added. Could have had a little more as it was hard to discern at times but still a tasty cocktail. Can't remember what the others ordered to drink, so my apologies, but they were also good. For food, we started with the Lobstah roll which was really nice, a good shift if lobster in each bite and crumbles of salt and vinegar chips on top for some crunch. Just something you wouldn't expect to see on the same plate but it worked. For entrees, we tried the egg crepe, breakfast sandwich and surfing that was like a dry ramen. The crepe was much different than your normal crepe, almost feeling like a quesadilla burrito combo, but was really good. The ramen, without the broth, was also very interesting and very good as well. The winner was the breakfast sandwich. A lot going on in it, and I'm typically not a sausage fan, but this was really tasty, no complaints from anyone at the table. Good location, quality cocktails and good brunch items, if you're in Hermosa Beach on a weekend, give Ryla a taste to meet your brunch needs

We went for the AYCE All You Can Eat Lunch Promotional Offer for $20. This is a review of the AYCE…read more2025 LUNCH. At first glance, it sounded intriguing. The menu did seem limited compared to the traditional AYCE Sushi dining model of peer restaurants like Ginza or Blue Fin locally in the South Bay, or So Cal's plethora of AYCE like Midori and Aburi to name a few great ones. So, the price is lower than their peers but not significantly when you factor in what you actually get and experience. I was told the AYCE lunch offer was ending. Maybe it was a test that either failed customers or failed the restaurants expectations. I'd not recommend it. I did and do like Fusion Sushi in general however. The AYCE was flawed by design because they divide their special AYCE to specific select items that qualify for what you cam choose from. Most other AYCE Japanese restaurants open up 90% of their standard menu without limitations for between $25-35 per person, so is actually better than this $20 offer. You order from List 1, then list 3, then from List 3 (Finally, The Sushi). The odd method is that they mandate customers order "all they can eat" once and only once, one time and no additional ordering. They disclaim, any uneaten food has to be paid for on top of the AYCE price. It seemed at face value to be counterintuitive to avoiding waste. I suspect that strategy has them (the business owners) expecting customers to over-order on a $20 deal and leaving paying double or triple the anticipated bill amount. It creates a really stressful dining experience. It was very disappointing to have to commit to one series of ordering from 3 categories and close out. I prefer to order as I go along and not feel pressured, rushed or limited. So, the least appealing factor is that most of their sushi was comprised of belly filling appetites suppressing cut rolls filled with the California Roll faux crab seafood blend, rice, avocado and cucumbers and very little fish. It was kind of lackluster compared to what Fusion Sushi is capable of serving and what their peer AYCE sushi restaurants serve (many offer sashimi carpaccio and high quality sushi). So, that was probably the most disappointing aspect of the AYCE experience. The staff and service were friendly enough, but the policy or terms of the AYCE gave me 20/20 hindsight regret of impulsively agreeing to the rules/system and not either just ordering a la carte or walking out after realizing how untraditional and unappealing their format is/was. I do like Fusion Sushi in general, but this AYCE needs to be revised I believe to become appealing to the masses

With the USA getting a massive FIFA win, my New York Knicks finally taking home the NBA Finals Championship, and the Carolina Hurricanes defeating the Vegas Knights for the Stanley Cup, my friends and I needed a top-tier spot to celebrate. There was no question we were heading straight to Dash Dashi in Manhattan Beach. Located right near the pier on Manhattan Ave, Dash Dashi perfectly blends that laid-back South Bay coastal energy with incredibly refined sushi. We walked in buzzing from the games, and the staff matched our energy perfectly. The service here is always attentive and friendly. We kicked off the celebration with a round of their premium chilled sake and an order of their spicy garlic edamame. Do yourself a favor and do not skip the edamame--the hot spice blend is dangerously addictive and pairs perfectly with the sake. But let's talk about the main event. If you follow my channel, you already know I come here for one specific reason: the off-menu "KG Roll." The chefs know exactly how to make this custom signature roll for me, and it is a masterpiece every single time. The fish is insanely fresh and buttery, and it has the exact right balance of heat and crunch. Seriously, ask the chef if they can whip up the Kristina Farberman special (the KG Roll)--you will not regret it! Whether you're celebrating a historic weekend of sports sweeps or just looking for some of the best sushi in the South Bay, Dash Dashi never misses. Highly recommend! -- Kristina Farberman

Each piece of sushi showcased just how fresh and high-quality the fish was, and the warm, perfectly seasoned rice complemented every bite. The hand rolls were especially memorable--they were crisp, fresh, and a great way to finish the meal. The atmosphere was clean, modern, and welcoming, with a calm vibe that made it easy to relax and enjoy the experience. Even though the restaurant was busy, everything ran smoothly and the dining room never felt chaotic. The service was excellent from start to finish.
